  • Review: "U MAKE ME" - Lola Raie

You know that ex? You know… THAT ex. The one who was crazy, convinced you that you’re the crazy one, and drove you mad? Didn’t they just make you want to- AAAHHH! Lola Raie’s debut single, “U Make Me”, has your back. With this single kickstarting her career, she knows how to get listeners rocking with her! The song is essentially a big F you to that ex in your life that ruined everything, while also reminding listeners that you are not alone! Don’t listen to that person who tells you that you need therapy, you’re dramatic, and that you’re the bad guy. Listen to this song and realize how they make you! The song starts with a gritty guitar, thrusting us into a Paramore-type of vibe. There is a constant kick, rising anticipation with the lyrics. The drums hype up to explore into the chorus, where the vocals get very punk. Speaking of vocals, there is beautiful layering within that creates echo-like call backs and an amazing sound. Along with this theme, the vocalizations throughout create a pop vibe that completes the song. The screams after the chorus aid in the rock-feel, as well, which I personally adore. To kick this to an epic close, the pulsations, high-range lyric ending, and the final radio-like vocal effect puts this pop punk song on my liked playlist. Lola Raie is an actress/singer based out of Los Angeles. She found a love for acting at the age of four, when she did a play at her community theatre. She later found an agent and began her life as a child actress. Since then, Lola has been seen on many forms of the screen including but not limited to “Yes Day”, “Cheaper By The Dozen”, and “Ainbo”. She has recently stepped into her singing career officially with this new single. With her supportive family, there is nothing that Lola Raie cannot do. • Review: "It's Not Me Who's Missing You" - Nina Caroline

In a taste of her upcoming EP, Nina Caroline releases “Its Not Me Who's Missing You”, a single dropped at the end of May. Throughout this track, Caroline details the realization behind the need for a breakup, that she has lost herself in the relationship and is no longer being true to what she stands for. She paints the scene of two young kids driving around, him professing his “demons” and her willing to accept them, thinking they would never come back to hurt her. However, as the plot develops it is clear that she is not even herself anymore, and that the version of herself that misses him is long gone. She is able to separate herself into two versions: the one with him who loved him and (regretfully) misses him, and the one who has moved on and healed, and looks back with a laugh. Nina Caroline’s track has two main plot points: telling the story of their relationship / demise, and explaining how she has grown and no longer misses him. This track’s sound is simplistic and yet extremely well produced. It starts with just Caroline’s soft voice and a light drum beat keeping pace, which grows in anticipation until the chorus. Once it reaches this part of the song, it slows in sound and goes quiet for a moment, and then explodes into a newfound electric guitar riff as well as the original drums. In the chorus, she sings, “What if it's not me who's missing you / But the version of myself I was with you / I swore I would never let you in / But somehow you got under my skin / Oh it's not me who's missing you”. Throughout the track, she laughs at herself for thinking this could work, that even for a minute she had let herself believe that he wouldn't drag her down with him. The bridge and outro bring this idea home, with the bridge being a chaotic layering of her original thoughts as well as current, and the outro being an echo-y and soft repetition of the chorus, highlighting Caroline’s emotive vocals and sadness that this had to end this way. Nina Caroline first picked up the guitar at age 9, and since then has never stopped. Developing an indie-singer-songwriter vibe, she states that her music has “Holly Humberstone's pop appeal and Lizzy McAlpine's folk influences, with warm The Police guitars and summery 70s Fleetwood Mac vibes”. She blends all of these various styles into a melting pot of one amazing sound, with her own soft vocals and descriptive lyrics to tie them all together. Stay tuned for her upcoming EP, and make sure to follow the social medias below to follow along for more music from Nina Caroline. • Review: "The Promise" - Kings Elliot

