  • Review: "Solar Eclipse" - Lucy Deakin

Lucy Deakin’s new song, Solar Eclipse, is an alternative/electro pop song about wanting to be in a better place after the end of a relationship. After a breakup, we need space and time to heal. This is already difficult to deal with on our own. It becomes more difficult when the person is still very present in our lives. The only way to truly move on is for your past lover to completely remove themselves from your life. Once they do that, you can get on with the healing process and reach that better place which just so happens to be sunny like a solar eclipse. Solar Eclipse is led by rhythmic drumming and distinctive vocals. In the first half of the chorus, she expresses “I’ll be in a better place. Gonna make my sweet escape. Don’t call me up. Don’t call me.” In the second half of the chorus, she’s shouting lyrics that reflect feelings of liberation. “Want, want what I want. Thinking I’m done calling it quits. Done calling it sunny but it is a solar eclipse.” I love the summer vibe and aesthetic. The song reminds me of Charli XCX who I am a fan of. If you’re not ready to embrace fall yet, you can still enjoy summer by listening to this fun song. Lucy Deakin is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Stoke-on-Trent, England, but is influenced by Los Angeles, California, and based in London, England. So far in her young career, she has amassed over one million views on TikTok, a Top 25 single on iTunes, support from BBC Radio 1, and been named an Essential Emerging Artist by NME. She has collaborated with many artists including McFly , Dylan Nash , and Becky Hill . Also, she is one of the original members of LOUD LDN , a female and non-binary alternative pop group. I think she’s really cool and unique and would highly recommend you check her music out. Written By Jazz FOLLOW LUCY DEAKIN: Instagram | Spotify  | YouTube | Website

  • Review: "Tell Me" - Jordan Anthony

A situationship is not for the weak. Especially when you need clarification and they just simply won’t tell you. Well, do I have the song for you! Jordan Anthony’s newest single, “Tell Me”, tells all about this and more! His vocals tell listeners of the struggles of dealing with someone who won’t open up. He speaks on the track as well, saying that it captures that feeling of “wanting so badly to be with someone and knowing they want it too, but they’re holding back”. In my opinion, it’s super frustrating to have no clarity, where all you want to say is TELL ME! Which is exactly where the idea came from with Jordan Anthony in this amazing song. The song starts off with a lovely acoustic guitar, which adds the heartfelt vibe. His vocals are the star of the show though! His range is explosive! They are raw and up front, very limited reverb giving it an original feel. Back to the instrumental though, the drums rolls with the progression of the song, leading perfectly in the chorus and creating suspense throughout the second verse. The drums the get very punctual in the outro, creating more room for his vocals to shine. The background vox also adds a nice touch, wrapping this whole song into a lovely, down-to-earth story. Jordan Anthony is singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Perth, Australia. His passion for songwriting stems as early as 7-years-old, and his piano lessons at 5-years-old allowed him to arrange and compose his own music. Jordan never stopped hustling since, and he has made his face known around the world! His relentless dedication brought him to perform for Australia’s The Voice in 2019, and even made it to Top 4! He also represented his country at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest , where he placed Top 10 globally. He has also headlined three times at Perth’s One Big Voice Festival , spoke at TEDxPerth, and released a debut single that gained even more worldwide attention. In 2024, he performed at American Idol and placed Top 14, which encouraged this rising pop-star to relocate to Los Angeles. • Review: "Common Denominator" - Geneviève Racette

