Mandy Ventrice asks the question that lingers after breakups in “Have You Cried?” Her latest release explores the emotional landscape of relationships, the mountains, the valleys, and the rivers. Even after a relationship ends, she can’t help the natural reaction, wanting to know how her ex feels. She wants to understand if they cared, and the best way to know is if they feel broken from having to let go. It’s this ache to know that her ex feels the same, even in heartbreak. She skips the details about who is sleeping in what once was her side of the bed and using her pillow, and she dives into the emotions. She sings, “If you really cared for me/ you’d be down, hugging your knees,/ on the bathroom floor like me.” Sometimes that’s the best path to closure, knowing that they cared and cried. Knowing that her ex even shares the same heartache allows her the closure and comfort that the relationship was genuinely valued.

“Have You Cried” opens with heavy, slightly distorted piano chords, like you can feel the pain sinking in. Accompanied by a soft pop beat, the music expresses the persistent question haunting her. Her background vocals blend melancholy with this desperation to know how her ex feels. Her distinct vocals are attention-grabbing, and you can’t help but sing along. The pre-chorus mirrors the sadness and melancholy, while the chorus dives into the desperation to know the answer. Every instrument and effect emphasizes this link between feelings and the hope that the relationship meant something special enough to miss.

Amanda Nicole Ventrice, known as Mandy Ventrice, is a singer and songwriter for cheeky pop songs that are not afraid to capture those honest, raw feelings. Ventrice has always had a gift for writing music. She wrote her first song when she was seven years old. Not long after, at age thirteen, she wrote and produced her first E.P. Her talent was evident in her first dance/pop single with Ian Carey, which quickly reached over a million views. This led to her signing with Atlantic Records three years later. But her music projects are not only for herself. She has worked with Disney, Netflix, Nickelodeon, MTV, and other television shows. Her vocals have been in songs in Furious 7 and Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
