  • Review: "Forget July" - Out in Front

“Forget July” is an infectious new tune by none other than Out in Front, a talented Rock-band located in Los Angeles. The lyrics encapsulate this concept by using metaphors, specifically the idea of “playing a part”. A line directly from the song reads as follows, “Light’s out, we're done playing the parts/ You only see me in the dark / Like nothing happened.” Here, the cracks in the facade of this song’s relationship begin to crack. Through the rest of the lyrics, it’s implied this love was conditional, one-sided, or both. The word “July” is also symbolic, it's used to parallel a significant time in the relationship which led to its demise. We all have that one memory which we can trace back to an eventual breakup, and “Forget July” preaches about it. As for its sound, “Forget July” displays some incredible guitar and drum instrumentals. The word which I would utilize to describe the mood and tone of this song is electrifying. If you’re looking for a great comparison to the style of this track; I would name the “Brand New Eyes” album by Paramore as a reference. The empowering nature of “Forget July’s” lyrics is only amplified by Maddie Renner’s delivery. Her vocals are not only silky smooth, they are surrounded by excellently timed instrumental pauses. This causes a real build-up of energy when the guitar enters again. On the whole, this is a masterfully performed and produced rock and roll song. Out in Front is a Los Angeles-based Rock band with a particularly interesting origin story. All three members Madie Renner, Isaiah Volk, and Ryen Wagner met at a tennis club. Their mutual love for garage jams then turned into a professional venture into the music industry. With nearly 12,000 monthly Spotify listeners, Out in Front has created an excellent sound for themselves with Maddie on vocals, Ryen on bass, and Isaiah playing the drums. The band will soon tour again to promote their newly released debut EP! • Album Review: "Alter Ego" - Lisa

Finally, the K-pop and Global Superstar Lisa has released her highly anticipated debut album, “Alter Ego." Throughout the album, we get to meet her alter egos, Vixi, Sunni, Roxi, Speedi, and Kiki, who encompasses Lisa’s overall versatility with a variety of different genres and overall themes of confidence, empowerment, self-growth, luxury, and love. TRACKLIST Born Again (feat. Doja Cat & RAYE) Rockstar Elastigirl Thunder New Woman (feat. ROSALÍA) FXCK UP THE WORLD (feat. Future) Rapunzel (feat. Megan Thee Stallion) Moonlight Floor (Kiss Me) When I’m With You (feat. Tyla) BADGRRL Lifestyle Chill Dream Debuting in 2016 under YG Entertainment, Lisa is the youngest member of Blackpink and is known to be the group's main rapper and main dancer. The girls quickly gained immense popularity both in South Korea and overseas and became one of the biggest girl groups from the 2010's. In 2021, Lisa would be the third member to make her solo debut under YG, releasing the single "LALISA," with the lead single being the same name and her smash, hip-hop dance hit "MONEY." Towards the end of 2023, the girls announced they would go on hiatus to focus on their solo endeavors, and each member started their own management to manage their own solo work. On February 4th, 2024, Lisa announced her own management company, LLOUD, and soon signed under RCA Records to release her future solo works, including her debut album, "Alter Ego." Born Again (feat. Doja Cat and RAYE) “Born Again” is the perfect opening for the album and was the final single to be released. As the title suggests, Lisa tells us that she has been reborn with this disco-esc track with Doja Cat and RAYE. The song talks about her growth as an individual and being reborn into a better version of herself, which pays homage to her alter egos. She isn’t the person she was once before, and she is addicted to being someone new. Lisa is multidimensional, and she understands that. The track is sleek and classy with strings in the background but also funky and upbeat, demonstrating the confidence that all three of these women exude. Doja Cat and RAYE’s features can be surprising at first, but similar to Lisa, they are both multi-faceted within their catalog and are always trying to reinvent themselves with every project they put out. Rockstar “Rockstar” is the second track on “Alter Ego” and the first single released back in the summer of 2024. The song features a sample from the iconic hit from Tame Impala, “New Person, Same Old Mistakes." Lisa once again displays her confidence in this hard-hitting and exhilarating sound, making it known