"Common Denominator," describes a person who plays the victim, but in reality turns out to be the problem. Geneviève Racette paints the behavior of someone like this in a crystal clear manner. Personally, I felt like she hit the nail on the head with her accurate descriptions and personal stories that prompted her to write this piece. One of my favorite lines says, "You're so surprised / Yeah you did nothing to deserve this / You put the blame on her over and over / Baby for what it's worth when I look closer / You're the common denominator." I love this line because it paints exactly what the person who plays victim thinks about those around them. Especially, when people don't automatically cave to them. This isn't strict to romantic relationships either, platonic friendships and even relatives can act this way. Everyone has had an experience like this with another person at some point, which makes the song relatable. Geneviève Racette makes it personal to her experience and that adds more depth for us as the listener. There's a strong line towards the end that drips of emotion from the artist, it says, "I found some photos in your dresser / you were smiling with some old friends / I asked you why I hadn't met them you got angry and then you said / Some bridges just have to be burned." We're given a song that provides a strong yet vulnerable tone. The artist is making herself vulnerable by sharing her experience, but she wants to do it anyway in order to bring the actions to light. Because of the strong tone it sparks a reflective and sincere mood. We know that the artist means everything that she is saying when it comes to reflecting on behavior of the other party involved in the situation. When it comes to the instrumentation we can easily pick out some of the familiar sounds that pop artists typically use. We hear drums, piano, and even a small amount of bass. Howver, we also get the indie-folk vibe from Geneviève Racette's voice. The vocals bring us a smooth, swinging tang. Indie-folk has a very unique sound and we can clearly get that from the lyrics and vocals provided by the artist. This is not surprising because that seems to be the genre that Geneviève Racette tends to stick around. Geneviève Racette is a folk-pop musician from Quèbec. She is celebrated most for her vulnerable lyricism, ethereal vocals, and emotional resonance. Since her debut EP in 2014 she's become a rising star, achieving over 4.7 million streams on spotify. Her fourth album "Golden" marked a new chapter for the artist, reaching number three on the Folk Alliance International charts. Her song "The Reasons (I'll Be Alright)" even made a feature in the tv series Heartland. She has performed across Canada and the U.S., gracing stages at Osheaga, Folk Alliance International, AmericanaFest, and Canadian Music Week. When asked about "Common Denominator" she said, "Common Denominator is for anyone who's ever been gaslit, blamed, or manipulated, and then finally saw the truth for what is was. It's about realizing that when someone always has a story where they're the victim, maybe the one common thread is them." If you're looking for an easily relatable song with deep meaning, make sure to check out "Common Denominator" today. • Review: "BETTER LoVE" - Bermuda Search Party

Much similar to the group’s name, “BETTER LoVE” from Bermuda Search Party will leave you with a mix of warm feelings and love for its eclectic nature. From the beginning of “BETTER LoVE” to its end, Bermuda Search Party plays into the absolute fun and joy the song emits. Although this song is directed toward a former lover, the overall message to them through this track is nothing but pleasant, upbeat, and kind. Despite the track detailing feelings of loss, confusion, and hurt from the protagonist’s point of view, Bermuda Search Party reiterates both in their sound and lyricism that they’re here to instill good vibes only. “BETTER LoVE” may not appear as a love song at first, but the message is one of pure acceptance of this person, the situation at hand, and the connection shared between these two people. The track shows that you can still hold & exhibit high energy, even while portraying a breakup. Rather than falling under the umbrella of “typical” breakup songs, Bermuda Search Party plays to a strength through showing acceptance, layering of an overall upbeat sound, and vibrancy that can be felt throughout the entirety of this song.  Bermuda Search Party is exactly what I assumed they are from solely hearing their name - fun, dedicated to creating an interesting sound, and not afraid to dive into creativity. With a flair that crosses pop, indie, and alternative qualities altogether, Bermuda Search Party does not steer from having a grand time in this single. “BETTER LoVE” is descriptive, providing listeners with a detailed picture of how this relationship appears - comparing it to things like a chemical fire and crime scene. Despite this imagery being brought to mind, the sound behind “BETTER LoVE” incorporates guitar, drums, keyboard, etc., that entirely reads as the band having the utmost fun they can have. This playful musicality adds an element to the story that draws in a mature, well-rounded perspective that benefits both the positive imagery given off by Bermuda Search Party as well as listeners looking for a layered listening experience. Although “BETTER LoVE” ultimately reads as a song and tale of acceptance, Bermuda Search Party does a fantastic job of exploring complex and more reserved emotions while showing an ability to move past differences and look at the bigger picture at hand. This not only serves the group, showcasing their talent in proving maturity within their musical abilities, but additionally reaches out to a wide audience. “BETTER LoVE” is a love letter to lovers as a whole, showing that all kinds of emotion are valid to feel following a breakup and that brighter things lie ahead.  Formed while studying at the Berklee College of Music, the recent graduates and members of Bermuda Search Party are taking the world by storm with their unapologetically energetic live shows. Garnering a loyal fanbase through extensive touring across the country, Bermuda Search Party has already played hundreds of shows as well as performed at venues that have made a positive stamp on music history. While having played shows at famous venues such as the Music Hall of Williamsburg and Paradise Rock Club, Bermuda Search Party has additionally participated and made their mark in festivals like Boston Calling, SXSW, Treefort, etc. Consisting of singer-songwriter & guitarist Leo Son, singer-songwriter & bassist Claire Davis, keyboardist & trumpeter Maclin Tucker, and trombonist Hoyt Parquet, Bermuda Search Party is a close-knit group that places their positive energy together into their music. After emerging into the Boston music scene, the group released their debut LP - Melancholy Flowers - in 2022. While touring to support the album, the band received nominations in four Boston award categories that propelled and showed the mark they’re making on music before they tackled playing hundreds of shows across the country. Now, Bermuda Search Party is working on new music with Eric Palmquist, a producer with experience in working with artists like Tate McRae and Bad Suns.  Written By Madison Spies FOLLOW BERMUDA SEARCH PARTY: Instagram | Spotify  | TikTok  | Facebook  | YouTube

