  • Review: "Bye" - Midnight Til Morning

Throw yourself into an intoxicating, thrilling modern romance with “Bye” by Midnight Til Morning. The members of Midnight Til Morning brilliantly execute a detailed romance that has a multitude of layers through “Bye”, all giving their own flair and perspective to each verse & chorus. The song begins slowly and is led by piano, leading you to almost believe that this could be a ballad. Yet, just past the first verse, “Bye” explodes both in emotion and sound. The song invokes feelings that remind you of a sensation such as experiencing your first love, all with the charm of old-school pop. Although consisting of several members, the overall story told throughout “Bye” sounds cohesive and as if it’s directly coming from one person. Discussing love and unapologetically showing love & want for another person, “Bye” is the kind of track that pop music has been craving and needs to continue to lead with.   Telling the story of a deep-rooted romance challenged by time & distance, Midnight Til Morning’s “Bye” reaches out to listeners from its opening line. “Tell me when you leave, you won’t take off that necklace,” indicates both a disheartening, commonly shared experience as well as the first clue to the meaning behind this song. Regardless of the status of this relationship, it’s clear from the opening line that the love in “Bye” is being held onto as much as possible, rather than being thrown away. This track describes realistic hurt while additionally not shying away from emotion and dedication – actions & things that do not happen often in romance. Similar to love songs from groups such as The Backstreet Boys, Big Time Rush, One Direction, etc., Midnight Til Morning succeeds in both comforting and providing somewhat of a fantasy for listeners. Details throughout “Bye” about places like Paris and the Midwest exemplify a world that’s, in a way, outside of our own, while additionally showing how a romance can look with application of adventure and commitment. Visuals of “Parisian lights” and an “8:20” flight evoke reminders of beloved, classic love songs while simultaneously taking listeners on a journey that feels as if they’re reflecting and daydreaming at the same time. Midnight Til Morning is a trans-Pacific pop rock band formed on the Netflix’s Building the Band . Australians Mason Watts (age 25) and Conor Smith (22) came into collaboration with Americans Shane Appell (22) and Zach Newbould (22) through blind auditions on the Netflix show. Upon leaving Building the Band, the group was signed by Australian music company Chugg Music. With only a few weeks having passed since the competition, the group met in Australia and spent around a month in the studio altogether. All coming from solo careers, the four members of the group now bring their own uniqueness and qualities to create a sound that mixes modern pop & rock anthems. In August 2025, they announced a 20-date world tour that is anticipated to continue to grow. Alongside Benson Boone, Amy Allen (Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter), and a creative team, Midnight Til Morning co-wrote their debut single, “Bye”, signaling the beginning of what’s to be a breakout year for the group. • Review: "Pretty Pills" - heavy on the heart.

Part of the human experience is negative emotions. Without dark there cannot be light. Without the bad times there cannot be good. However, sometimes the negativity is overpowering. Sometimes it feels like you’re drowning and you have no way out. heavy on the heart. explores these raw emotions in the song “Pretty Pills”. In a beautiful combination of vulnerable lyrics and a driving instrumental, heavy on the heart. delves into the gritty reality of overpowering emotions and racing thoughts while simultaneously empowering audiences through it all. This is a song for anyone who has experienced codependency or struggled with mental health, as they will no doubt feel seen by the honesty in the lyrics. The song starts with a drum beat and rising synth before the powerful vocals enter with their moving message and haunting melodies. An electric guitar enters in the chorus and complements the vocals in their strength. This song has a lot of drive and it immediately catches the audiences’ attention. With such an emotionally moving message, the drums and guitar create the experience of having strong and overpowering emotions and struggling with mental health with seemingly no way out. This track transforms pain into beautifully polished instrumental and moving vocals, redefining personal empowerment in spite of the potential darkness that lies within all of us. heavy on the heart. is an alternative rock band from Long Island, New York. • Ellise The PRETTY EVIL Tour - Los Angeles

