  • Review: "Dive" - Avamarie

With so many thoughts about the what ifs in life it’s hard to not imagine what the outcome would be. Everyday a new thought about your career, your relationships and your life come into play. You ask yourself is this the right choice to be made right now? Will there be another opportunity like this or will I miss my chance? Will I regret doing or not doing something in a week or even five years from now? There is always something to be considered and there is always going to be something better to come. Avamarie released her brand new single “Dive” on April 8, 2025, which gives off the positive message to not think twice about whatever the opportunity or life changing event and simply go after it. *“Dive” is such a feel-good song with its funky tone mixed with pop elements. The song opens up with a fun upbeat rhythm before moving into her soft, euphoric vocals. One thing I would love to highlight on is the way she overlays her lyrics. You can hear her beautiful voice with its positive message but then come the layered vocals adding so much soul to the track. With lyrics like “Dive in cause this water’s different” and “Don’t let nothing cloud your vision no / Need you to focus.” This entire song was absolutely flawless in every possible way from the amazing vibe it gave off to its powerful filled lyrics right down to her gifted vocals.   Avamarie is a singer/songwriter from Rochester, New York. With her Italian roots she has always been surrounded by her huge family and their unwavering support in anything she did. While she is a musical artist, she is also an actress, model and dancer who grew up around the theater and dance realms. These very interests of hers since she was a little girl have shaped the woman she is today. They have given her the great confidence and outstanding energy to be able to release a song that is so vulnerable yet relatable such as “Dive.” Avamarie is such an inspiration and the meaning behind her latest single encompasses everything she is and more. I for one can’t wait to see what else this all around talented artist has in store for us next! "I Should Be So Lucky" Coming from her debut studio album, Kylie , "I Should Be So Lucky" is one of Minogue's first hit singles, charting in countries like Australia, the UK, Germany, and South Africa. The 1987 chart-topper is a mix of pop and Hi-NRG, creating a sound that became a breakthrough commercial success. Standing the test of time, "I Should Be So Lucky" is still loved and cherished today, leading to Minogue performing a special rendition of the single for BBC Sport's opening film in 2023 as England faced Australia in a semi-final match at the FIFA Women's World Cup. 9. "Spinning Around" A delicious mix of dance pop, disco, and synth-pop, this 2000s hit was another huge success for Minogue. The track comes from her seventh studio album, Light Years , and was released as a single in June of 2000. "Spinning Around" was written by Ira Shickman, Osborne Bingham, Paula Abdul , and Kara DioGuardi with the intention of it being recorded by Abdul. That plan never came to fruition, leading to Minogue's performance of the track, garnering the artist another global chart-topper in countries like Australia and the UK. 8. "All The Lovers" Released as the lead single from her eleventh studio album, Aphrodite , Kylie Minogue's "All The Lovers" is a 2010 hit for the ages. "Better the Devil You Know" One of Kylie Minogue's 1990 hits, "Better the Devil You Know" comes from her third studio album, Rhythm of Love , and served as its lead single. The dance-pop track shows a departure from Minogue's "girl next door" image, marking a pivotal moment in the artist's career as more sex appeal and independence were added to her music. "Better the Devil You Know" received high critical acclaim and was a commercial success as it charted in countries like Australia, the UK, France, Sweden, Ireland, and Germany. 4. "Love At First Sight" A hit from 2002, "Love At First Sight" comes from Minogue's eighth studio album, Fever , serving as the album's third single. Minogue's dance-pop rendition was originally released under the title "Locomotion" in 1987, serving as her debut single and becoming one of the biggest selling Australian records of the '80s. After its initial success, the artist was signed to PWL Records and the single was released worldwide under the title "The Loco-motion," leading to its major commercial success in countries like Canada, the UK, and the US. 2. "In Your Eyes" Another sensual dance-pop hit from Minogue's eighth studio album, "In Your Eyes" was released January 21, 2002, as the album's second single. The track's release in Europe was delayed by a month due to the continued success of "Can't Get You Out of My Head," eventually being released February 18, 2002. Hitting another milestone in her career, "In Your Eyes" debuted at number one in Australia and was certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). Still a favorite to this day, "In Your Eyes" was performed during Minogue's 2002 Fever Tour and has appeared on most of her concert setlists since, including the artist's 2025 Tension Tour. 1. "Can't Get You Out of My Head" The lead single from Fever , Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" was released in September 2001 and continues to be a fan favorite to this day. • Review: "Little Man" - Jeremy M