  • Review: "WRITTEN BY A WOMAN" - PEGGY

PEGGY's latest single "WRITTEN BY A WOMAN," a song included in her second EP "COMING OF AGE," is a perfect balance of relatability and vulnerability. Everyone at some point has been interested in getting to know someone better. Whether that's in a romantic or platonic way, its very common and normal to be curious about others. Sometimes that curiosity can grow so much that you subconsciously fill in the blanks. PEGGY expresses this in "WRITTEN BY A WOMAN" and shows what its like to romanticize someone. This is shown with lyrics like, "We talked for hours / Before it clicked for me / I built my own version / Of your personality" and "Read you wrong / And now I'm at fault / And it's not your problem / You weren't written by a woman." PEGGY perfectly describes the experience of romanticizing someone with these lyrics. Sometimes, you fall in love with the idea of someone you made in your head, only to realize they aren't like that at all. PEGGY balances vulnerability, relatability, and strength all in one song. These all mesh together and create a vibrant, unforgettable indie-pop song. The soft plucking of string instruments right at the beginning feels light and pensive, immediately reeling you into "WRITTEN BY A WOMAN." On top of that, PEGGY has a voice unlike any other in the music industry. Her vocals are beautiful, soft, and almost fairy-like, but naturally commands attention from all listeners. The background instruments of "WRITTEN BY A WOMAN" sounds like it could transport you to a fantasy land, especially when combined with PEGGY's vocables during the chorus. Her voice uplifts the lyrics and vulnerable message of the song, yet beautifully transforms it into a strength that isn't something to be ashamed of. The overall sound of the song feels comforting, hopeful, and positive, like you are looking forward to the future and accepting lessons from the past. At 25 years old, PEGGY is an artist by day and a dreamer by night. She immerses herself in the pages of books and the imaginary world of her favorite fictional characters. • Review: "Ammunition" - EMME

It’s funny how you can confide in people you believe are trustworthy, but once the hardships come into play they turn on you. Every fragile piece of yourself is fair game to break in their eyes despite knowing you’d never do the same. It makes us guarded and while that can be scary, it can be empowering learning to keep parts of yourself out of reach to those who don’t deserve it. EMME’s new song “Ammunition” is all about this story of betrayal. She stated she wrote this song when a friend weaponized her secrets and her active choice to take the high road. It’s a chill indie pop track built on chugging electric guitars and raw honesty. If you’ve been burned by broken trust, “Ammunition” is the song for you. “Ammunition” by EMME is not just a song about misplaced loyalty, but an anthem to always take the high road. People who hurt us only do so because they thrive on misery. It’s a sad life to live and at the end of it all, they’re only hurting themselves. “Between you and me there’s a difference, I kept my ammunition.” Even when you have every reason and every weapon at your disposal to hit someone where they hit you, it’s always best to walk away. There’s so much joy to be found in letting go of pain you never deserved. EMME created this song as a message to never let anyone drag you down to their level. Be the bigger person. EMME is a singer-songwriter known for her hooky pop melodies and relatable story-telling. I have been listening to her for a bit now and I always adore her raw honesty in her lyricism. Watching her solo artist journey unfold has been inspiring. EMME originally started out her career writing for artists such as JORDY, Tritonal, Grace VanderWaal, etc. In 2022 her debut single “Valley Girl” was released and that put her on the path to finding her individual artistry. “Ammunition” is not only the title of this track, but the title of her new EP. It’s such a beautiful project all around so I encourage you to take 14 minutes of your day to listen to EMME’s work. Follow the links down below to stay up to date on her future releases. • Review: "Hold Me Right" - Paige Galdieri

