- Review: "Mother's Day" - Lily Linscott
Lily Linscott's "Mother's Day" is a wonderfully candid, heartfelt single to hum along to this holiday. Capturing the beautifully complex nature surrounding Mother's Day, Linscott wears her heart on her sleeve and delves into the feelings of guilt and melancholy that follow her every May. She describes this dreaded day as one that "hurts a little more than it should this year," vulnerably acknowledging her own relationship with herself, her mother, and her environment all in one. Linscott's raw approach to this piece provides a ray of light through its honesty and sits deeply within all those who have had to face this holiday with feelings of pain and ambivalence. "Mother's Day" is Linscott's tribute to the complicated attachment that follows her and to all listeners who find themselves relating to her situation. Linscott uses this song as a means to uplift and lend a voice to those who struggle to put their emotions into words; she offers a hand and reminds listeners that they are not alone. "Mother's Day" is a beautifully intricate piece that offers us relief in its gentle comfort. Linscott's smooth, yet heavy tone immediately catches the listeners attention, as her alto vocals and controlled vibrato cement themselves in our ears. The background instrumentals, specifically the piano, offer such a sentimental sound to the song as a whole. Not too aggressive and not too soft, the piano supports the underlying strength in Linscott's delivery as she recounts the difficulty of her circumstances. The hums that accompany her feel choral and spiritual, lifting the mood despite the struggle. Overall, Linscott's "Mother's Day" is a powerful ode to an annual overcoming of hardship, but it doesn't stop there: this song provides a much-needed light to navigate a time that can be dark for many. Lily Linscott is a rising singer-songwriter from New Zealand who has already started to leave her legacy on the industry. Swaying audiences with her heartfelt lyrics and authentic charm, Linscott hopes to make listeners feel "a little less alone" when she shares her work. Linscott's use of creative outlets like Instagram and TikTok give fans an inside look at her personal journey and experiences while writing her music, offering a refreshing artistic perspective and a display of her character. In addition to "Mother's Day," Linscott's single,"15 again," also released in 2025, garnered much popularity and showcased more of her unique depth and musicality. Helping others through their own struggles through her storytelling, fans eagerly look forward to see what's on the horizon for Linscott's fresh emergence into the industry! - Review: "Optimist" - Sloan Treacy
“Optimist” is the newest single from Sloan Treacy , a song that points out the many flaws and errors a former significant other made that lead to the breaking up of the relationship they were in. Treacy describes the very poor qualities that this person possesses, some being oblivious, narcissistic, and too nonchalant in regards to the relationship, which is why it had to end. What mostly contributed to Treacy wanting to break up with this person is that they did not care about her or their relationship and she did not want to be with someone who disregarded these things despite their importance They were not willing to put in the work to keep the relationship alive, and it is hypocritical for her ex to call themselves an “optimist” when there was no future of them still being together. The production and instrumentation of “Optimist” progresses from acoustic to guitar pop to pop rock throughout the song’s timeline, making it musically diverse. The first section contains the strumming of a guitar to begin the song, which is shortly followed by more guitars layered with it and the introduction of drums. This then increases to finish out the rest of the single. “Optimist” was very creatively produced and is a perfect mix of pop and alternative music. Treacy is also an amazing vocalist and provides great melodies and harmonies during the song. Her voice is a fantastic match for the genres of the song and to how the instruments are played. Sloan Treacy is a singer-songwriter and musician based in Los Angeles and Nashville. She has been singing since she was very young and began playing the guitar and songwriting at nine years old. She began her music career in July 2024 with the release of her debut single “Mastermind of Madness”. Since then, she has released other amazing music, including her debut EP Stuck . She had posted several covers of songs from different artists, including “come out and play” by Billie Eilish and “Not Strong Enough” by boygenius . Treacy had said that she has plans to keep embarking on her musical journey. Sloan Treacy is an amazing and very talented artist! - Review: "hold me close" - Bardz