that she is the definition of a rockstar. Lyrics such as “Every city that I go’s my city” and “Make your favorite singer wanna rap, baby, lala” give the image that Lisa knows that she is the topic of conversation and isn’t someone who will lay low. The song is also very fast-paced and almost feels like you are racing with her on the track, giving that aspect of the fast, chaotic lifestyle of a rockstar. It only slows down during the bridge, where you hear the Tame Impala sample the most, and that’s when it seems like Lisa is finally basking in all of her glory before the song picks up again with a harsh but satisfying beat drop. Elastigirl “Elastigirl” is the bouncy, sexy third track off of “Alter Ego." The strong theme of self-empowerment is heard heavily in this song, with bass drums booming and some Thai pop elements throughout. Lisa showcased that she is versatile and is not a one-trick pony. She has many tricks up her sleeve and knows that whatever you throw her way, she will make it work. With lyrics like, “You can watch me hit the ground, and I snap right back,” and “Oh baby, this ain’t a performance, it’s a show,” Lisa knows that she can adapt and mold into anything she wants, similar to the superhero Elastigirl. Thunder “Thunder” is the fourth track on “Alter Ego,” and here Lisa takes a direct jab at her haters. Since being a member of Blackpink, Lisa has always faced criticism, no matter what she has done. This song is the perfect clap back to those critics, and throughout the song, she discusses how she deserves to be where she is now but also deserves more success in the future. Lyrics such as “You can’t put me in a box, you can’t make me stop” and “I’ll take my place up ahead, know you said I’ll never get by” demonstrate that she doesn't want to be seen as one-dimensional. The song is electric and powerful, a great way to see into Lisa’s “never back down” personality. Also, a nice touch to the production is how you can envision hearing the thunder with her "uh huhs," which is when the beat kicks in. New Woman (feat. ROSALÍA) “New Woman” is the fifth track and was the second lead single off “Alter Ego,” featuring ROSALÍA. Like “Born Again," Lisa is all about learning more about who she is as a person and becoming a new woman in this new age of her life. She highlights how she wants to start brand new and leave any pain she has had in the past. She wants to move forward and look at the positives in her life, soaking in everything she has experienced. I think this song best describes this new era of Lisa as this track still has that bold confidence that she is known for, but she has taken a new, fresh approach to it. The song is very light and airy, with beautiful synths and percussion that make you feel like you’re on top of the world. ROSALÍA adds a perfect touch to the track and helps switch the dynamic up, giving the listeners something to look forward to when they return. FXCK UP THE WORLD (feat. Future) “FXCK UP THE WORLD” is the final lead single and the sixth track on “Alter Ego," featuring the rapper Future. This track best exudes Lisa’s alter ego, Vixi, as she is known to wreak havoc for fun. This song showcases Lisa’s party-girl side, wanting to create as much chaos as possible while having fun and being in control. With lyrics “Walked in causing havoc, yes that is a habit,” and “Stay as busy as I want to, takin’ trips to escape a bit,” Lisa is showcasing that she loves to stay in her lane of business, but sometimes she just needs to go a little crazy to stay sane. The hard-hitting track makes you want to sing along with the girls on a night out and be more reckless than usual. It’s such a fun song and so in your face that the chorus is constantly stuck in your head. Future adds a slick rap that slides smoothly on the beat and is a great transition within the song. The track is more rap-focused, so I think having a well-known and talented rapper like Future on it was a perfect addition. Lisa also released a solo version of the song, which replaces Future's rap with her own. Rapunzel (Feat. Megan Thee Stallion) “Rapunzel” is a laidback but up-tempo, crisp, percussion-based track, similar to New Woman. It’s also the seventh track on “Alter Ego and features the Miss Hottie herself, Megan Thee Stallion. In this track, Lisa describes her lavish lifestyle and how she is again soaking in everything she has earned over her career. She used the analogy of Rapunzel’s hair and her achievements, such as wealth, saying the two are incredibly long and luxurious. This song also displays how Lisa wants to brag about herself and her success, not feeling ashamed about it one bit. Megan and Lisa share that in common, so having them on a track together works so well. Megan gives a fun, classic Megan Thee Stallion rap, incorporating that “Hot Girl Energy” we all know and love. Like "FXCK UP THE WORLD," Lisa also released a solo version of the song with her own rap verse. Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me) “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)” is the eighth track on “Alter Ego” and the third single. Lisa uses another well-known song for the sample, this time using "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer. The song takes the classic 90’s pop-folk love ballad and turns it into a pop, disco-based track where Lisa describes the sensation of falling in love for the first time. She explained that she had not written this particular song, and it wasn't about a specific experience. However, she does sing about being in love when you’ve never experienced it before and how you can navigate those reoccurring feelings. When I'm With You (feat. Tyla) “When I’m With You” is the ninth track of “Alter Ego” and seems to be the continuation of “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)." The track features the South African pop star Tyla and has a smooth trap and R&B beat. The song describes how you are now fully committed to your partner and can’t imagine being with anyone else but them, even despite other circumstances. Lisa and Tyla also sing about how their partner has brought out a new side in them, and they can be fully themselves without judgment. Lyrics such as “Oh yeah, just look how you got me, got me out of my body,” and “Anyways, any day, I make plans for you, like it when you tell me what to do” describe how love-struck they are and smitten over their partner, to the point they would drop anything for them. Tyla’s light and R&B-laced vocals add a lot of sweetness to the track and go hand in hand with Lisa’s rap verse. In contrast to "Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)," Lisa and Tyla participated in writing this track. BADGRRRL “BADGRRL” is the tenth track off “Alter Ego,” and Lisa is taking the reigns on her relationship. She talks about how she wants to be spontaneous with her partner and doesn’t want to keep up the nice girl persona anymore. She is completely letting go and wants to be more wild, similar to “FXCK UP THE WORLD." You definitely have that carefree feeling when listening, and though the song is short, it’s the perfect segway to the next couple of songs off the album. Lifestyle “Lifestyle” is the eleventh track off “Alter Ego,” which is another fast-paced, upbeat track that gives you a feeling of exhilaration and party hype, similar to "Rockstar" and "FXCK UP THE WORLD." The best way to describe the song is a luxurious club anthem, and Lisa once again talks about how she is the definition of an “it girl." She talks about how she’s in control of her life and that her success just comes naturally to her. Lisa’s success is her lifestyle, and she has reached an icon status that she is obsessed with. Chill “Chill” is the twelfth song off of “Alter Ego” and is a cold break-up song. Lisa talks about how the relationship with her partner won’t last long and that she isn’t ready for a committed relationship, which contrasts the lyrics in “When I’m With You." Lisa once again shows that she has different sides of her, and sometimes she can be a heartbreaker, even if she doesn’t mean it. Throughout the song, she is telling her partner that they have to get over their relationship and realize that this is just who she is as a lover. With lyrics such as “Mean what I say, boy, I ain’t gonna tease ya, blame it on a love gone wrong, yeah, yeah,” and “Only want you for the thrills, come on fast, it won’t last, you need to ch-ch-chill,” displays that she isn’t going to lead her partner on and is going to be straightforward with them when it comes to ending it all. The track's eerie and chilling synth production makes sense with the song's title, giving it almost a horror-like feel. Dream “Dream” is the final song on “Alter Ego” and ends the album on a bittersweet but heartfelt note. Lisa talks about her partner who got away and how she regrets leaving them. She reminisces about her lover and how she wants to hear back from them, even if it’s just a simple conversation. It’s obvious, however, that her partner does not reciprocate her feelings, and she knows that this idea of them coming back is only just a dream in her head. Lyrics like “If all that we were is all that we’ll ever be, it’s bittersweet, at least a girl