Paige Galdieri’s latest single “Hold Me Right” is exactly what it sounds like, describing the feeling of being held just right. There’s nothing like being with someone you’re perfectly matched with, and adding an extra dash of intimacy to the mix makes it all the more potent. Whether they’re holding you– and you’re holding them– it doesn’t really matter when everything feels right when you’re with them. “Hold Me Right” is wrapped in a moody soundscape as it details the sublime chemistry between two people. Full of evocative description and a darker pop vibe, this track is an absolute must-listen for the spookier season.  The first thing you’ll notice about “Hold Me Right” is its soundscape. It’s definitely a little darker, though its content sure isn’t; you can hear it in the deep bass and light percussion, bringing everything together with Paige’s smooth vocals. I love how velvety the entire song sounds, feeling almost like silk along the skin. It’s just so, so smooth. Each transition into the chorus sounds seamless, with not a single hitch in the track. The lyrics are definitely partly responsible for this, too, as they generally speak of sensations that blend well together with each line. The imagery is super vibrant and clear– you can tell exactly what the narrator is describing their partner as, whether that’s in the candlelight or like a star. Combine all of this with its slinky soundscape and you’ve got a track that’s perfect for any occasion with your lover. Chicago-based singer-songwriter Paige Galdieri is making music to pull you in. As an artist, she got her start in theatre, and eventually branched out into creating music. Her tracks aim to tell a story with a pop twist, making them fantastic for repeated listens that'll have you dancing along every time. Her debut single “She” dropped in February 2024, and she has since released a variety of other songs in the past year. “Hold Me Right” is Paige’s seventh single, but she’s definitely not stopping there. • Review: "boys" - youcallmecarla

Photography: @ janos.glk "boys" is the newest single from youcallmecarla, a song about what the multitalented artist looks for in a partner, and how, based on how they usually act, does not want most men. She describes them as aggressive, obnoxious, and acting as if they have all the power, but when it comes to want she wants, she sings about how she prefers a man who does not possess these traits. She does not want a typical relationship, as she just wants to be with someone without any strings attached so she does not have to deal with how men often become once a romantic relationship begins or progresses over time. "boys" is a takedown on misogynists, who are immature and disrespectful when it comes to being in relationships. The production style of "boys" is like if nostalgia and avant-garde came together to make a song. While you listen, you hear different eras of pop, either in their own solos or simultaneously. The song begins with just synths that sound like futuristic wind chimes in a fall breeze. As the beat enters, those iconic vibes of that 2010s easy listening and pop fusion start to flow into the soundscape. When the chorus hits, it sounds like the early 2020s hyperpop genre that could bring you back to any festival or rave you may have attended. Then, the addition of electric guitar chords makes "boys" a distinct and one-of-a-kind song, especially with youcallmecarla's amazing vocals. youcallmecarla grew up in Germany with the goals in mind to become the singer, songwriter, and musician she is today. In April 2021, she released her debut single "another lack". In March 2024, she released her debut EP Selfish Years . She has also released other amazing music in addition to her debuts and "boys", including but not limited to "the pretty girl", "House in the Suburbs", and "love of your life", which has nearly 200,000 listens on Spotify. Its without a doubt that she is an incredible artist, as she is headed towards stardom with her sensational music. • Review: "Favorite Toy" - Felin

Another banger from Felin! "Favorite Toy" is nothing short of a loud outburst of energy from the very second the song starts. The musicality of the song really give off "ride or die" vibes meaning this is the song you and your bestie would be blasting once they distance themselves from a person that is toxic. The structure of the song is fun yet simple, but you can feel how fun this must've been to create for Felin. The lyrics of the song really captures a unique point of view that I'll dive into which it seems to be Felin's specialty. Being able to make an entertaining song, that feels historic and one that speaks to so many people is a skill. The point of view that Felin went with on this song was the idea of taking negative, toxic talk and making a whole song out of it. Felin mentions how this song is meant to preach taking your power back when people are saying you can't do something. Felin is no stranger to this sort of critique but wanted to capture what they went through. There's no reason we have to treat each other that way and this song proves what can come out of something so hateful. My favorite line from the song is in the chorus when they say how these people need to get a life instead of wasting theirs, and I cannot agree more. Elin Blom, also known professionally as Felin, is a singer songwriter from Sweden who is breaking their way through the music industry one single at a time. They're known for their pop-punk, anthems that have touched on subjects ranging from equality and feminism all through songs that make you feel like you can do anything. Felin has worked with amazing artists in the past like Adam Lambert and has performed with Swedish artists Agnes and Thundermother. After growing up in Finland, Felin has been taking L.A. by storm in order to launch the well deserved music career that we're seeing flourish. Written By Breanna M. • Review: "STRIPPED" - GRANT KNOCHE