As we grow up our parents are the only people who want to see us grow into the amazing person they know we can be. When we are younger there are so many fights and arguments that take place. We sit there and listen to the stern life lessons they give us wishing and wondering when they will be done so we can go about our day. There are hundreds of thoughts that go through our minds as to why we are getting yelled at or talked down to. But at the end of every conversation, they leave us with the message of “one day you’ll understand” or “one day you are going to thank me for this conversation.” Sure, we nod our heads as if we were even listening to anything they were saying but as we get older, we reminisce on those conversations and truly thank them for those times. Bardz new single “hold me close” delivers these same messages of growing up with a parental figure who in the end just knew one day we would understand and be eternally grateful. “hold me close” is a unique song as it tells a beautiful story about times we have all gone through as children. While listening to the song I immediately related to it on so many levels. From growing up as a child to hearing these stern lectures to now being an adult and being so grateful, I was lucky enough to have parents who shaped me for life and all the lessons that it comes with. This track is extremely vulnerable with lyrics like “I’ve got moments with my father / Buried six feet down” and “Well, now that I’m the wiser, I see just what he means.” While the lyrics are so touching, his vocals really make you feel how intense this track is. He sings with a great amount of passion and sorrow throughout the entire track. My absolute favorite part was the instrumentals as they were gentle with a steady guitar and fast paced drums here and there. Bardz is an all-around talented artist with backgrounds in numerous instruments from the drums to the keyboard right down to creating awesome tracks. He is a great singer and songwriter creating and releasing music since 2017 with his first single “Kelona.” In everything he puts out into the music industry he does so with deep meaning and amazing sounds for his listeners to relate to. His brand-new release “hold me close” came out May 2, 2025, and is just a teaser for his upcoming EP. “the only way out is through” is set to release May 30, 2025, with six tracks that I am sure are just as emotion filled with electric sounds. Be sure to follow his socials below and stay tuned for his next release. Written By Julissa Garcia FOLLOW Bardz: Instagram | Spotify | Facebook | YouTube *Sponsored Post - Discovered on Musosoup. Whether if you are going through a hard break up, a mid-life crisis or its simply just a bad week you often find hope from those in your corner. Having a village of people who you know will make those hard times immediately vanish is a must. They are always there for you no matter what the situation is, no matter what time it is and no matter where you may be. Words cannot begin to describe how extraordinary this song was. “Nothin’ but Love” opens with the most hopeful sound I have ever heard. From the finger snaps right down the beautiful singing from the choir. This was the perfect intro to his emotive lyrics and soulful voice. The storytelling was remarkable at the beginning which flowed right into the uplifting and happy mood for the entire track. Paired with his genuine lyrics and singing were the instrumentals with a groovy drum beat, vibrant piano keys and bold trumpets. This song made me feel every emotion possible from reminiscing about hard times and those who helped me, to being left with the feeling of being beyond grateful to have the amazing village I have. - Review: "Fall For The Rhythm" - Black Sands x Ruhde x KOOLKID x Rikki Lee
A brand new single entitled “Fall For The Rhythm” has been released, and it was made in collaboration with four fantastic artists; Black Sands, Ruhde, KOOLKID, and Rikki Lee. The song’s lyrics are just as vibrant as its sound, and I’m excited to tell you a little bit more about it. Strong summer imagery is consistently delivered throughout the track, making it the perfect song to blast as the weather begins to heat up. This theme can be seen from the opening lyrics, “Sun is high, that’s how I’m feeling / Music loud, up to the ceiling / 33 degrees in here.” By the track’s ending, I can almost feel the sense of freedom warmer seasons bring. There’s also a playful and not-so-subtle nod to Grease’s soundtrack in the lyrics, “Oh I got chills, they’re multiplying / Some type of thrill that you’re supplying.” Overall, “Fall For The Rhythm” goes on to beautifully capture that initial moment of attraction between two people while embodying the feeling of dancing and flirting during a summer night. “Fall For The Rhythm” does an excellent job of blending elements of modern pop with jazzy undertones and funk. It’s refreshing to hear such a layered production. Once the instrumentation is in full swing, this track truly comes to life. The addition of synths also brings a breezy and stylish texture to the sound. A personal highlight of “Fall For The Rhythm” is the accompanying classic pop vocals (they are as impressive as they are catchy). By its conclusion, this track has masterfully turned a laid-back groove into a full dance floor moment. Now that we know what "Fall For The Rhythm" is about and how it sounds, let's talk about the people who made it. Together, Black Sands, Ruhde, KOOLKID, and Rikki Lee bring an impressive collection of global talent. The project is led by Andrew Balfour under his project Black Sands. The collaboration also showcases Malaysian-born and now London-based talent Rikki Lee and Italian music producer Ruhde. A Glasgow-based solo artist KOOLKID is also listed as a contributor. As a result, “Fall for the Rhythm” is a high-energy track with staying power. It’s clear these artists' abilities meshed together perfectly to create a true summer hit. - Review: "OMG" - Ceara Cavalieri