can dream,” and “It’s like you’re here with me, whenever I close my eyes, it’s taking me back in time,” describes how Lisa is feeling perfectly and the difference between her hidden fantasies and reality. The heartbreaking and innocent ballad ends with the lyric, “Can we be friends, at least,” indicating how badly she wants to see her partner one last time. This song, in particular, shows Lisa's more vulnerable side, which contrasts some of the other tracks but is a great way to close out this chapter of her debut album. As a big fan and supporter of Blackpink, I was so excited to hear what all the girls would bring to the table regarding solo work. All of them are extremely talented in various fields, and I knew that being under their own management would give them more control. Lisa did not disappoint with her album; the overall concept was fun, yet interesting to see how she sees herself. I love how she took a moment to show her fans that there is more to her than what we see and that she has layers to her as a person and an artist. The overall production and variety in genres made this such a great listen, plus knowing that Lisa participated in writing most of the songs was amazing. My favorite song off the album is "When I'm With You," and I hope Lisa does more R&B-inspired tracks as this is her first take on the genre. It's definitely one of my favorite albums so far in 2025, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us this upcoming year! • Review: "Goodbye All Over Again" - Gareth Dunlop

Gareth Dunlop's newest single, "Goodbye All Over Again," is set to make its world debut on February 27th. The track was written nearly seven years ago but will premiere for the first time on an episode of the hit NBC drama, Found. Dunlop's songwriting style fits perfectly for a medium as dynamic and emotive as television. "Goodbye All Over Again" is a powerful piano ballad of love and loss. Dunlop writes about remembering someone you once loved and finding the beauty within it. The singer-songwriter's signature poeticism makes "Goodbye All Over Again" completely moving. Between the combination of the grand building piano instrumentation and Dunlop's fiery vocals, the song could not be more cinematic. Paired with Found, "Goodbye All Over Again," is bound to make a splash. Gareth Dunlop is known for his songwriting and "Goodbye All Over Again" is no exception. "Goodbye All Over Again" is full of emotionally stirring lyrics that express the universal frays of grief and loss. Even the simplest lines pack the strongest punches. "I can't change the final scene, my friend" is just one of the many effective, heartfelt moments the piano ballad brings. Dunlop's writing is poignant and singular, able to describe emotions we all feel in a way that is both relatable and undeniably his. Simply put, "Goodbye All Over Again" is full of soul, both in the writing and Dunlop's vocals. As an artist, Gareth Dunlop wants to make music that moves, and on "Goodbye All Over Again" he more than succeeds. Gareth Dunlop is a singer-songwriter-producer from Northern Ireland. Found is not the first debut of Dunlop's music on television. Hit TV shows including This is Us, Lucifer, and Suits have all featured one of his songs, not to mention mainstream films like The Best of Me or Safe Haven. Dunlop's music has received mass acclaim. Publications including The Independent, The Irish Post, Daily Express, and Record of the Day--to name a few--have all praised Gareth's artistry. Dunlop currently has over 15 million downloads and 120,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone, and his career is only growing. You can listen to "Goodbye All Over Again," along with the rest of Dunlop's discography, on all streaming platforms now. • Review: "Blow" - Fionn

In Fionn’s new single “Blow,” released February 28th, the idea of being acknowledged as lesser by men, or not even acknowledged at all, is on full blast. "Blow" acknowledges the rage of women having to “playing nice” due to societal standards set up, exploring both the professional world in the first verse, clocking in and “[pasting] a smile on,” before their boss “mansplains how to pour a drink / [they’ve] made for months.” Not only that, Fionn also explores their own experience in the music world as well, with a guy at a party saying that their “melodies are clichè” and “who needs a chorus anyway?” Throughout it all, Fionn makes it clear that they just have to “nod like a brainless fool,” and with how the men in this song act, it makes it perfectly clear that the ladies of Fionn are assumed to be these brainless fools