Review: "Prescription" - Caly Bevier

"Prescription" is a fascinating take on love as Caly Bevier describes the love of her life as a sort of prescription. She expresses that this other person is a cure for all of the depression and anxiety she faces on the daily. She even goes as far as to say that "I think you work better than my prescription." She sings about how she feels almost sick without him around and needs him to stay in order to feel okay. This piece is a beautiful expression of how important this person is to Caly and how she truly believes that she could not live this life without him.

With a wonderful blend of beachy guitar chords and powerful beats, Bevier created a calming and tranquil melody. In certain parts of the song, the guitar sounds as if it is being played from an outside source and being channeled into the piece through this alternate device. This adds a layer of depth to the piece and allows for Bevier's vocals to sound more prominent. Her voice is a beautiful mix of throaty and smooth as her voice has a truly calming air to it. This strengthens the idea that being with her love calms any negative emotions she experiences. This song has numerous diverse aspects to it between the calm yet dynamic elements of her voice and melody.

Caly Bevier was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. After fighting stage 3 ovarian cancer at 15, Caly packed up her things to chase her dreams and start a new music-driven journey in Los Angeles. Haunted by her religious upbringing she now strives to include messages of being unapologetically herself in her music, so that her listeners can feel comfortable in their own skin and feel less acne in whatever they're going through. Being influenced by myriad genres, Caly loves to blend all sorts of sounds into her songs. She won't be put into a box, she doesn't even know what that is.