An attraction that takes our mind for a wild ride is hard not to feel hypnotized to when we can't help but love the thrill. When that special someone stands out in a crowded room and the connection grows strong, we may have a hard time resisting the mistakes that we never learned from before. As the fire ignites in the love that takes us to hell and back, it's hard to say goodbye when we want to give this love one more go. Ceara Cavalieri hypnotizes us away from our mistakes and onto the dance floor. When we finally know it is time to learn from our lesson and leave the cycle behind, we can be hypnotized to the love we've chosen to give to ourselves instead of to the toxic love. An electronic pulse guides us to the hypnotic melody and Ceara's captivating tone. She begins by expressing the powerful feeling she has when she's encountered the lesson she hadn't learned from before. The hypnotic connection has taken over her mind and her heart is racing with the thoughts she can't avoid as that special someone runs through her head. The pre-chorus prepares us for the wild ride she knows this love will take her on. We are brought to the electrifying and addicting melody of the chorus as she lets the love have full control. While the connection remains strong, the love that could've been heaven remains stuck in the cycle between hell and back. The fire has been ignited, but the love is stuck in the flames that only cause pain. She wants to give it one more go as the hypnotic feeling remains strong. She knows it's time to say goodbye, but she can't help but say hello. Ceara Cavalieri's "OMG" is a hypnotic song that will take us for a wild ride as we avoid our mistakes and finally learn from the lessons we chose to ignore. - Review: "LITTLE DREAMER" - DeathbyRomy
It can feel at times that we've seen it all in music to the point where it's like there will never be a new genre ever again. Lil Nas X showed us that there are still ways to fuse genres together and DeathbyRomy is doing that exact same thing. On the newest album HOLLYWOOD FOREVER, the song "LITTLE DREAMER" is nothing short of absolute greatness and a masterpiece. Somehow mixing house music and punk rock/screamo, this song is thoughtful, eccentric, flashy and scary...but in a good way! The lyrics are catchy like that one pop song that takes over the charts in the summer but with a grunge sound that fuels anyones addiction to it. The effects used in this song are so smart sending the listener on an adventure all just shy of 3 minutes. It feels that the attention is immediately demanded by DeathbyRomy from the very beginining of this song as it starts off with this really cool sound of the guitar. Not always is technology used to make music even greater than what we can do on a human level, but this feels like one of those situations where it's used exactly like it's supposed to. The song then brings us into the pre-chorus which is a halftime screamo rock breakdown to then launching us right into the chorus. The chorus is unlike anything I've ever heard. It starts almost all the way acapella for the first two lines and then the drums turn into this wonderful pop sound. Somehow, DeathbyRomy has managed to mix mupltiple genres which has to be a talent of its own. It is truly remarkable. Romy Flores, who is known professionally as DeathbyRomy, is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California where at the young age of 15 started performing music starting her career. In 2018, her debut LP was released which has been followed by 3 studio albums, with the most recent one being from 2022 skyrocketing her music career. In 2019, her single "Problems" went viral on TikTok bringing the song to over 60 million streams on Spotify. More recently, her studio album HOLLYWOOD FOREVER, not only is where you can find "LITTLE DREAMER" but it was released on April 25th, 2025 allowing herself to launch into tour for the remainder of the year. - Review: "Love Scare" - Mia Baron
Mia Baron's new single, "Love Scare" is a lyrical anthem that encapsulates the terrifying truth of what you may have meant to someone already gone. Trying to draw the lines between fact and fiction when it comes to emotions can tangle your own feelings, an articulated and complex feeling that Mia captures flawlessly. With every listen, the mixed signals, exuberance, regret, and manipulation seep through the ballad. The artist's expression of unresolved closure allows for relatability for any young girls or listeners who commonly feel the chaos in communication, or lack thereof. Mia sets the tone with this production by showcasing a powerful yet balanced display of music and voice. Her vocals enhance the narrative while the music carries the anthem. For such a young age, Mia's voice is well-developed and emotional, providing the depth needed for such a complex emotional song. The production leaves space for her voice to breathe and flow, allowing every word to hit the heart where it hurts. Each note feels intentional, grounded in a kind of quiet confidence that’s rare to hear. Mia undoubtedly will leave you in a trance with this single. At only 17 years old, this teenager from Toronto, Ontario, has amassed a following without a label or management. Mia hits the ground hard and rightfully gains her success with her musical talent. Her songs dive into deeper, relatable topics such as mental health, toxic relationships, and heartbreak in young love. Following her passions since 11 years old, Mia pursued songwriting and musical training and has continued to expand her talents since. Harboring inspiration from artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Nessa Barrett, and Madison Beer, Mia still creates her own image and career in the indie-pop scene. - Review: "no other way" - Ofir Sandler
