B Dayton’s latest single, CD Player, is an upbeat indie pop/pop rock song about not getting sucked back into a previous relationship. Despite all the attempts his ex has made to get back with him, he puts his foot down and refuses to be played yet again. I appreciate his authenticity when it comes to heartbreak and being able to say the hard part out loud. You’re not entirely over your former lover so it feels like a sign when they come crawling back. It feels like you should leap on the opportunity or you’ll never be able to find love again.
CD Player immediately starts with the hook causing you to unapologetically nod your head to the beat. In the chorus, he sings “You give me a reason, a stupid feeling to come back and ruin my growth. Fast forward. You’re not my favorite song anymore. Burn that CD player!” It’s nostalgic and timeless while still sounding fresh. In addition to great vocals, the song is groovy with polished production. Song of the summer vibes at the end of summer makes it a perfect transition song to start the new fall season. I am adding this to my fall playlist!
B Dayton is a singer songwriter hailing from New Albany, Indiana, but he is currently based in Nashville. He makes honest pop music with emotional lyrics accompanied by epic visuals and top-notch production. He has released other songs recently including “Don’t Make Me!” and “Invisible”. His discography dates all the way back to 2016. If you are interested in hearing all that he has to offer, I would suggest checking out his music. I will be blasting this song until the end of the year and I’m encouraging you all to do the same!