Kings Elliot's latest single "The Promise" is a vulnerable and artistic masterpiece. At some point, everyone has made a promise. Some may be big with a lot more significance, while some are a bit smaller. Not all promises that are made are kept unbroken, though. Regardless of how "big" or "small" the promise is, it can still cause a lot of emotional strife once broken. Kings Elliot beautifully captures all of this in "The Promise." The song shows the pain that can come with the realization that someone's pretty words and deep promise did not hold true, even if you wanted to believe they would. After so many broken promises, the relationship as a whole breaks, too, and cannot be repaired so easily. Even with the heavy emotions and the painful experiences that shape "The Promise," the song's overall vibe is one that you can absolutely let loose to. The indie-pop song balances emotional depth with a retro, catchy tune that makes it unforgettable. If you want to dance, sing, cry, or scream along to the lyrics, Kings Elliot invites you to do all of that while listening. Kings Elliot says that "The Promise" feels like "euphoric sadness", and there is truly no better way to describe the song than that! It includes an array of gentle plucks of string instruments over an upbeat tempo and a consistent beat that makes the entire song come alive. Kings Elliot's voice is an instrument in itself - one that adds a remarkable, almost otherworldly vibe to the song. Her vocals pack a punch and conveys emotions perfectly. Towards the bridge of the song, her voice feels like a raw, emotional outcry that is mesmerizing and impactful. Swiss-born, singer-songwriter Kings Elliot is set to release her debut album "Born Blue" on September 26th! "The Promise" is her latest single and will be a powerful addition to her upcoming album. The release of "The Promise" follows her recent win at the Swiss Music Awards, where she received the award for "Best Breaking Act." This prestigious award marked a big milestone in her career, and serves as a testament to her undeniable, remarkable talent. Later this year, starting in October, King Elliot will be embarking on her Born Blue tour. It will be a headline European and UK tour, with the singer performing in multiple cities across Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and the UK. Tickets for Kings Elliot's Born Blue tour are currently on sale for everyone anticipating her upcoming releases and performances! • Album Review: "Voyager" - I Am Boleyn

Synth-Pop Queen I Am Boleyn has dropped her long-awaited debut album, "Voyager". Featuring 15 tracks, this project explores a variety of vulnerable human emotions. TRACKLIST Only Space Girl Like Me Taxi Breathless (Corrs Cover) Driving in the Dark Tiny Love Here Before Say Something Interlude Toxic (Britney Spears Cover) Meet Me in the Clouds Another Me (Martin Brothers Remix) Stay Snowdonia Until The Summer Ends I Am Boleyn is based in London, United Kingdom. She grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia where she had been writing songs since she was young. She attended Oxford University where she studied History, but it seems music was her real calling. She debuted as an artist in 2019 with her single "Too Much" and has been unstoppable since. Combining nostalgic synth-wave with modern electro-pop, as well as taking influence from artists like Robyn , Annie , Goldfrapp and MS MR , I Am Boleyn has a style that is both danceable and emotionally relatable. Over the years, she released two EP's, "Paris to Boleyn" (2021) and "Lost Summer" (2022) which led her to performing sold out shows at notable locations such as The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles, Art Basel in Miami, and Urban Deli Rooftop in Stockholm, where she shared the stage with Swedish popstar Dear Sara . In the midst of her success, it was time to put together something bigger - and boy, did she deliver! I Am Boleyn's debut album, "Voyager", follows a space theme while at the same time explores emotions that are all too human. Recorded over the years between London and Stockholm, I Am Boleyn collaborated with producers and writers like Johannes Willinder , Par Westerlund ( BLACKPINK , One Direction ), and more. I don't want to spoil too much, so let's get into these tracks one by one! "At its core, Voyager is the story of the Space Queen’s journey to Earth—an odyssey of love, despair, and self-discovery." - I Am Boleyn Only Space We blast off with the incredible opener track, "Only Space", which introduces us to the spaceship that we will be traveling on for this intergalactic journey that is "Voyager". The soundscape is super upbeat and ethereal, literally making you feel like you're on a spaceship ride in the middle of the universe as I Am Boleyn describes the surroundings. Intertwined in the production, you can hear buttons, lasers and alarms underneath I Am Boleyn's stunning singing. The combination of the instrumentation, vocals and storytelling gives you a sense of catharsis, especially during the lyrics in the chorus when she sings, "follow my lead and you can start again / the future is close and I can take you there". You get this feeling of new beginnings, a chance to start over and be yourself. It's such a joyful moment. Girl Like Me Next, we have "Girl Like Me", a song about a Romeo and Juliet type of love affair between an alien Queen and a human. If you've ever been in that kind of relationship where all odds are betting against you, it's definitely not easy. However, sometimes all you need to do is remember that as long as you're together and you love each other, nothing can break that! "Girl Like Me" has an infectious, heavy hip-hop influenced beat and sparkling, shimmering synths. Perhaps my favorite