Most people, like me, have gone through it. Getting close to someone only for them just hurt you in the end. B. Miles tells of her experience with her bopping newest single: “Too Close To The Flame”. She speaks on the upcoming album, explaining how her new music connects to her stories: “Which is why, ten years later, that EP—and a handful of songs I’ve carried with me—have become something larger. Something that’s been hiding in plain sight all along. Together, these songs form an album that tells the story I’ve been circling for a decade”. This song is a fun, upbeat anthem that also has strong meaning behind it! Perfect for driving around in your car and jamming out. While her vocals tell of her soul in the most beautiful way, that beat is undeniable!
The song starts off with a funky guitar, backed with a corresponding bass that thumps throughout the song. Her whisper vocals then tell listeners her story, encapsulating an eerie yet seductive vibe. Then a funky synth get added that perfectly meshes the end of the verse. The chorus then adds shakers, that follow throughout the rest of the song. So many elements come together, like the additional hi-hat adding more to dance to. As an excellent outro, she raises her range, pouring her heart in the finale. Overall, this song was a heartfelt jam!
B. Miles is a singer/songwriter hailing from New York. She has been talked about all over, with people describing her sound as “universally addictive” (Nylon) and “a bridge to pop music’s future” (Ones To Watch). Back in 2015, she released her debut EP Twenty Fifteen with breakout song “Salt”. “Salt”, her number one song on Spotify, currently has over 28 million streams. Since then, she has released many singles, EPs, and even a couple albums. Her following only continues to grow along with her voice, with performances at venues such as Bowery Ballroom in her hometown with her band mates and collaborators.