“Little Man” is the latest single from the marvelous Jeremy M. Going out into the world on your own is quite possibly the scariest thing you’ll ever have to do. For a majority of our lives, we spend it with those who are closest to us whether it’s our family members or our friends. No matter the situation they are always there to reassure us that it’s going to be okay. But when they are gone and it’s just us all by ourselves the fear kicks in and the thoughts start to take over. “Little Man” is a song that highlights those fears and gives us courage to rise above and power through life, because no matter how scary something may seem, not doing it will lead to some of our greatest regrets. “Little Man” begins with the most ethereal, nature filled sounds. The birds begin to chirp, reminding me that a new day has started with more opportunities to become better than the day before. Jeremy M has such a soothing and delicate voice that just makes you want to play this track on repeat. I couldn’t get enough of this song. It was so beautifully written, especially with lyrics like, “And I remember who I am again” and “Slow down, fly low / Look out through the window.” Paired with the lyrics were the soft drums and this shimmering sound throughout which gave it that warm feeling. Overall, this track was so elegant and serene in every possible way.   Jeremy M is a 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Newcastle upon Tyne, England. While he has been writing music since his teenage years, it wasn’t until the 2020 pandemic when he started compiling them together to make spectacular music. Jeremy creates music that is so notable and shows the raw reflections of his life. His genre can be categorized as indie pop with his heartfelt lyrics and unique sounds. “Little Man” is a lovely song, and I highly recommend you give it a listen as well as some of his other great tracks. • Review: "hotel" - Ana Kahan

Situationships are very difficult to process. The romance shifting from hot to cold for seemingly no reason, putting in effort without seeing it reciprocated, and being treated as an option rather than “the one” is all undeniably painful. Ana Kahan creates a heartfelt story that is a true representation of these conflicting, overwhelming emotions that come with situationships in her song “hotel”. Even with all the negatives of a situationship, there are moments where the positive moments are strong enough to convince you to hold on to the relationship. A sudden influx of gifts, compliments, loving words and touches - its what you have always wanted from that person, and now that they've began to give what your heart has been craving, its hard for you to pull away from them again. Unfortunately, the reality tends to be that its not hard for them to pull away from you, especially when their affection only comes in limited quantities before disappearing again. This constant back and forth and internal debates of "do they?" or "don't they?" can truly alter how you feel as a person and how you navigate love. The lyric "You pay for dinner and wine and it's a delicate line. Is it love or just a hotel?" conveys these feelings and inner conflicting emotions perfectly. How can someone treat you so nicely, dote on you, and be affectionate only for you to realize it was a one sided, empty love when they walk away as if it all meant nothing? This is a question that can run through your mind as you listen to Ana Kahan's "hotel" and get reminded that you are not alone in this experience. Ana Kahan has a very distinct voice that has incredible range and variety. Her tone is very clear and full, making each lyric she enunciates easy to feel and understand. The background music and piano compliments Ana Kahan’s vocals throughout the song. There are also moments where there are echoes of Kahan’s voice in the background, which adds an almost ethereal vibe to the song that makes it feel as if you will float away with her vocals. The simplicity of the piano and the supporting music makes the power of Kahan’s vocals and powerful lyricism really shine through. It feels like a calm, Summer’s night drive with the windows down imbued into one amazing song. “hotel” ends similarly to how it began: with a question that Kahan seems to be trying desperately to understand throughout the length of the song. “hotel” is a very moving song. It is the type of song that you must listen to in silence while grasping the full meaning of every deep lyric. The silence will continue even once the song is over as you are left reflecting on your own experiences that Kahan conveys so beautifully through her song.  