Anie Delgado's "1111" blends introspective lyricism with a soft yet powerful sonic atmosphere, encapsulating the feeling of yearning and self-reflection. The song, built around the concept of numerology and the idea of "1111" being a sign of synchronicity, explores themes of emotional alignment and longing for clarity in a relationship. The lyrics, such as "Wished upon a star / And I woke up where you are" illustrate a disconnection between desire and reality. It speaks to the universal experience of waiting for things to fall into place -- whether it's love, purpose, or personal growth. She delivers the lyrics with an emotional depth that feels personal and universally relatable at the same time. The tone is reflective, imbued with a quiet longing, yet it carries an undercurrent of hope and possibility. "1111" makes listeners reflect on their own moments and the quiet, serendipitous moments that guide us along the way. Anie Delgado is a musical artist based in Los Angeles, CA. The track is something we can all relate to, showing those moments when we're barely getting by but are still keeping our heads up. Shedding light on his goals for the song, Hazlett shares, "With this song, I wanted to bring that same heart-on-my-sleeve sentiment, but with a little more gusto. - Review: "Lovers Do" - Ciana Kaye
"Lovers Do" is the newest single from Ciana Kaye. In the Valentine's Day release, she sings about how betraying love is, and how she wants to experience it in the good light its portrayed in, in regards to media and the love shared between people that she sees around her. She has not experienced what considers to be true love yet, and wants to, but does not want to be let down again. Like most people, Kaye wants the typical romance and to be in love with someone, but its hard to find. She finds it difficult to trust potential significant others when past partners have betrayed her trust. The production of "Lovers Do" gives off the vibe of a classic love song from the bubblegum pop/jazz fusion era of the 50s, but with a modern twist. Its like if the movie Enchanted was a song, when Giselle is wandering through her animated foresty kingdom and the pathways of Central Park. The instrumentation is very elegant, with its beautiful guitar chords and background orchestra. Kaye also has an amazing voice; its very distinct and she is able to switch octaves with ease. - Review: "Cycles" - OMAS x Medyk
No matter how far we go, it is hard to escape the cycle that keeps pulling us back. We find that the only way to break free is by going the distance to feel but not see the love we want to leave behind. The memories still walk beside us, but our eyes pursue the new path away from the cycle. Even if that means never seeing them again is the only option, it is a choice we need to make when it is time to let go. The distance may not take away that love completely, but walking away is the journey to what is now the memory of it rather than to the cycles we are ready to escape. OMAS and Medyk guides us out of the cycle as they captivate our attention to their exhilarating, new song. Click here to listen to "Cycles"! Be prepared for this cinematic and electrifying masterpiece as it takes you the distance you did not know you were ready for. The song opens with an emotional, strong melody as Medyk's voice grabs our attention to the realization that walking away is the only option in a hopeless love. The love can still be felt no matter the distance, but the walls shield away the sight of pain that comes from the endless loop of hurt and longing. Her eyes look forward, and the cycle has been broken along with the love left behind. The melody builds up to the thrilling beat drop and powerful theme reflected from the choice to move forward. We are taken back to the gentle, yet passionate and electric melody as Medyk accepts that the cycle was always meant to come to an end. The person she leaves life still goes on whether she's there or not, but so does her own life, and she's ready to stop waiting for their love and let go. She's out of the cycle, and they will never see her again. We continue into a catchy, striking melody towards an epic and electrifying theme that grabs our attention and holds it tightly until the end. - Review: "THE BADDEST" - Téo Amo
