Review: "I Don't Sleep" - Arden

It’s difficult to move on from a person when they know you like no other. In a new single by artist Arden, “I Don’t Sleep,” he portrays the conflict of trying to move on from a relationship and how letting go of someone who knew so well is easier said than done. What the song does execute well is mix multiple musical elements to create a unique pop track. The song wonderfully portrays the melancholic feeling the speaker is experiencing due to the end of the relationship. “I Don’t Sleep” truly does get stuck in your head and it’s so easy to picture yourself listening to the song during moments of emotional hardship. Arden’s “I Don’t Sleep” certainly deserves your listen as clear how much heart was put into the song.

As previously mentioned, “I Don’t Sleep” combines multiple musical elements to create one unique track. From the beginning of the song, it’s hard not to miss the details in the production, and it keeps you on your toes to see what direction the song goes as it progresses. The use of strings within the song is a nice touch and adds to the emotional intent. The lyrical content is vulnerable and perfectly paints the suffering of the speaker. Stand-out lyrics include “In another castle, I’m still waiting,” and “There’ll always be a part of me that’s yours.” These lyrics are examples of how well the song portrays heartbreak and longing. When listening to “I Don’t Sleep” you get a good idea of what kind of artist Arden is and it definitely makes you want to find out what else he has up his sleeve.

Arden is a 21-year-old artist based in the UK. His new song “I Don’t Sleep” was entirely written and produced by himself. He had a love of music from a young age and began learning more about producing as a teen. He is influenced by different genres, from hip-hop to electronic music. It’s clear that he puts a lot of detail into his work and enjoys experimenting with different styles to see where he fits best. He has had a few other releases over the past two years, including his album “Meraki” which was released in August last year. Arden is a fascinating artist and if you’re in the mood for new and exciting sounds, check him out.