Los Angeles-born Ana Kahan is a vocalist and songwriter with music that is equally as powerful and inspiring as she is. While studying vocal performance at the Frost School of Music in Miami, Ana Kahan went through two difficult battles with cancer. The surgery left her with a paralyzed vocal cord, but after years of recovery and radiation, Ana Kahan reclaimed her voice with amazing resilience. Her passion for singing and music has never faded. Ana Kahan has dreamed of being a singer since she was very young. Now, she is re-emerging in the music scene to continue pursuing her unwavering passion for music. Her debut single "hotel" was released on April 4th of 2025, and marks a huge milestone in her music career as she powers through with inspiring dedication and perseverance. Ana Kahan previously teamed up with the Dolphins Cancer Challenge and sang the National Anthem at a Miami Dolphins football game in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Ana Kahan is an inspiration to many, incredible and all its synonyms, and truly an upcoming force to be reckoned with in the music industry. The world is prepared to know Ana Kahan's name and we are all eagerly anticipating her next songs! Written By Kyler Griggs FOLLOW ANA KAHAN: Instagram | Spotify  | TikTok  | Facebook  | YouTube

  • Review: "Baby Steps" - Abbey Lane

Abbey Lane offers encouragement to those who may be struggling to see the joy of life in hard moments. We gain an understanding of how she feels while also being able to process what we're feeling. One of my favorite lines from the beginning says, "Loosen up the grip I got a hold of in my mind / Finding all the urges that would leave me / Paralyzed / Might get a little dark sometimes / But today I stood in sunlight / No I won't let it get me down." Personally, this line resonates with me because I have a tendency to push myself into seeing the good in every situation even when it's hard. I think the chorus holds a lot of value when it comes to the overarching theme that's being conveyed. We come to appreciate the support we're getting from the artist. The chorus says, "Today I got my head off my sofa / Seems small but it's progress and so far / I've been making baby steps to my front door / There's so much to get up for / So I'll keep trying." There's beauty in knowing that a person is trying to shift their mindset. The tone of the song is rather introspective. Abbey Lane is looking inward trying to better understand herself. By doing so she not only understands herself better, but she also creates a way for us to take a deeper look at ourselves as well. This bleeds into the mood which happens to be a mix of melancholic yet hopeful. While it makes you feel slightly sad that you're stuck in what may feel like a never ending loop of sadness, you're also hopeful that with time and careful steps you'll get to where you want to be. Instrumentation contributes to the overall vibe of the song, giving it the slower, melancholic feel. The blend of acoustic guitar, drums, and the keyboard help fold the lyrics into the rest of the song, creating a cohesive piece. Abbey Lane showcases her love for music and her insane talent through her first single of 2025 “Baby Steps.” Through her 13 years of experience in the music realm, it’s becoming increasingly noticeable that she pours her whole heart into her music. She’s accomplished a great deal including collaborating with writers like Yung Bleu and Tenille Arts . Abbey Lane recently performed at Old Bar Beach Festival and Rockhampton River Festival . Her 2024 debut EP drew a lot of attention with the track “Darling” which won Best Folk Song of The Year at the ASA awards. If you’re looking for music that’s easily relatable, check out Abbey Lane! • Review: "Go On" - Birkir Blær