Ellise The PRETTY EVIL Tour via ellisestour.com Ellise’s latest album, PRETTY EVIL , is in my top 2 favorite albums of 2025, so far - and may honestly have earned its spot in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. The project has everything I need: vulnerable lyrics, morbid imagery, and dark beats. So, when she announced her first headlining tour, I knew I needed to purchase pre-sale tickets. Her show did not disappoint and was one of the most mesmerizing shows I have ever attended. From her stunning vocals to her magnetic stage presence, Ellise was a natural onstage and kept my attention from the very first note to the final encore. Ellise entering the stage to perform the opening track, "PRETTY." Ellise kicks off the show the same way she does the album: with the alluring track “PRETTY.” The song lulls the listener in with a lullaby before breaking into the energetic soundscape. Ellise opening both the album and the set with this track was ingenious, as it sets the complex emotional scene for the audience. Her innate ability to keep every person in the room completely engaged, hanging onto her every word, is admirable. I have been to a great number of concerts in my time, especially shows at small venues, but no one - other than big production stadium performers - has ever been able to astonish me in the way Ellise did. Despite it being her first headlining tour, the artist performed like a seasoned professional at the same level as the biggest names in music. One way Ellise proved her star power was her incredible stage presence. She utilized clever crowd work with eloquently spoken monologues and engaging sing-alongs. The show was not only live music, but a true performance. She gained eye contact with as many people as she could, if not every single person. Everyone in the crowd felt seen and appreciated, just like Ellise felt with us loving her songs. She shared before singing her two most vulnerable tracks, "feel better together" and "valentine," that the fans singing back the lyrics have changed the meaning to the songs. Many artists claim this; however, the authenticity behind Ellise's words was evident. Maybe it was the small, intimate venue, but I have never felt more touched by an artist's candor. Ellise performing "feel better together" and "valentine." Closing night being in Los Angeles, I expected one or two surprises. Further into the night, Ellise killed two birds with one stone. She surprised us by bringing out friend and fellow artist, Ella Boh , to sing their unreleased collaboration, "Die." The chemistry between the two artists was mystical as they performed the infectious new track, which they confirmed will be released "very soon." Ellise performing unreleased song, "Die," with Ella Boh. Ellise made the night even better by making the perfect decision for the supporting act. Ella Red warmed up the crowd with her electric personality, clever lyrics, and adorable homemade ballerina dress. From the moment she came on stage, the audience was energized. Her crowd work was infectious, making people laugh or cry at the right moment. It is rare to see an opener have as much charisma as the headliner, but Red brightly shined. By the time Ellise came on stage, the entire crowd was ecstatic and ready to scream every single lyric to PRETTY EVIL. Ella Red performing "Ball and Chain." Seeing Ellise bring this flawless project to life in person was the highlight of my year. Her unmistakable talent and down-to-earth yet ethereal presence make her one of the most desired performers to see live. From her hauntingly beautiful vocals to her vivid imagery, Ellise became one of my favorite artists after releasing PRETTY EVIL. While I have listened to her for years (dating back to me including her in my Halloween 2023 playlist ), this new project unlocked a new enthusiasm for her music. Being able to witness her magic in person is an honor, and if you ever get the opportunity to see her live, do not hesitate to jump on it. You will not regret it. • Review: "tightrope" - Savanna Leigh

