Released January 17th, this single views these events as a moment of freedom and liberation, instead of the usual view of heartbreak and sadness. This is a refreshing new take, and shows La Flor’s power and self-sufficiency. La Flor shared that this track was an attempt to capture “the freedom that comes after you learn detachment and let go of something that’s holding you back”. In my opinion, she certainly accomplished this, with an almost Lana Del Ray Americana sound, full of nostalgic whispers and church bell chimes. The lyrics are a take on the idiom "a wolf in sheep's clothing", as they may seem like a nice person, but Regent knows the harsh truth about them, according to her adverse reaction to them. The line "I don't wanna be afraid of you" proves this even further; Regent has a bad past with this person and feels as though she needs to conquer her fear of them, as she knows who they really are. The production is consistent throughout "The wolf", and you can still tell when the verses end and the choruses begin. This is concurrent with Regent's harmonies throughout the song, which build during different parts of "The wolf". The instrumentation consists of drums and upbeat guitar chords, as well as harmonious strings, along with fun pop sound effects. Based in New York City, she now has own her pop songs, such as those on her EPs Miss Regent in 2021 and Girl of Your Dreams in 2023. She plans on releasing her album On the phone with my mom in 2025. She has also released other amazing songs, including "Still in Love" and "Heavy Little Things".