Not being able to be yourself is a challenge many of us face in life. There will always be someone who comes into your life and tries to control you. They are so focused on what is wrong with you and how they can change you, rather than seeing you for who you truly are. Tons of people will come and go throughout your whole lifetime and the ones that try and change you are the ones who simply aren’t for you. If you can’t be yourself then what is the point in entertaining those who don’t appreciate your brilliant, authentic self. Birkir Blær released his brand-new single titled “Go On” a song that shows resilience through never backing down from who we are. “Go On” has so many musical elements and instruments that make the entire song so funky and vibe heavy. I really enjoyed how he used his own vocals to create the effect of an instrument. The song opened up with what I thought was a trumpet but once it got closer to the lyrics you could hear how it was simply just him. Along with his extraordinary talent to create instruments with his vocals his signing was remarkable. He transitioned from super high notes to low notes so effortlessly within the matter of seconds. There is so much to this track from the vocals to the instruments right down to pop funk it conveys.   Birkir Blær is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter, producer and outstanding instrumentalist. He is from Akureyri, Iceland but lives in Stockholm, Sweden making time to perform in both countries. While he draws inspiration from numerous genres like R&B and soul he doesn’t want to be categorized under just one. But rather many because his music is so diverse and hits so many listeners. He started releasing music in 2018 with his first single titled “Picture” and later went onto winning the Swedish Idol competition in 2021. Blær has made quite the musical career for himself, and I highly recommend that you listen to what else he has created. Follow his social medias below and stay in touch to never miss another release. • Review: "Misery" - Mikayla Menzies

Have you ever been sick while on a trip? It is perhaps one of the worst things that could happen while travelling– while you’re supposed to be having fun and enjoying the sights, you are instead struck by an illness that takes over your entire body, and all you can think about is how nice it felt while you were healthy. Mikayla Menzies’ latest single “Misery” navigates the complexities of feeling emotional and physical pain, and the painful road we drive toward healing. The track captures that complete trapped feeling we get during our lowest points in life, as if we have no escape from whatever ails our bodies and minds. But “Misery” has us nevertheless looking to the light, for those moments of solace that help us along to hope for the best. If you love soft and emotional songs, then you are going to fall head over heels for “Misery”. I’m definitely one of them, and I absolutely adore how heartfelt every single piece of this track sounds. The soundscape is gorgeously rich, with moments of airy wandering that are mixed with tense times that have you feeling along with the narrator’s pain. The chorus and verses complement one another in a way that has the song sounding complete, whole. I especially loved the bridge, which takes on a slightly different tone than the rest of the track– with its heavier percussion, you can really feel the tension in the lyrics. Mikayla sings, “I just wanna go home” again and again, and I think the entire message hits harder when you learn that “Misery” was written after Mikayla’s road trip when she suffered from a mysterious illness. Caught in a whirlwind of confusion and aches, a lot of us can relate to the feeling of longing for not your destination, but your home after dealing with all the pain. If it’s not obvious enough already, “Misery” is a song with a message that I can’t get enough of– it’s got the perfect balance between a varied, dynamic soundscape that still maintains its core tone, while also having lyrics that can speak to a multitude of experiences. There’s something for everyone in “Misery”, especially if you’ve ever been on a sick-stricken road trip. Based in Victoria, British Columbia, Mikayla Menzies is a singer-songwriter who creates music that expresses herself and heals the soul. She hails from the suburbs of Ottawa, Ontario, and her earlier years are marked by personal tragedy; she has taken these moments and channelled them into her writing, infusing her music with honesty and raw experience. Her music speaks to the lost, alone, and trapped, and it frees them in making them feel seen, offering hope and connection when faced with sorrow. Her debut single “Wildfire” released in 2018, and was followed by a number of other singles throughout the years since. “Misery” marks the beginning of Mikayla’s upcoming EP, which will further explore mental health, grief, and resilience– and all the things that make Mikayla’s music hers. To keep track of her EP, you should drop her a follow on any of her platforms, and of course enjoy the rest of her music while you’re at it! • EP Review: "Lonely Boy" - Joveth