Savanna Leigh's latest single, "tightrope," invites listeners to walk the line alongside her, experiencing the pain of losing a best friend. Falling from the heights of platonic love, Leigh offers up a journal-like account of vulnerability through her affecting lyrics and stirring voice. The singer honestly articulates the effects of this friendship breakup in her earnest lyrics, especially lines like, "It breaks my heart this version of us, 'cause it'll never be the same as it was." Guiding listeners with an unabashed directness allows them to make personal parallels and relate to the song's universal thematics individually. Leigh is a frank storyteller, candidly sharing that "tightrope" was written about her fallout with her godbrother in late 2023. She writes with the attachment of real love and loss. Leigh's tenacious commitment to creating a sonically ambient track that delivers introspective lyricism with delicate, indie-pop melodies has paid off in "tightrope." The blend of underscoring violin and acoustic guitar tracks produces a cinematic sound that works as a vehicle for the singer's transcendent vocal tracks. Leigh's honey-like humming and vocal stems in between verses set a reflective listening mood. The song's wispy production highlights both its emotional and audible intricacies. Reverb becomes heavier about halfway into the song, marking a sonic build-up that crescendoes and then falls quiet, leaving space for Leigh's soft, repeated final lyric, "I trusted you, I trusted you." Savanna Leigh is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter living in Nashville, TN, creating personal songs of the indie persuasion that highlight complex emotion. She captures audiences with her confessional lyricism and tender voice. The artist finds solace in creating music that lends itself to helping listeners identify and confront their own feelings, simultaneously defining her sound to be uniquely individual while widely relatable. Over the last year, she has shared the stage with artists like Jonah Marias, Ashley Kutcher, and Edwin Raphael while touring her last project, reminders of you . Her upcoming EP, For Your Entertainment, will debut on September 26, 2025. After which, Leigh will prepare to bring her heartfelt live performances to even more fans both domestically and internationally. • Review: "Car Crash" - Love Ghost

Brand new release by group Love Ghost "Car Crash" is an intense piano ballad that showcases what is left in the aftermath of a love so strong and sudden that once it's gone, you're left with nothing but the memory of a beautiful tragedy. The track is filled with longing for a person whose impact still haunts the story. There's clearly a lot of pain in this memory of the relationship, but "Car Crash" still makes an effort to express that with pain there still exists the compelling nature of this past love. "Car Crash" shows a new side of Love Ghost, the ballad is authentic in its emotional content and presents the versatility of Love Ghost when it comes to the art they create. "Car Crash" doesn't stray too far away from the style of a traditional piano ballad, but there are some modern elements in the production. Keeping the instrumentals simple keeps focus on the main story and allows listeners to really understand how that speaker is feeling a complex array of emotions. The speaker is suffering for what has taken place, emphasizing how even though the relationship was so sudden and unexpected, the regret that remains feels like it will continue to grow. The more you listen the more ambiguous the relationship becomes in your mind, it's hard to understand the nature of where these two people stand in terms of being together or not. This proves the authenticity of "Car Crash" as real relationships aren't always black and white. It also shows the nuance of emotions and how intertwined love and pain can become. "Car Crash" is a display of all the complications that can come with falling in love, but its purpose is not to stray people away from this path, but instead to show how human it is to go through these experiences. Love Ghost has been making quite the name for themselves. Since the project started Love Ghost has received praise from many outlets like Rolling Stone Magazine, Time-Out Mexico, Alternative Press, and more. The group has also performed in four continents now. Mexico is where the Love Ghost thrives, performing many shows there and collaborating with a wide range of artists. It's always great to see a group that's so excited to collaborate with as many artists as they can and to perform to as many of their fans as possible. They've also collabed with other artists from around the world. Love Ghost's style mostly revolves under alternative rock, grunge, pop-punk, and a few others. Love Ghost is clearly a project filled with so much passion and keeps themselves busy, and we can see that things will only go up for them in the future. • Review: "Out of Focus" - Magdalia

"Out of Focus" by Magdalia is for all the neurodivergent folks out there who always knew they were different and struggled their whole lives while everyone around always told them they were fine or going through a phase - just to have been right the whole time and get diagnosed later in life. As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood herself, it's so hard growing up feeling like there's something wrong with you and there's nothing you can do to help it. Then, once you finally get a diagnosis, you're both relieved and angry that you didn't get the help you needed sooner. Co-written with Olivia Regueira-Garcia , Magdalia wrote "Out of Focus" with a double meaning. The first part was finding out that she is a neurodivergent woman with a late diagnosis, and the other part was the confusion she had dealt with while watching her father lose his eyesight while she was growing up. Taking nostalgic synth-pop influences from Ariana Grande , Dua Lipa and Griff , Magdalia wanted to make sure although the song is very emotional and personal, that it still had an uplifting beat, which gives the tone of the song a sense of hope and catharsis. Magdalia is an award-winning singer/songwriter based out of Melbourne, Australia. She began releasing music in 2021 and has become quite the local performer. She's inspired by artists like Florence + The Machine , Sia , Catie Turner and Dido . She's known for her dreamy, ethereal soundscapes and vulnerable storytelling. "Out of Focus" is the leading single for her upcoming debut EP, set to release later this year! Make sure to follow Magdalia below to keep up on the latest of what is yet to come. • EP Review: "RAINBOW CATHARSIS" - Silver Omen