GRANT KNOCHE's STRIPPED tears through superficiality with thrumming basslines and edgy lyrics. At the end of the day, we want people to see us for our gold medals and blue ribbons. But the times we're not first to the finish line matter just as much. When our phone screens constantly show us crisp, ironed shirts, shiny, glowing hair, and flawless skin, people start to resent the stained clothes, the split ends, and the scars. GRANT KNOCHE sings, "When I'm showing you my heart, all you see is my chest." They prefer the superficial lifestyle rather than who he is. We want to be seen, but some people can't look past the surface. How can people say they truly love us when they turn their heads away from our realest self? STRIPPED's production is set like a night drive, the best time to let down your guard. The moody bass takes over the song, rumbling like an engine. He revs up with hypnotic vocals and harmonies and a beat pulsing with the power to walk away. His voice carries a warmth, wrapped up in melancholy, reflecting the dynamic between the surface and his soul. He perfects his vulnerability, layering the vocals in the pre-chorus. And if that isn't enough to sink into the song, the synths crash and release like a wave that pulls you under. GRANT KNOCHE leads us from the city crowded with stardom and opens our eyes to the harsh nature of it all. GRANT KNOCHE is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Dallas, Texas. While he has released albums like FIRST HELLO (2022) and I COULD DIE JUST THINKING OF US (2023), he has written and produced for artists like Christina Aguilera , ADÉLA , Jess Glynne , Victoria Justice , and many more artists. • Review: "Afterlife" - Charlotte Sands

Charlotte Sands wears her heart on her sleeve in her electrifying new single, “Afterlife.” Throughout the song, she explores the delicate anxiety of falling for someone and fearing it will end, due to past relationships that had failed. But she knows their love is eternal, beyond the shackles of life. In the chorus, she sings: “Promise that you’ll find me somewhere on the other side // We can keep on trying // Someday we might get it right // If there's no survivors and we don't make it out alive // Promise that you'll find me, somewhere, somewhere // In the afterlife.” Even if their relationship dies and they can no longer find a pulse, their love will last forever. Sands confesses her bad luck in love, but her muse has changed her into an optimist. Her bittersweet lyricism showcases her authentic vulnerability and undeniable talent. “Afterlife” is another flawless piece of Sands’s immaculate discography.  “Afterlife” contains a fiery soundscape that blends alt-rock with dark pop to craft the perfect track. The song kicks off immediately with Sand’s powerful vocals leading the chorus alongside a muted guitar. This intro immediately propels the listener into the vulnerable and intimate nature of the track. At the end of the chorus, the instrumentation subtly builds before breaking into the bass-heavy verse. The production swiftly transitions to a melodious rap style, highlighting the poetic lyrics and the artist’s versatility. The sudden change catches the listener off guard, reeling them in deeper to the complex track. When the chorus returns, the pop-rock style resumes, accompanied by a complete production featuring drums and an electric guitar. In the post-chorus, Sands vocalizes with stunning falsettos, showcasing her impeccable range. The track continues the same structure, with the rap-influenced second verse and the full chorus. The song closes with additional post-chorus vocalizations, leaving the listener craving more from the talented singer. “Afterlife” is one of my favorite Sand’s tracks due to its clever songwriting, diverse soundscape, and the singer’s matchless vocals. Charlotte Sands is an alt-rock singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. At just nine years old, she began writing and performing her own songs. In 2018, she made her official debut and immediately rose to stardom – all while being a fully independent artist. She has charted in the U.S. Top 40 for over 15 weeks, won “Best Breakthrough Album” at the Heavy Music Awards, and has over 300 million global streams. She has also shared the stage with acts such as My Chemical Romance  and YUNGBLUD , recently performed at Vans Warped Tour  in Long Beach, California, and will perform at the Orlando, FL leg of the alt-rock festival. “Afterlife” is the third release of her new era, following her successful 2024 album, can we start over?  Follow her on social media to stay up to date with new releases and announcements!
