YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB Crying In The Car Cover Art

YAOUNDEBOXINGCLUB’s new single, Crying In The Car, is an indie/alt pop song about loneliness, belonging, and change. “Not a place to call my own, no text popping on my phone during all these nights I spend” references loneliness. “Stuck in the past, yeah I always wonder what could've been, whatever happened” references belonging. “Cause I don't know where I belong, but it sure ain't Kansas anymore” references change. The music video is filmed on an iPhone and the way its filmed is reminiscient of punk and indie music videos from the 90s.

Crying In The Car blends 90s hip hop production with modern indie textures making it feel both new and old at the same time. Because of that, it reels in listeners of any age and sounds like a timeless classic. Her warm voice balances well with the poetic lyrics, instrument-heavy songwriting, and wavy production. I also want to mention the cover art. I feel that cover art isn’t usually seen as that important, but the cover art she uses compliments the song perfectly. It’s vibrant and reminds me of a fiery sunset. Very beautifully done!

YAOUNDEBOXINGCLUB is a French-Cameroonian musician currently based in London, England. She writes, produces, and mixes all of her music. A true jack of all trades! She is known for letting her creativity flow and not limiting herself to a specific genre of music. Influenced by Tracy Chapman, The Beaches, Ethel Cain, Rachel Chinouriri, SZA, and Paramore, she has shown no signs of slowing down. Just this year, she has released three other songs: “Forever Young”, “Jesse Pinkman”, and “NEVERWANNAGOHOME”.