when they’re anything but. “Blow” is right up my alley. It's guitar-heavy, and the rock influence is apparent and works really well with the emotions that come with the song. Having the verses be more quiet than the explosive chorus fits the song's idea: keeping in any rage due to “playing nice” before blowing up and finally having enough. Not only that, the experiences talked about in the song are relatable, even if I’m not making music; the idea of having to act like a  “brainless fool” is something I believe every woman goes through that we shouldn’t have to, it’s a great rendition of feminine rage. I highly  recommend this song for listeners of “Bad Idea Right?” by Olivia Rodrigo , Fionn’s rock-influence and explosive chorus will be right up your alley. Fionn, also known as twin sisters Alanna and Brianne Finn-Morris, are based in Canada. Embracing the idea of Femme-Rock, the duo have not only gathered over 2 million streams on their music, they’ve also appeared on the cover of NEXT Magazine. With songs such as “Snake Behavior” and “Bad at Being Casual,” they’re discography is extensive, and you can catch it live, whether it’d be at Celtic Fest on March 16th or at The Pearl on April 4th. While not their first release of 2025 (with the first being a cover of System of a Down’s “Toxicity”), “Blow” brings the band into the new year with a bang, and fans will be eagerly awaiting their next drop. • Review: "Losing You" - Jack & Jack

Fighting isn’t always about winning the battle, it’s about winning the war. In order to win, you have to make sacrifices and give it your all. Just like a war, a relationship could face many battles. Although love is worth fighting for, sometimes you have to wave your white flag and choose your battles carefully. You might not always win, it’s not realistic. When you learn how to accept defeat, it’s easier to let go. When you grow and evolve, you are the true winner, instead of putting up a fight knowing it’s going to cause more harm. “Losing You” by Jack and Jack applies this mentality to the end of a relationship. It’s bittersweet to let go, but in the long run, they know they will be better off without them. It takes time to heal, and healing isn’t linear. We’ve all heard the phrase “there’s light at the end of the tunnel” and the lyric “but sometimes there’s light in the place you least expect” is drawn from that. Jack & Jack are comparing this relationship to the dark tunnel, and the light that’s where you least expect it can represent the realization that saying goodbye and ending things will ultimately bring you peace. A lot of these lyrics have a deeper meaning than what’s on the surface. Relationships can be compared to seasons. Seasons end and things change, it doesn’t snow in the summer. The lyric “You were mine, but the seasons are changin’” represents that and shows that it’s only natural to change, grow, and evolve. It’s saying that inevitably things have to end, so that we don’t live in a world where it snows in July. “It’s the end of the road we should face it” tells me that they know they shouldn’t run away from the truth, and that acceptance is the only way to move forward. The lyrics prove that they miss the highs of the relationship and have so much to say and to fight for, but sometimes things are better left unsaid and unresolved. It’s the internal conflict of holding on and letting go. Although it hurts, Jack & Jack are the true winners of this fight. Although they lost the one they loved, they are on the road to a more stable and sustainable path. “Losing You” is a song about the hard decision it takes to leave a relationship that is no longer serving you, one that is no longer healthy. Produced by Nick Pingree, Ben Cavanagh, Stefan Poole, Jack Edward Johnson, Roberto Cerletti, Jack Finnegan Gilinsky, and ChrisLee, this song takes the themes of acceptance and reflection to new heights. Jack & Jack are a power duo, combining their two skill sets to create true art. I’ve always known Jack Johnson to be the rapper of the duo, so to hear this soft melodic side of him was a nice surprise. I think both Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky balance each other out in this song, and together they really sound like a team. This track is more of a ballad with techno and electronic elements that can typically be found in a Jack & Jack song. Gilinsky does a great job creating the mood and setting the tone for the song. While listening, I can tell by how he’s singing that he’s truly reflecting on the relationship. The production and instrumentation of the song only add to their emotional storytelling. My meet & greet photo with Jack & Jack at their 2019 A Good Friend Is Nice Tour. Jack & Jack are two lifelong friends turned into viral sensations. I’ve been a fan of the pair for a long time, since they got their start on the app Vine and were part of a touring group called Magcon (notably with Shawn Mendes). Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky proved that two kids from Omaha, Nebraska could make it big. Their single “Rise” with Jonas Blue has over 914 million streams and their single “No One Compares To You” has over 265 million streams on Spotify and is certified GOLD by the RIAA. They are no strangers to success and have been everywhere from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Late Late Show with James Corden, a bunch of award shows like the VMA’s, EMA’s, and BBC Teen Awards, and have toured all around the world. They’ve also hit Top 25 on Top 40 radio and earned titles like “YouTube Artist on the Rise” and “Elvis Duran’s Artist of the Month” as well as cracking Shazam’s Top 5 Greatest Gainers. The pair broke free from major label deals and are now independent artists. They took a three-year music hiatus, but “Losing You” proves they are ready for their big comeback. I was lucky enough to not only see Jack & Jack on their 2019 A Good Friend Is Nice Tour, but also meet them. Yes, I had a meet & greet pass, but I was so excited to meet two artists I’ve admired for a long time. I’ve always known they’ve had talent, and I always liked them because of their music. They deserve all the success that is coming to them. Check out “Losing You” and give it a listen! Written By Alexa LaMalfa FOLLOW JACK & JACK: Instagram | Spotify  | TikTok  | Facebook  | YouTube

  • Review: "Still Can't Move On" - Etham

In life, things tend to be finite. Things end, people leave, and it can leave us sitting in the dust of the aftermath wondering exactly what just happened. Etham depicts this instance beautifully in the song “Still Can’t Move On”. Through artistic lyrics such as “I didn’t need anyone / Till you came and showed me how wrong I was”, Etham conveys the nearly earth-shattering grief that can come with the end of a relationship. Whenever a relationship ends, the human brain reacts in the same way as if someone close to you had died. Whether a platonic or romantic relationship, the end of something special can make one feel as if part of them had died with it.  The instrumentation of this track is key in telling the story being painted by the lyrics. A song about not being able to move on is incredibly vulnerable. This is emphasized by the thin instrumentation. The singer sings on top of one, maybe two instruments for most of the song. Rather than being able to hide behind heavy bass and thick drumbeats, the vocalist is incredibly exposed. In a way, the singer’s voice is just as vulnerable to small discrepancies being picked up as it is incredibly prominent. This follows along with the feelings that are communicated in the lyrics. Admitting to not being able to move on is an incredibly difficult feat. It requires surrendering the desire to appear strong and unbothered and puts someone at risk of rejection and judgement. This mirrors the instrumentation beautifully. Of course, Etham is a technically proficient singer and a skilled performer, so the discrepancies are nowhere to be found. This fantastic artist was born Etham Basden on March 2nd, 1997. He is a singer and songwriter from Reading in the United Kingdom. He began writing music at the age of twelve and was greatly inspired by the Beatles. At the age of fourteen, Etham began posting his song covers to YouTube. Shawn Mendes shared one of his covers, “Hurtful” by Erik Hassle, on the internet, which gave Etham some mainstream recognition. Soon thereafter, he signed to Virgin EMI. He released his first single under his full name. In 2015, he began releasing under his stage name “Etham”. He has toured the UK with John Newman and has solidified himself as a fantastic artist in the modern times. • Review: "I Love You as the Sun Comes Up" - Fran Pitcher