Being stuck in a relationship where there is so much love but yet that love isn’t valued is an impossible thing to understand. We often get stuck in how mesmerizing our partner is and while there is so much potential for a beautiful relationship that’s not all there is to it. We can love one another so deeply and feel it in our hearts that they are the one but at the end of the day love doesn’t make up a relationship. Communication, actions, trust, respect, being there for one another and so much more is the key to pure love. Sure, we can have all these things and still have love but are those same feelings felt on both sides? “no other way” by Ofir Sandler brings us the sad but hard truth of letting someone you love so deeply go. It may never or always feel like the right time but no matter how much love is present it’s never worth giving up your entire soul. “no other way” begins with an enchanting melody that gives off the feeling that something better is to come. The soft and echoey vocals layered over the feathery guitar strings being played is the perfect rhythm for this amazing song. I absolutely loved the instrumentals in this track, they complimented the heartfelt message while giving it this lively feel to it. While the instruments were superior her voice was fantastic with such deep and expressive emotions at every word. She took an all too familiar feeling and turned it into this all around genuine and hopeful but outstanding song. I seriously could not get enough of this track. It was so passionate and unfiltered in the best way possible. The talented Ofir Sandler is from the Middle East but resides in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Since 2019 she has been releasing music that is so relatable while adding a touch of honesty and pop to it all. She is a new artist creating remarkable music with those in the shoemakers. Her genre can be to artists like Florence + The Machine and Paramore falling under that indie rock category. I for one cannot wait to hear what else this gifted artist has in store for us next. - Review: "Real Enough" - Queen Anne
Bursting onto the indie-pop scene, Queen Anne have released their debut single, "Real Enough." The quirky track seems to capture what it's like dealing with a narcissist, having them constantly blame you for everything while they think they're flawless. Talking about the song, lead singer Katie Silverman states, "Real Enough' is about that time when Queen Anne specifically ordered a chicken sandwich with NO CHEESE and it came with cheese on it anyway. Any resemblance to real persons, events, or situations is purely coincidental. If you feel this song is speaking to you personally, please call +1 (800) REFERENCE. In the event of an emergency, call someone who seems like they'd be helpful." A blend of '80s pop-punk and postmodern edge, Queen Anne's "Real Enough" is perfect for those looking to get lost in a nostalgic daydream. The track's soundscape is an equal mix of dark and ethereal, featuring driving beats, gritty bass lines, and haunting synths that give "Real Enough" a timeless feel. Silverman gives a compelling performance over the addictive instrumentals, bouncing between spoken and sung lines in a way that gives the track major attitude. Certainly original and dripping with angst, "Real Enough" by Queen Anne is a debut you don't want to miss. An American duo looking to make their mark on the indie world, Queen Anne is comprised of members Katie Silverman (lead singer/songwriter) and Sandy Chila (writer/producer). The pair prize themselves on their creativity, proving to have the ability to transform everyday frustrations into a gripping musical narrative that makes the ordinary extraordinary. No stranger to the entertainment industry, Silverman has already demonstrated her talent as an actress on shows like New Girl and Pen15 , as well as on films like The Exorcists. Silverman longs to extend her talents to music, sparking a new direction in her artistry through Queen Anne and giving us much to look forward to. - Review: "For Eden" - Lyves
Lyves takes listeners on an extremely emotional journey with her latest song "For Eden". The lyrics are honest. Each line and each verse voices unspoken thoughts, struggles, and truths that are kept inside. While these thoughts are often kept hidden and unspoken, the struggles that come with them are difficult to cope with. Internal struggles with mental health may be unseen, but that does not mean they are to be taken lightly. These battles with mental health can be all consuming, and Lyves expresses that with lyrics like "All these voices in my mind, they're taking over." and "So dosed up I was on a high, medication stole my dreams".
