In a moody pop track, Belle McKee releases her first single of 2026. “MOVE”, released at the end of January, discusses McKee’s struggles with knowing she needs to move on, but being unable to get herself to take the steps away. The feeling is all too common: knowing that the relationship’s time is up, but being so attached that you cannot get yourself to leave. With electric guitars and an exasperated tone, McKee explains that even though the feeling is not reciprocated from her ex partner, she has never been a leaver and is not about to start now. The track is still upbeat and catchy, giving the vibe that McKee is more exasperated and angry at these feelings than sad and heartbroken.
“MOVE” opens gradually, with the electronic pulsations and guitar chords heard throughout the track growing as the intro progresses. McKee’s voice is young but defined, perfectly expressing the feelings of self annoyance behind the lyrics. The first verse is full of comparisons to things that are unmovable. She is an engine-less car, she is a movie with an ending never written, and she is stuck in an endless waiting game. In the chorus, she sings “I should get a move on / But I stick to you like glue / So I turn the truth off / Pretend to miss the clues / You never needed me the way I still need you / So how do I move on when I'm afraid to move”. The end of each line holds a repeated riff in the vocals that is a downward spiral, mimicking the downward spiral of the relationship.
Belle McKee is a Nashville based singer-songwriter. Born in a small town in New York, she graduated from Belmont University in May of 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Songwriting and a minor in Music Business, and also had taken Berklee College of Music classes online in high school. Her education has certainly helped streamline her career, but her songwriting and soundscapes come from her heart, as she aspires to share music that is honest and heartfelt with her listeners. In addition to “MOVE”, she has two EPs, an album, and a plethora of singles on listening platforms.