element of this particular song though, is the gorgeous layers of vocal harmonies. There's definitely a nostalgic vibe here, and not to mention that it was also inspired by classic sci-fi movies like TRON, Star Trek and Blade Runner . Taxi Now we are onto the leading single and focus track of the album, "Taxi", which is about being drunk in the back of a cab with an ex on your mind, knowing damn well you should leave it alone, but you decide to head towards their place anyways. Alcohol doesn't always lead to the best of ideas, and that includes bringing up old feelings and memories. It doesn't help when there's no one around to stop you or to tell you that you're making a mistake. I Am Boleyn sings that she even knows deep down that if she shows up she knows he will just break her heart, but there's something telling her to go anyways. She sings so softly on this track, almost like she's singing a lullaby. There's a stomp and clap electronic beat paired with ethereal synths, which slowly build as the song and story goes on, aka as the taxi gets closer to her ex's house. Breathless (Corrs Cover) Switching it up a bit, we have a cover of "Breathless" by the Irish family band, The Corrs . This song is about having feelings for someone that you are playfully enticing to make the next move. Comparing to the original, I Am Boleyn brings a more futuristic and clear quality to her version of the song, while still keeping is super nostalgic with a heavy emphasis on synths as the main instrumentation. Because of the way she executes the song, I feel like it makes it sound even more upbeat and joyful. Driving in the Dark "Driving in the Dark" is about releasing yourself from a relationship that isn't working, and relieving yourself from the heartbreak by escaping your town and driving with the windows down in the middle of the night. Sometimes in order to get out all of your frustration and sadness, the best thing to do is drive around for a while, blast your favorite music, sing your lungs out, let the cold air of the night hit your face and don't look back. This song gives a major ode to a classic 80's pop/rock sound with rushing drums and layers of synths taking over. I Am Boleyn has more of a natural, raw tone to her voice, adding to the classic aesthetic and atmosphere. Tiny Love Have you ever caught yourself falling in love, but really didn't want to? It just wasn't in your plans to be in a relationship, and after past experiences, you just want to protect your heart from being hurt again. That's what "Tiny Love" is about - trying to convince yourself that what your feeling is no big deal, and you're not going to let them take over you; it's just a "tiny little thing called love" . This song puts crashing drums at the forefront of the instrumentation, adding a super cinematic feel to the atmosphere. I Am Boleyn sings delicately, with vocal harmonies and synths to back her up. Here Before "Here Before", (co-written with Charlie Thomas ), is about that kind of relationship that goes in circles until it just doesn't anymore... however, you still find yourself longing for them, regardless of how bad it was for you. I Am Boleyn sings, " I've been here before / another night you're sorry at my door. I've been here before / and every time you leave me wanting more" . The soundscape mixes dream-pop with a nostalgic 80's groove. Heavy reverb fills the air, with bubblegum synths and a soft electric guitar. I Am Boleyn sings with heartfelt emotion and pain behind her tone as the song continues to build into this dramatic, cinematic experience the longer it plays on. Say Something "Say Something" is about begging someone to spit out how they're really feeling. You can read it in their eyes that they don't really love you, but you need to hear it from their mouth. No matter how hard you try to get them to talk, they refuse to say the truth. "Say Something" really has that crying in the club type of vibe where the music is super bright and danceable, but there's hurt and heartbreak in the vocals and lyrics. I Am Boleyn sings in a very direct and conversational tone, really emphasizing that she wants this person to listen to her and wants her point to get across, even repeating the words "I need you..." as to imply that she still has feelings for them despite everything. Interlude Just a bit over halfway through, we have a one minute long instrumental interlude. It takes us back to track one, reminding us of our spaceship journey that we are on with electronic components in the background. An instrumental melody starts to play and it has a bit of an animalistic nature to it. The mixture of sounds creates another cinematic atmosphere, preparing you for the next step in our voyage. Toxic (Britney Spears Cover) Next, we have a cover of a pop classic, "Toxic", by Britney Spears . This song is about being addicted to someone like a drug; they're not good for you but being with them gives you a sense of euphoria you've never felt before. When you listen to the original song and I Am Boleyn's cover back-to-back, you wouldn't even know they're the same song. She takes