Téo Amo’s song “THE BADDEST” is a beautifully complex piece of artistry that delves into complicated themes surrounding relationships. The lyrics tell a vulnerable and widely relatable tale of feeling forsaken and overlooked by someone you love and coping through leveling up personally. However, this does not erase the feelings of desire and longing, as told through the gut-punch of a lyric “You got me acting crazy, but I guess that’s not new / As long as I can come back home to you.” The lyrics perform an impressive balancing act of empowering and vulnerable, which will touch listeners on a deeply emotional level as they confront their personal shadows through the light of Téo Amo’s genius storytelling. The production and instrumentals of this work do well in complementing the nuances presented in the lyrics. The electronic elements within the backtrack give a moody feel and create a unique modal sound that result in an enticing auditory experience. The powerful trumpet melodies and upbeat percussion track have an atmosphere of excitement. This creates a contrasting emotion that blends powerfully to match the lyrics, once again proving the meticulous thought and care that Téo Amo puts into every aspect of his art and creative storytelling. - Review: "I Want It" - Alexa Kate
Photography: @isadanigreen “I Want It” is the newest single by Alexa Kate . It’s tells the story of an intense crush that quickly goes from one to a hundred within a few lyrical stanzas. Kate provides very accurate storytelling in regards to a cliche beginning of a romance, especially with the line “Maybe I could meet your parents / shout your name outside your house”. As the song continues, her crush becomes stronger, and she starts to develop an obsession for this person. It’s who she thinks about all the time, and constantly imagines about being with them. The sheer idea of them not wanting to be with her would be devastating. Kate sings about how she’s changing herself for this person to like her back, something most people do when they have a crush, making this song relatable for many. 80’s synths start off “I Want It”, before they disappear into a more modern beat, but then return in the chorus, while still layered with a 21st-century pop production style. The song is fun and upbeat, especially with the mix of instrumentation popularized during different decades and the unique sound effects. During some points of “I Want It”, Kate talks instead of sings during certain points in the song, and it really fits into the “love letter” vibe the song is going for. Kate is also a fantastic singer; her vocal abilities really help complete the song and make it what it is. The background vocals are also produced really well with the rest of the song. Kate and Rich Tuorto , the producer, did a great job on “I Want It”. Alexa Kate is a music artist based mainly in New York, and Los Angeles and Nashville as well. After writing songs for several years, she began her music career in 2016 with her debut single “Why?”. In 2024, she released her debut EP wishing you well . She has released other amazing music in addition to “Why?”, “I Want It”, and wishing you well , including “i hate the space”, “Twenty-Something”, and “The One”. She has performed live before, including at a show for the release of her song “Delusion”. She is also set to perform at The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood on March 4, 2025. After one week of “I Want It” being released, it received over 10,000 streams. Alexa Kate is an incredible and very talented singer and songwriter! - Review: "Brown Eyes" - John Fellner
"Brown Eyes" by John Fellner is a song for the lovers, starting off with doting words of affection and gratitude. The song delves into self-reflection, understanding the fulfilment that the speaker's relationship brings, with lyrics like "I walked alone, a lonely road" explaining the contrast between how they used to feel and the comfort of their new reality. This romantic track captures the strong emotions that occur when love is salvation, recognizing the positive change the speaker feels within themself. With angelic comparisons and affirmations of need, this beautiful long graces listeners with the warmth of devotion. Soft, slow piano opens this ballad with emotional depth before John's soulful and delicate vocals work sweetly through the verse. His voice raises to a comforting falsetto that embraces a pensive reflection in its sound in the chorus. The piano increases in volume as the singing matches the intensity and passion, showing off John's low range. The way his voice works slowly and deliberately through the lyrics infuses meanings of need and longing into his textured sound. A glowing symphony of processed vocalizing and string instrumentals take over the bridge, washing over you with its soothing melody. Sink into the depth of connection with the expressive and heart-warming sound of this soft pop track. John Fellner is an artist from Ontario whose vocals, instrumentals, and production skills create a fascinating genre-blending sound. - Album Review: "Open Wide" - Inhaler
