My highlight of 2025 was decided at The Wrecks concert in Atlanta. This being my third time having the pleasure of seeing the band live, I had no doubt I would have a great time. I bought my tickets for the show back in October and have been counting down the days ever since. The band comprises four members: Nick Anderson, Billy Nally, Aaron Kelley, and Nick Schmidt, who each do a phenomenal job of showcasing their talents on stage. The show started exactly on time at 9:20 p.m. with the venue coming alive at the sound of pounding drums. Nick Anderson opened with a stunning performance of the title track from their 2022 album, "Sonder."
I have been The Wrecks' number one fan since 2021, and every song sounds like I'm listening to it for the first time. Unfortunately, I got to the venue a bit late and stood in the upstairs section where there was plenty of space to see, as well as safety rails to rest when my feet started to throb. The view from my spot was perfect for arriving closer to the start of the actual show. I had never been to the Masquerade venue before and was pleased with how open and accommodating it was. At the back of the main floor were free water stations that definitely helped wake me up after my four-hour drive to Atlanta.
It's much more fun to go to a concert where the band has no bad songs. A few days before the "INSIDE:" began, the band posted a video on Instagram where they revealed the official setlist. After watching the video I could feel my head exploding with excitment as all of my favorites such as: "Freaking Out," "Out of Style," and "Milwaulkee's Best" were shown. My excitement was cut short when the caption informed me that they would be changing their setlist every single night of the tour. However, I had nothing to worry about as all three of those songs were played at my show. My throat can still feel the lyrics.

The Wrecks make a great effort to include the audience in their shows. They do an amazing job of knowing when to pause between songs. As well as Anderson's iconic journey into the crowd during the encore performance of one of their most popular tracks, "Favorite Liar." This Wrecks also showed me my first mosh pit with an appearance from a woman on the floor who called herself "two drinks." The crowd danced in circles after their declared leader as the band ran around the stage, making sure everyone was included. This concert was such a treat, and my respect for The Wrecks grows stronger with every release. If you find yourself searching for an affordable, guaranteed good time, go with The Wrecks every time.