Romance can take you through days and nights, beginnings and endings, and fleeting moments. Fran Pitcher's "I Love You as the Sun Comes Up" captures that natural feeling of connection that two people can share, and how that connection can enrich your life. It begins off by contemplating youth and perseverance with the lyrics "I don't know if I'll make it to forty, but I'll try my hardest." The track moves on to ponder over the uncertain way life works, before the speaker grounds themself in the one fact they can, saying "I love you, that's all I know." In the lives people lead, there is never one answer to how to exist and why, and this song finds the stability and beauty that love can bring throughout life's every day struggles and metaphysical questioning. Bask in the euphoric sanctuary of love with this heartfelt and introspective song. Opening with glowing ambient instrumentals, percussion and Fran's low, soft vocals, "I Love You as the Sun Comes Up" sets an intimate mood. The sound of this song washes over you like a sunny day with elements like birds chirping blending beautifully with the chords and melody. A feeling of closeness comes through vocal layers of Fran's low voice and high feminine singing, performed by Fran's anonymous girlfriend through the chorus. It carries a sound that is both delicate and exciting with soft percussion racing rapidly before delving into an instrumental post-chorus interlude of keys, electric guitar, and synth chords. The instrumentals dissolve into a pulsing reverb sound that hits the ear with the spirit of a euphoric memory. Layered vocals join in again with the fast-paced instrumentals, bringing a tone of upbeat connection to the track. Let this song take you through romantic bliss and sanctuary with its heartwarmingly positive and personal sound. Fran Pitcher is an English artist and archeologist with an exciting indie dreampop musical style. Listeners can resonate with his expressive and personal songwriting and his ambient, freeing, and natural tone. His lyricism dives into relatable themes of love and relationships, and he creates an entrancing sonic experience through his production, vocal, and multi-instrumentalist talents. • Review: "Used To It" - CLOVER

Who doesn't love a groovy 60's styled song with lyrics that make you ponder what new love is like? CLOVER brings us the track "Used To It" with an energy that makes us want to just get up and dance. This song touches on the subject of how great new love can be but also how nerve wracking it is with lyrics like "Are you gonna be here tomorrow?" asking the question we all think in a new relationship. Of course, we all would love to be confident in the idea that the person we are with it THE one. As we all know - that's not always the case. Clover brings this idea with comfort that it's not just an individual case and it's much more frequent to feel this way. In the song "Used To It" by CLOVER, listeners will have a refreshing take on the idea that new love actually isn't everything that it seems. Taking inspiration from Maggie Rogers and Florence The Machine  with pop, soul and folk vibes throughout make it perfect for a relaaxing night in or driving near a beach. The song starts off with a funky beat but quickly explodes into such a catchy song that you'll be caught singing throughout your day. CLOVER brings an emotional honesty to the lyrics as well making the beat almost misleading being so happy with lyrics so heartfelt. CLOVER is a singer-songwriter living between Brooklyn, NY and Frenchtown, NJ who is gladly bringing the 60's/70's groovy feel back to modern pop music. After taking a spontaneous trip to Mexico with her partner followed by the global pandemic, she was then met with a year long cross-country busking adventure which brought her music to 20 different states. This nomadic adventure gives inspiration to "Used to It," the lead single coming from her highly anticipated EP Atlas which is now available to stream on all platforms along with a music video. • Review: "Needing Me Now" - Blake Stokes

"Needing Me Now" is the newest song from Blake Stokes , which is about missing your former significant other after they have left you for someone else. Stokes expresses his pain regarding this, and how he feels he’s been replaced by that person’s new romantic interest. He is discouraged that his ex has abandoned the relationship, even though he put a lot of time and effort into it. He doesn’t understand why his ex doesn’t love him anymore and moved on so quickly, and is understandably upset and frustrated by this. This is common when relationships abruptly end; sometimes it even means that your ex was potentially cheating on you with their new significant other before you both broke up, which adds to the hurting of the lyrics. The production builds upon itself throughout “Needing Me Now”. It begins acoustic, and then as the song progresses the beat is introduced, and the instrumentation in its entirety is amplified in the latter half of the song. This is reminiscent of Stokes’s increasing anger represented in the lyrics. The way “Needing Me Now” was made is very