it and makes it completely her own, but in a very good way. Think "Toxic", but a intergalactic, dark synth-pop club remix with more sensual vocals. It fits right in with the vibe and theme of the album. Meet Me in the Clouds "Meet Me in the Clouds" is about being fed up with letting day-to-day life get in the way of following your dreams. There comes a time where you have to realize that all you have is now; so you better make a break for it while you still have the chance. This song is very atmospheric, focusing heavily on electronic instruments and production to create a super unique and ethereal experience. I Am Boleyn uses a vocoder on her voice to add to the mechanical nature of the song during her spoken pre-chorus. There's heavy reverb and delay to add a dreamy, hazy element as well. Another Me (Martin Brothers Remix) Now, we are onto a revival of I Am Boleyn's 2020 single, "Another Me", remixed by Martin Brothers . "Another Me" is about the fear of getting too close to someone; you usually leave before things start to get too serious. However, now you're in a situation where you've met somebody who makes you want to stay, and you don't want to break their heart. You're hoping you can snap out of your habit of distrust, and let yourself be loved. The "Another Me" (Remix) takes an already beautiful track, and elevates it by adding a fuller production to not only match the thematics of this album, but to showcase the artistic growth that I Am Boleyn has had over the years. Stay "Stay", which features synthwave trio The Lightning Kids , is about the pain and loneliness that comes along with being in a long-distance relationship. Those last words that always come out of their mouth before you leave echo in your head until you can physically see them again; "I want you to stay with me" . What stood out to me in this song was it's heavy bassline and the gorgeous, bright and twinkling xylophone which I felt really added to the emotional depth. The slower tempo paired with the heavy collection of synths also added to the unique experience, as well as gave it a little The Lightning Kids flavor. Snowdonia "Snowdonia" is a region of Northwest Wales, in which this song is dedicated to. We can guess by the lyrics that this place is very near and dear to I Am Boleyn's heart to the point she considers it a home to her. It's very clear that it's a safeplace, and when she's feeling low, all she has to do is close her eyes and imagine herself back in Snowdonia. With gorgeous celtic-like chanting in the background, this song is another cinematic experience for the books. It feels like it belong in the end credits of a movie. When I close my eyes, I can visualize the snow capped mountains and lakes. Until The Summer Ends Last but certainly not least, we have the sweet and electrifying "Until The Summer Ends". This song is about that classic Summer fling and being worried that it's going to end because Summer is almost over. So, you take in every moment that you can while it lasts, because there's nothing left to lose. This song is addictively catchy with syncopated melodies and dissonant harmonies. I Am Boleyn's voice sounds like actual sugar blending so well with the nostalgic soundscape. "Until The Summer Ends" is not only the perfect song to close out an album like this, but I can totally see it being a closer for one heck of a concert as well. This album is incredible, to say the least. Each track is an experience in itself, but to listen to everything as whole makes you realize just how thought out and detailed this project really is. Everything glides and flows together so well; I could honestly imagine it being a visual album. The style truly brings that nostalgic 80's sound we all know and love, and gives it just the right amount of modern twist to make it brand new and unique. Not to mention I Am Boleyn's intriguing, sweet vocal style that draws you in not only with her tone but with her relatable storytelling as well. I think it was long worth the wait for an album by I Am Boleyn, and I'm so excited to follow her journey as she continues to take over the synth-pop world. • Review: "I Don't Wish You The Best" - Teghan Devon

In a new single released last week, Teghan Devon details the journey behind moving on from a past relationship that ran its course. “I Don’t Wish You The Best” is a “breakup anthem from the point of view of someone reflecting on memories from a past relationship”. Devon takes listeners along as she recounts specific moments, painting scenes of a love doomed from the start. Her details and anecdotes allow us to see the relationship ourselves, as she talks about times she shared her heart with her ex, and repeatedly was shut down due to immaturity and fear. An indie-pop ballad, Devon’s emotional voice is whimsical and breathy, yet strongly delivers punch after punch. A huge strong suit of Devon’s is her ability to craft storytelling lyrics and including intricate details that make the listeners feel as if they are in her very memories. In this track, she recounts events like walking around Chinatown, the very baseball cap