Photo credits: Apple Music Despite the stigma that comes with being a nepo baby, Inhaler’s third studio album, Open Wide , proves that it’s possible to set yourself apart from a famous parent’s shadow. Vocalist Elijah Hewson might benefit from being the son of U2 ’s frontman, Bono, but this latest installment to Inhaler’s catalog cements them as an indie band to be reckoned with. TRACK LIST: Eddie In The Darkness Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah) Your House A Question Of You Even Though Again Open Wide All I Got Is You Still Young The Charms X-Ray Concrete Little Things Hailing from Dublin, Inhaler are an Irish band formed in 2012, consisting of members Elijah Hewson, Robert Keating, Josh Bartholomew Jenkinson, and Ryan McMahon. They released their debut album, It Won’t Always Be Like This , in 2021, charting at number one on the UK and Irish Albums Charts. Inhaler have since been on the rise, opening for well-known acts like Pearl Jam , Harry Styles , Arctic Monkeys , and Sam Fender . Citing the inspiration behind the band’s sound, Hewson named icons like The Stone Roses , New Order , Joy Division , Depeche Mode , Happy Mondays , Echo & the Bunnymen , Talking Heads , and Oasis as their primary writing influences. Departing from their typical indie/alt-rock sound, Inhaler’s Open Wide sees the band experimenting with a more pop-influenced sound. The opening track, “Eddie In The Darkness,” immediately shows us that new sonic direction, taking the driving rock instrumentals and fusing them with infectious pop melodies. “Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)” follows as the next installment on Open Wide , leaning into a nostalgic 80s pop-rock inspired soundscape. The track is a mid-tempo ballad, touching on topics like feeling lost in life, something that relates to the album’s overall meaning. Two of the singles released prior to the album, “Your House” and “Question Of You,” are absolute gems, channeling the essence of addictive pop-rock and electropop hits of the 70s and 80s. Both tracks are excellent examples of the album’s guitar-driven pop sound with “Your House” having riffs reminiscent of Norman Greenbaum ’s “Spirit in the Sky.” “Your House” and “Question Of You” also show that the band isn’t afraid to experiment, adding in a choir to back up Hewson’s dynamic vocals that bears a likeness to the layered vocals found in 70s pop-rock. Some of the lighter tracks on Open Wide , “Even Though,” “Again,” and “All I Got Is You” give fans a taste of that classic Inhaler sound, channeling the essence of their previous albums, It Won’t Always Be Like This and Cuts & Bruises . All three tracks give a nod to the band’s indie-rock roots while not straying too far from the pop-rock direction they are moving in. Living up to Hewson’s genetic legacy, the frontman and his band channel a sound reminiscent of U2’s power ballads with tracks like “Open Wide,” and “Still Young.” Hewson’s smooth vocals bear a striking resemblance to his father’s on these songs, giving us a taste of what U2 would sound like with a modern indie flare. Giving us some synth-laden electropop vibes, “The Charms” and “Concrete” keep the nostalgia for the 80s going, blending indie-pop melodies with retro-inspired instrumentals. Both tracks incorporate elements of 80s synth-rock and pop, creating a sound that might remind listeners of icons like The Cure . Sounding close to what we usually expect from Inhaler, “X-Ray” and “Little Things” remind fans of the group’s usual indie-rock sound, infusing a hint of indie-pop throughout the songs’ melodies. “Little Things” ends the adventurous album on a high-note, giving listeners a pick-me-up with its high energy and effectively wrapping up Inhaler’s best work yet. Though some are unhappy with the band moving in a more pop-influenced direction, Inhaler’s Open Wide is certainly an album to have on repeat. It’s a refreshing take on the group’s unique sound, keeping their music from getting stale or predictable. If you’ve never heard of Inhaler before, Open Wide is the perfect introduction to a fantastic, talented band! Kerry Kathleen's "Southwest" is the opening track to her latest EP, Bringing down your high , released on February 4, 2025. The eight-song project takes inspiration from artists like Elio, Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift. She uses this imagery of driving as a reflection of her desire to be close to this person that she loves and see where they can go together. For those looking to add a new love song to their playlists, look no further than this one. "Southwest" is an electropop anthem about driving to see the person that you love. - Review: "How Do I Let You Go" - Lexi Faye