distinctive and fueled by creativity, and was well produced and mixed. It’s a fantastic mix of pop, alternative, and electronic music. It’s alike to an orchestra of guitar chords and drum fills. Stokes also has an incredible voice, and his vocals truly match the genres of the song; I don’t feel as though any artist could sing on this song other than him. Blake Stokes is an immensely talented music artist. He began his career in October 2023 with his debut single “Hollywood Girls”. He has released other amazing songs in addition to his debut and “Needing Me Now”, including “BURN IT DOWN”, “Aftershock”, and “Secrets”. He writes all of his own music and has also penned several tracks for other artists, in addition to producing them as well, such as liza and Kenzie Harris . He has posted multiple song covers on Instagram and TikTok, including “ALL MY LOVE” by Coldplay and “WILDFLOWER” by Billie Eilish . I really believe Blake Stokes is going to become the next big thing and I can’t wait to see it happen. • Review: "Dance After Darkness" - Scharliina

"Dance After Darkness"  covers a catchy beat with a layered and impactful story, overcoming struggles and embracing new strengths portrayed in lyrics. The song ebbs and flows from the pain and hurt the singer feels to turning the melody into an upbeat and resilient anthem. Lines like "They took the flowers from my fields"  symbolize lost innocence or hardships that stripped away joy, while "Now I am me, no longer caged"  highlights a powerful transformation. Scharliina makes note that although somber at times, this is not a sad song; It's a powerful message to support and recognize those who have felt broken or taken advantage of.  The melody builds from a softer beginning into a booming chorus, mirroring the journey that resilience takes. Balancing a beat that makes you get up and move but also sit down with reflection is a challenging aspect that Scharliina executes flawlessly. The beat and melody is ones that I can not get out of my head even after the first listen. Its lasting impact can be attributed to the production and powerful movement of the song. Scharliina moves audiences through her artistry and ability to convey perseverance through her incredible musical talent. The production and lyrics are only an aspect of music, but the confidence and passion Scharliina brings make the music take on a whole new meaning and impact. Scharliina is a 24-year-old songwriter, producer, actress and model. She has appeared in numerous high-profile TV series and films, most recently starring in the globally acclaimed Netflix hit The Abyss . • Review: "Blame Me" - Cass Reinhardt

"Blame Me" by Cass Reinhardt is a teenage anthem in which anyone can find something to resonate with its heartfelt lyrics. In Reinhardt’s words, she believes lyrically that the “song portrays the message of choosing not to blame yourself, even though someone else might be blaming you.” Her passionate vocals convey the struggle of moving on while being unfairly blamed by an ex-partner. The song emphasizes finding forgiveness within yourself, even when others may unfairly deem you unworthy. Its melancholic yet empowering tone captures the emotional turmoil of self-doubt and resilience. Through honest storytelling, Reinhardt encourages listeners to embrace their healing process without carrying the weight of misplaced guilt. Created from her bedroom, “Blame Me” features enchanting vocals and instruments that draw listeners into a deep, almost hypnotic, state. Reinhardt incorporates echo, reverb, space, and harmonic layers throughout the song, enhancing its dreamy and peaceful message. She also experiments with natural sounds, incorporating effects such as rain and wind that overall amplify the emotion and organic space the sound creates. The production is phenomenal, and “Blame Me” is by far one of my favorite songs I have reviewed because of it. Cass Reinhardt is a New York-based pop artist, songwriter, and producer known for her identity to the "sad girl" music aesthetic. She crafts songs inspired by heartbreak, loneliness, and the emotions tied to coming-of-age experiences she has experienced. For her, songwriting serves as a form of therapy, allowing her to create deeply relatable lyrics. As an experienced producer, she blends stripped-down instrumentation with utilizing pitch shifts, echo, reverb, and spatial effects to shape her distinctive sound. Her music captures an ethereal quality, solidifying her upcoming career and prosperity in the alt-pop scene. Written By Adalyn Reichenberger FOLLOW CASS: Instagram | Spotify  | TikTok  | YouTube
