Sunny In London Izzy Escobar

Izzy Escobar’s new single, Sunny In London, is an indie pop song about life after a breakup. In the music video, she’s roaming the streets of London while drinking beer and dancing with an umbrella. The vibe and atmosphere are bright, but the lyrics are somewhat sad. This juxtaposition is authentic and an all too real experience for most of us. While her heart is torn and she's trying to pick up the remaining pieces, at least it’s sunny in London. At least there’s something nice to look forward to. Staying positive and trying to find happiness are all we can do when things don’t work out the way we hoped.

Sunny In London starts with a beautifully played violin and soft piano double punch that is quite soothing to the ears before kicking into the first verse. Throughout the song, she sings “I made a few mates at the pub next door. Had a quick beer but it turned to four” and “There’s a part of me that knew it. I’m so glad I dodged that bullet.” Some lyrics express sadness while others express relief and gratitude. I love the visual storytelling in the lyrics, her powerful vocals, and her overall singing tone because they make her stands out from the crowd.

Izzy Escobar is a singer songwriter hailing from Massachusetts. She brings a unique twist to the pop landscape as a half Cuban and half Italian woman having had lessons in classical violin and piano. You might have already ran into her singing videos on social media. She’s moved from Los Angeles to New York City while writing her debut album. She has one other song, “These Eyes”, that was released earlier this year. As a new artist on the scene, she’s already off to a great start and I hope to hear more from her soon. If you’re looking for new artists to support, she needs to be one of them.