he used to wear being cut to shreds by her once they ended, and a scene where she took a leap of faith and he declined. In the first verse, she sings, “I took a risk / You took half of an edible / We were both a mess / Lying on your mattress on the floor / I tried to talk about us / You couldn’t focus and apologized”. The track is simplistic and calm, and moves into the chorus as she decides that she is over putting her energy into hating him. She is moving on from being negative toward him, however that certianly does not mean that she needs to be positive. She sings, “Oh I’m too tired to be mad / But that doesn’t mean / I have to wish you the best”. Teghan Devon is a singer-songwriter based in Myersville, Maryland. Referencing a video of her small enough to fit in a booster seat singing “The Ballad of John and Yoko”, it is clear that music has always been an important part of her life. She has been writing and performing her own songs since she was only 10 years old, and since has amassed a trail of accolades to prove her talent. She calls her work “indie-folk emotional wrecking ball songs”, and draws inspiration from anything from her own experiences to fictional characters, to her own imagination. She attended the Interlochen Arts Academy, then graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2021, then finally graduated from Lillehammer Institute of Music Production and Industries (LIMPI) in 2023. • Review: "Drunk in Idaho" - Poolguard

Poolguard’s “Drunk in Idaho” is a cinematic listen that details the push and pull of growth in your twenties. It starts with Mckala Cass’s realization that she’s in too deep, unable to “ reply ” or “ go back in time ,” reveling in truthful advice provided by her friends. She sings “ what do I know, what do I really know ” which is a sort of existential thinking that fuels self-reflection. This is representative of the awkward, thrilling, and devastating milestones in ages 20-29. After sifting through racing, compulsory thoughts, the vocalist wonders if she’s to blame, singing “ wanna make change ” and “ got me tipping on my toes ”, while reminiscing on the events that shaped her life. Poolguard closes the song with an answer for anyone investigating the title: “ you don’t have to explain nothing/ now that I’ve forgotten/ Why I have been running/ Now I’m drunk in Idaho ”. This fulfills listener inquiry and makes sense of the rest of the song with an adventurous, main character conclusion laced with the familiarity of a malicious version of nostalgia. There’s no escape in this song, only change. The track begins with mellow, upbeat strings that introduce Mckala’s indie-style vocals. Poolguard creates a summer savvy sound that encapsulates the spirit of a young June. This song is a groovy, indie-pop take on outgrowing age supported by a standout electric guitar and snazzy bass line. It has the signature indie music muffle that makes it sound like listening to a retro radio. Occasional static adds dimension to the soundscape, cut by a lively chorus that distracts from the struggle in the lyrics. The range of instruments in Poolguard’s “Drunk in Idaho” contributes to a complex collectivity that hints at expert production. Gradually closing with elongated vocals, then abruptly restating the title of the track, brings this song full-circle with a cliffhanger ending that requires another listen.  Poolguard is a US music project based in Atlanta, GA made up of members from “ Jack and the Other ”, along with Mckala Cass .  The musicians directing this track met on Vampr, and recorded new release “Drunk in Idaho” at a home studio. The artist notes inspiration from Dayglow and Foster the People , working towards a positive sound that “ fits people’s vibe ” no matter the mood. "Drunk in Idaho" is based on a true story, making the song more authentic. Poolguard's sound is distinct, bubbly, and projects chilly rays of light to simultaneously entrance, uplift, and stun their listeners. “Drunk in Idaho” is Poolguard’s first single, and first release. • Review: "Planets" - Hutton

The inspiration behind Hutton's single, "Planets" comes from the idea that a separate planet comes to exist where you live separately once you've moved on from your past relationship. An ode to staples of the country genre, Hutton describes the song as an homage to Shania Twain and The Chicks. Opening the song, Hutton's voice comes out of the gate powerfully, "I saw Megan in your chair...And I saw Lucy everywhere, even after we were said and done." Referencing girls who might be newly involved with her ex-boyfriend Hutton sings to him, "But I choose not to concern myself. .." "you just keep texting my friends. I wish you'd just leave me the fuck alone." Hutton's subtle twang and stylistic vocal runs emanate subtle country inspiration aforementioned by the singer. She spells out a clear summary of the split from her past when she sings, "...please let's not pretend that we don't exist, on two different planets." Hutton wastes no time making an entrance vocally as soon as the song begins. Singing simultaneously against a strong guitar backing