Berlin based electronic pop artist, Silver Omen has released his debut EP, RAINBOW CATHARSIS, which revisits the stages and process of his personal coming out journey. TRACKLIST WELCOME TO THE CLUB BREAKING POINT NO SHAME AT THE PARTY THE FLAME Originally from Argentina, Silver Omen officially made his artist debut last year (2024) with his first ever single, "WELCOME TO THE CLUB", leading up to this very moment - the release of his first EP, RAINBOW CATHARSIS. With inspiration from artists like The Weeknd , Billie Eilish , and Robyn , Silver Omen takes a blend of pop sub-genres to create a diverse listening experience while focusing on topics of sexuality, self-image and acceptance. As an LGBTQ+ artist, Silver Omen felt it was important to open up about his story of sexuality and identity in order to reach his full artistic potential; and so, we receive his honest debut work, "RAINBOW CATHARSIS". Let's dive into these tracks! WELCOME TO THE CLUB We enter the EP with Silver Omen's first ever single and a perfect introduction song, "WELCOME TO THE CLUB", which is about the pain that not only Silver Omen went through when he felt like he had to hide who he was to feel normal and accepted, but the pain he realizes he inflicted on someone else while he was in a 2-year straight relationship, knowing he didn't really have romantic feelings for them. This song has a super catchy beat despite it's emotional story. It literally feels like a club song with layers of pulsating synths, until we reach the emotional, ballad like outro where Silver Omen promises that although they are both hurting, it's a good thing that everything is coming to light so they both can find their happiness in someone else one day. BREAKING POINT Next, we have "BREAKING POINT", which is all about Silver Omen's internal battle with himself. He knows who he is, but he hates it, and he's struggling to come to terms with it even though he knows that he has to in order to be happy and move on with his life. This song sounds like chaos, but in the best way possible. Each section switches to a new tempo and dynamic as Silver Omen fights with himself both internally and while looking in the mirror. The overall style gives off a haunting, pop/rock soundscape mixed with electronic components. My personal favorite part is when he uses the vocal vocoder. NO SHAME "NO SHAME" is about the point in Silver Omen's journey where he started to experiment with his sexuality and feelings, but still would beat himself up over it. He sings of being jealous of the partners he was going on dates with and how comfortable they were with being so open and honest about who they were, while he still struggled to allow himself to be, well, himself. To make things worse, in the beginning he jumped right in and he decided to use physical touch as a mechanism to ignore his emotions, rather than sorting them out slowly. This caused him to have even more confusion. The overall soundscape is more on the experimental side of things, make you as the listener feel those same chaotic and mind-stirring feelings that Silver Omen was going through. AT THE PARTY "AT THE PARTY" is an energetic, celebratory anthem of the moment Silver Omen realized it was time to start loving himself as who he is and shout it from the rooftops. Everybody better take a seat, because he's not holding back anymore. The soundscape of this song is actually to die for. It's dark pop mixed with an ethereal, other worldly vibe. You want to get up and dance, but at the same time you feel like you're about to start ascending into space. The vocal layering and production work are so phenomenal. This song is just on a whole different level. THE FLAME Lastly, we have "THE FLAME", a self-acceptance anthem that embraces everything Silver Omen has been through and how regardless of the scars he has, he's finally able to love himself today. With a nice dancehall beat mixed with the emotional, piano ballad foundation of the song, it gives you a sense of catharsis while also maintaining some energy. In the second verse, Silver Omen embraces his Argentinian roots and sings in Spanish. After a whole EP of struggle and pain, it's beautiful to hear Silver Omen sing good things about himself. "RAINBOW CATHARSIS" is such a personal piece of art that you can tell Silver Omen needed to create and put out in the world in order to feel some peace within himself. However, although it is very personal, it's something that a large piece of this world can also relate to. It's so important for music like this to exist for others to not feel alone. The fact that this music is also only Silver Omen's debut project blows my mind. I really can't wait to hear what else he has in store for us in the future. If you enjoyed "RAINBOW CATHARSIS", make sure to follow Silver Omen below to keep up on his journey! • Review: "Elephant in the Room" - Chloe Tsangaris