Lexi Faye’s latest single “How Do I Let You Go” delves into the vulnerable feelings that can accompany grieving the end of a close relationship. Being close to someone for so long can make their presence something you always look forward to. Even when you’re apart, the bond has been cemented and being separate is too foreign of a concept. In the days after they are no longer with you, you can’t process it. There are many unanswered questions you ask to be made clear, but they never will. All you can think about is turning back the clock to when the days were brighter and you could reach out and touch them. You feel they abandoned you and this loss snuck up without any warning. The time where they were all that mattered to you leaves you longing, wondering how you can one day let them go. Click here to listen to "How Do I Let You Go"! “How Do I Let You Go” is a contemporary and indie pop anthem that intertwines and compliments powerful, upbeat music with a melancholy narrative. Each lyric describes the heartfelt, betrayed feelings of the narrator. The introspective lyrics are expressed through the powerful vocals. The vocals are first sung low and softly as the music gradually builds. As this story is being told, the instrumentation highlights the melody being sung. Faye’s vocal performance shines throughout the chorus and delivers a raw emotion unique to her. The instrumentation suddenly becomes less centric on edm indie elements, and transitions to contemporary elements such as a guitar. These all accumulate to show the more vulnerable, open emotions of the story as if she could no longer hold back. Each aspect of this single tells a changing yet cohesive musical experience of loss and the powerful feelings that accompany it. Lexi Faye is an American singer-songwriter currently based in Colorado. In a relatively short musical career, Lexi has managed to showcase her talent and success in abundance. - Review: "Alibi" - Zosia
It’s safe to say that today’s culture is fairly obsessed with con artists– scammers, cheaters, and all-around robbers, and yet our curiosity for such depravity keeps our attention regardless. Zosia’s newest single “Alibi” plays on this idolization of con artists, and how we romanticize them and their lifestyles. Idolization of not-so-great people isn’t new, but this track will have its listeners thinking on exactly why we do such things, when the result usually leaves us with lighter wallets and/or broken hearts; in the end, we just get hurt, but we always come crawling back for more. “Alibi” is dripping in dark, electro pop, enticingly smooth with a richness to its soundscape that makes it feel decadently addictive to listen to. If I had to describe “Alibi”, I would say it’s akin to a smoky room, hazy and mysterious. Its dark pop soundscape evokes out of its listeners a smoothness that the genre excels in, heightening our senses to every bit of instrumentation in the track. The low synth keeps that vibe going throughout the runtime, holding the tension in its hands; and then when you add Zosia’s gorgeous vocals into it all, you’ve got that slight lightness mixed with the darkness, and it all combines together to create a wonderful mixture of sounds that melds into the shadowy soundscape that is “Alibi”. Considering the lyrics, too, helps in reinforcing this mystifying atmosphere; Zosia sings of "the less you know, the more you’re mine”, reminding us that our ignorance only has us play more into the hands of liars and cheats, those who are out to exploit our lack of knowledge. In the end, as long as they have the "money"– whatever that might represent to you, whether it’s literal or metaphorical– they’ve got their “Alibi” and will get away scot-free. I love that Zosia leaves some room for interpretation for her listeners in the track, and it keeps the dark tone of the song malleable enough to fit whatever you might be imagining as the con artists in your life. Los Angeles based singer-songwriter and producer Zosia captures the essence of dark pop in her powerful vocals and passionate production. Her music journey began at age nine when she wrote bubblegum pop with dreams of becoming the next Britney Spears; time matured her style, and her musical world is now built of her vulnerability and resilience, all tied together with cinematic sounds and self-reflection. Atwood Magazine has described her as having a “shattering sound [that] bursts with so much raw emotion that it cuts to your soul.” Debuting in 2017 with her single “Water”, Zosia has gone on to release a myriad of tracks since then, including a debut EP in 2021 entitled Symptoms of Nature , which includes an in-depth reflection on existence that was borne of a college course on death. “Alibi” was Zosia’s final release of 2024, so be sure to follow her on her socials to keep track of what’s next in store!
