Review: "WITHER" - Lex Viscera

Lex Viscera Wither Cover Art

Music can be used to open our hearts and heal part of us that was once broken. Most of the time, songs can write pensive lyrics that encourage us to heal and partake in painstaking thoughts about how we relate to such vehement lyrics. There are a plethora of songs that touch our hearts in methodical ways and some that simply just steal the words and sentiments directly out of our souls, encouraging us to embrace the pain we feel, typically after a harrowing heartbreak. But, there are times when we feel vengeful for the pain we go through. Where the emotions we feel are more powerful and ominous. In the most common instance, after being fed lies and falsehoods from an individual we once assumed shared immense love for us. The betrayal and emotional suffering we feel can be overbearing. And yet, the quiet susurration of vengeance seems to be ignored. That ache we get, where we would rather embrace ourselves for the power we hold and take back our pain. “Wither” by Lex Viscera is a striking and influential song that’s teeming with remarkable and vindictive lyrics that confidently flourish within the listener's hearts. It’s a song that's glowing with such influence and power, how the pain we once had can turn into something potent and make us dauntless. “Wither” holds so many emphatic lyrics like “is it love or is it karma” and “roses bloom in thorns”, these lyrics serve as a more poetic perspective to a situation that leaves us wishing for karma on those who’ve betrayed us and fed us the lies we once believed.

“Wither” opens up so powerfully, setting the stage for such a vaguely vulnerable song– the lyrics posing and holding so much vulnerability and yet still somehow depicting these emotions and lyrics where they’re not so blunt and overt, giving our artist, Lex, more amenity in the shadows of his poetic and symbolic lyrics. Symbolizing and somehow telling such an intricate and creative idea of vengeance and a deserved retribution where we, in the process, claim our dominion and self-worth that was once lost. The lyrics cleverly portray what it means to harbor such tenacious and refulgent sentiments. The music video is an additional story in itself that depicts the vampiric and alternative side of this song, our artist, Lex, is depicted in a scene that’s so out of the ordinary for a standard pop singer– putting him in the dark and haunting hues of an anomalous and edgy glow.

Lex Viscera, the artist behind such a dark and poetic song, is singer and songwriter originally from Eastern Europe who mostly resonates with powerful genres like dance-pop, electronica, and electropop. His musical journey started with piano lessons that he indulged in at the young age of nine. At age nineteen, Lex became cognizant of his desire to excel as a musician, and he later spent the next six months perfecting his sound and introducing himself to songwriting, musical theory, and sound production. Lex then released his debut single titled “PANDEMONIUM”, later along with the song “Wither”. Most of Lex’s sound is blended with meaningful and expressive lyrics. As Lex continues to grow as an artist, I can’t help but look forward to the more successful tracks he will release in the near future. To keep up with Lex, follow his socials!
