Emlyn completely rocked the stage at her headlining single release show in Los Angeles. She captivated the audience from the moment she stepped on stage. Her infectious smile and down-to-earth personality enhanced the already intimate atmosphere of The Moroccan Lounge. Heading into the show, I knew it was going to be one of the best live performances I had seen. My husband even said in the car, "With a voice like hers, this is going to be badass." And he was absolutely right.

Emlyn kicked off the show with the track "hotter than me." The fiery song matched the electric energy of the crowd. Everyone was singing along to every word while simultaneously mesmerized by the singer's impeccable vocals. Throughout the set, she continued to surprise me with her powerful high notes and vocal range. Just a few days before the show, her guitarist fell sick and had to back out. Emlyn had to pivot to a backing track-only show, but with her professionalism and talent, you would think she had a full band production supporting her. Emlyn is an absolute powerhouse singer, on par with the strongest vocalists in music - Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Both artists I have seen live, and only Emlyn has been able to match the power and vocal control of these two American Idols.

Her talent was not the only thing that stood out to me. Emlyn's authenticity made her a delight to watch in person. Her radiance shined through the crowd, and she made every single person feel seen, through her relatable storytelling to her charismatic personality. She had everyone hanging onto her every word as she shared the background on her songs. She had a magical way of making the night feel like a casual conversation with close friends.

Emlyn is a true professional and superstar in the making. This show was originally scheduled for June 14th. Unfortunately, it had been postponed due to the protests in L.A., resulting in a curfew for the neighborhood. When it was canceled, Emlyn immediately went online to address it candidly. I appreciate the singer using her platform to stand up for the rights of people in our community. Emlyn chose to reschedule the show for August 30th - her birthday. This made the show even more special. Her supporting act, Elli Moore, and a team member came on stage with a cake to lead everyone in singing "Happy Birthday." It was a cute, endearing surprise that the audience could tell made Emlyn's night.

Despite the celebratory date change, Emlyn was hit with another curveball when her guitarist got sick the week of the concert. However, like the professional she is, she knew the show must go on. So she switched up the setlist and chose to do two cover songs with just her and the keyboard. She sang two of my childhood favorites, "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson and "White Horse" by Taylor Swift. Covering Kelly Clarkson is no small feat, but Emlyn blew it out of the water with her phenomenal voice. And as a die-hard Swiftie since 2006, it is hard to impress me with covers, and yet, Emlyn left me with chills. This just goes to show that she is a master of many trades, not just her own.

After the show, I had the privilege of meeting Emlyn. She came out to meet with her dad, whom I had happened to befriend in line, and I had the opportunity to share a few words and snap a picture with her. She is immensely humble and kind. She treated me like an old friend, saying, "It's nice to have a girly like you in the front." She cracked a couple of jokes, extending her magnetic presence beyond the stage. After watching her perform and meeting her, I am even more proud to call myself an Emlyn fan and cannot recommend her enough. If you have a chance to see her live, jump at the opportunity. Follow her on all social media for new updates, including her upcoming single - the very first Emlyn love song.