Santa Barbara, California based artist, Joveth, shares his deep personal stories through his passionate and emotional debut EP, "Lonely Boy". TRACKLIST Lonely Boy Say My Name We're Over Burn It Bubblegum Money Can't Buy Happiness Born in the Philippines, raised in Sweden, and now taking on the music scene in California, Joveth takes inspiration from his diverse and unique upbringing to help define his artistry. His dream of making music truly all began at the age of 12, after something sparked in him while attending a James Blunt concert. After that, he started writing his own songs, singing at local karaoke nights, as well as taught himself how to play piano and produce music. He found himself using songwriting as emotional outlet, writing about his own personal experiences, wanting to turn negative situations into something positive with his art. He uses a large blend of genres such as Synth-Pop, EDM, RnB, Hip-Hop, and Rock to create a diverse sound that just about anyone could vibe to. He takes inspiration from artists like The Weeknd , Jon Bellion and John Legend . After officially debuting as an artist last year with his first single, "Say My Name", Joveth has been consistently releasing singles in anticipation for his first EP release, "Lonely Boy". This EP represents the personal struggles Joveth has gone through in his life over the past four years, almost like diary entries that he is willing to share with the world in hopes that we as listeners can relate. Lets dive into these tracks! Lonely Boy We start off the EP with the title track, "Lonely Boy", which is a highly emotional ballad. Starting out with gentle piano, the song builds with a hip-hop influenced beat until it reaches a surprise break down with a EDM outro. Joveth sings a melody with a nostalgic structure, his vocals super smooth and fully controlled. "Lonely Boy" echoes a story of leaving a relationship with someone you still love, knowing that you will miss them; but there's something inside of you that needs to be alone sometimes, almost like you're chronically lonely, and it's hard for you to get too close to people. You're almost addicted to the feeling of longing and regret, knowing that you could've just stayed. You wish now that you could go back, or at least have the chance to make it up to them. Say My Name Next, we have "Say My Name", which was Joveth's first ever single release. This track is about facing your own inner demons, and not letting them get the best of you anymore. It's a moment of self-discovery, empowerment and not being afraid to show your true colors. Joveth is breaking free from his past-self here and screaming it out loud from the roof tops exactly who he is, and he is proud of it. "Say My Name" has a heavy, dark electro-pop soundscape with an almost haunting, eerie atmosphere, shocking groove changes and a very powerful, energetic tone to keep you on your toes. We're Over "We're Over", is about trying to come to terms with the end of a relationship. It's that raw moment when you realize it's really over, and you might not necessarily get the exact closure you wanted or needed, but you're trying to find your own ways to work through the pain. Sometimes the only way towards acceptance and moving on is to allow yourself to feel the heartbreak to it's fullest extent, and remind yourself of why you had to let them go in the first place. "We're Over" has a very hip-hop and RnB influenced rhythm and melody, with some soul in it's groove, along with hints of EDM production throughout to add a bit of electronic flare. Burn It "Burn It", similarly to "Say My Name" to is another track about not letting the darkness inside yourself get the best of you. It's time to recognize the strong, resilient and powerful person you are so you can fight through those monsters and demons battling within your mind. You're tired of letting them take control over you, so it's time to burn it all down; then maybe once the smoke clears, you'll finally get the peace and clarity you've been craving and searching for all this time. "Burn It" relies heavily on electronic instrumentation and production, creating a soundscape that is dark, distorted and super bad ass. You almost feel like you're in a video game. Bubblegum "Bubblegum" reflects on the mistakes that were made in a relationship during your young and dumb years, and how you might still have that person in your life if it weren't for that behavior. You're so incredibly regretful for how you acted, that now you're on a path of self-destruction, knowing that you'll never get them back. "Bubblegum" has a pop/rock style with electric guitar, an energic beat and a little bit of a nostalgic vibe in it's groove. Although Joveth sings with weight and angst, the song still has a brightness that makes you want to get up and dance. If I had to compare it to something, I'd say if you're a fan of 5 Seconds of Summer , you'll definitely love this song. Money Can't Buy Happiness We end the EP with an ear-worm and wholesome message, "Money Can't Buy Happiness". In the midst of finally kickstarting his music career and signs of success, Joveth wants to stay humble.