Taking on the brutal realities of betrayal in an almost romance, Chloe Tsangaris's song "Elephant in the Room" explores the weight of painful truths left unsaid. The speaker of this song delivers the lyrics as a direct message to the person who wronged her, with statements like "you think I'm an idiot", acknowledging the careless way they have been deceived. This track powerfully calls out a cheater on his cruel ways, with lyrics like "you took her to the place we'd made and told her it was brand new" exploring the dismissal of their relationship as well as the betrayal of yet another woman. This song is a message to listeners, encouraging them to call people out when they do something hurtful and not tolerate their cowardice in dancing around the issue. An energetic, twangy electric guitar riff opens the track, accompanied by dynamic drums. The guitar fades to the background and drums take on a powerful beat as Chloe's emphatic and low vocals work through the verse. Where the singing in the verse is engagingly nasal and borderline accusatory in its tone, the chorus is confident and high with layered singing. Echoes of the lyrics repeat through the second verse, giving the words a storied feeling in their delivery. The bridge is breathy and quick, taking on a self-conscious internal reflection, before regaining its sound of confidence to flourish in the final chorus. Chloe Tsangaris is an Australian alternative pop-rock musician whose songs are fueled by powerful vocals and energetic instrumental style. She uses emotional and personal lyricism in her songwriting style, offering listeners a relatable outlet for their experiences in love and life in general. Her music has been featured on The Route of Rock's Acoustic Rock Route playlist. • Review: "The Pieces That You Left" - Caitty

Singer-songwriter Caitty is back with her new single, “The Pieces That You Left.” “The Pieces That You Left” takes the artist’s signature country-contemporary pop sound and gives it a brand-new spin. The track is an unconventional heartbreak ballad, written from a fictional perspective of the ex who left. “The Pieces That You Left” is pure breakup catharsis. It’s a track where you get to hear the regret of the person who broke your heart as you thrive post-relationship. “The Pieces That You Left” is a reminder that things will get better and that your impact on a person is not so easily forgotten. It is a clever twist on a  story like this, highlighting Caitty’s ingenuity as a songwriter. Paired with lucious production from Yoga Ramadhan and Nic Rollo, Caitty’s latest single is a lyrical powerhouse.   The idea for “The Pieces That You Left” stemmed from wanting to tell a side of the story from an opposing point of view. “I wanted to explore what it might have looked like from the other side,” Caitty states, “Sometimes the person who causes the heartbreak also feels like they’ve been left behind, even when they were the one who walked away.” The track is a wonderful study in nuance. More than anything, Caitty is a storyteller. The lyrics range from bitter and envious to sorrowful and relatable, all while never losing their realism. Caitty’s vocals emote the highs and lows of “The Pieces That You Left” perfectly. No story has just one side, and through her music, Caitty explores them all. Caitty is a pop singer-songwriter from Margaret River. Her music focuses on darker themes, from guilt to heartbreak to loneliness, and makes them sound grand. She only started officially releasing music in 2024 and has already made a big splash. Within a year, Caitty has garnered over 7000 monthly listeners and 100,000 downloads on Spotify alone. Her discography covers a wide range of genres, from dark synth pop to straight country to more laid-back contemporary, yet all have a sound that is undeniably Caitty. Caitty’s career is just getting started, and if “The Pieces That You Left” is any indication, it’s not to be missed. You can listen to “The Pieces That You Left,” along with the rest of her discography, on all major streaming services now.