emphasizes the power of both her lyricism and her voice. The track adds vocal stacks to harmonize before building up to a percussive and vocal-heavy chorus. The post-break-up tune is vulnerable yet fun, emotionally dense, and bold. Taking charge of her account through raw and cathartic lyricism, the singer establishes her articulate songwriting. Hutton's high-energy sound and dynamic vocal recordings make this song a danceable, cryable, screamable track. Hutton grew up in Telluride, Colorado, writing music from a young age to express herself and communicate in the way she knew best. After turning 18, Hutton relocated to Los Angeles on her own to hone her craft of singing and songwriting. She draws lyric inspiration primarily from artists of the late 90s/early 2000s such as the Indigo Girls and Sheryll Crow, among others, while deriving sonic influences from current artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Phoebe Bridgers, and Chappell Roan. Serving as a diary-like account of her life, the spark of Hutton's music lies in its authenticity. "Planets" is only the latest single release of Hutton's naturally relatable and fun musicianship. • Review: "Fork!!" - sorrycarlee

Artist Sorrycarlee takes unfortunately common, powerful stressors in life and speaks honestly on their effects – detailing the struggles of how to take your own best advice and learn to give yourself grace, yet in the world of a fun indie pop record – titled “Fork!!” This pop anthem is about perfectionists who struggle to take the advice that they give to others, leading to a strong period of confusion and self-reflection. Sorrycarlee writes in a detailed, precise way, showing listeners that this topic is both human and important. While “Fork!!” is upbeat and leaves you tapping your foot along upon the first listen, it is equally honest and thorough in quality & material. You can tell that this is a personal, raw song from Sorrycarlee as well as a gripping piece of pop music. Sounding both fresh & current in perspective and sound, “Fork!!” perfectly explains some of the highs & lows within figuring out how to navigate life as a young adult. This song offers a learning experience as much as it does an exciting, fun one – rare to find and an ideal message to overall share with others. Through “Fork!!”, Sorrycarlee provides listeners music with experiences and messages that are appropriate, relevant, and honest. No matter your age, her experience of feeling safe in a world of intelligence, dedication, and set guidelines – then transitioning to following her gut and taking a risk on something different – will hit home. Her experience discussed in the lyrics of “Fork!!” feels entirely personal, yet it is something everyone can relate to in one way or another. Upon hearing “Fork!!” for the first time, I was certainly glad that Sorrycarlee chose to follow her dreams and take a chance. This track reminds me of artists such as Lizzy McAlpine and Norah Jones, specifically because they all take elements of beautiful indie pop and blend them with honest, intricate storytelling. While “Fork!!” may reflect on a period of struggle, the overall sound and message behind the song leads to strong, warm feelings that leave you wanting more. I found myself repeatedly listening to the song, finding more of myself in it every time it played. Sorrycarlee is a fresh, honest pop artist using music as a way to connect with others and share moments from her personal life. Previous to releasing music, Sorrycarlee studied both English and Psychology at a prestigious university. • EP Review: "FINE!" - colby!

Breakout alt. pop artist, colby! has released her sophomore EP, "FINE!", an emotionally and aesthetically colorful project with unfiltered songwriting and a self assured attitude . TRACKLIST Fine Out of Sight To Each Their Own Monster (feat. Shaya Zamora) For The Record You colby! grew up in Fort Worth, Texas where she always had a creative itch, starting with painting and building furniture for her dolls. Crafting and creating was a way for her to cope with her severe dyslexia which she was diagnosed with at the age of 8. Through her creative nature, she found out she had a talent for songwriting and singing, which also really helped her through her intense dyslexia therapy. At the age of 14 is when she really started to take making music seriously, and began collaborating with her older brother, RJ Johnson , a Berklee College of Music alumni who is also a producer and multi-instrumentalist. After a handful of years, colby! finally debuted her first single last year (2024) titled "Don't Know What To Say", as well as her first EP, "Dead Giveaway". This year, she managed to reach over one million streams on Spotify alone with her collaborative single "Monster" which features Shaya Zamora , really making a huge surge in her fanbase. Now, she's already ready to release her second EP, "FINE!", which is inspired by the retro aesthetic and colorful palate of Olivia Newton-John’s musical, Xanadu . colby! describes this EP as having an unpredictable, one-of-a-kind sound. I can't wait to hear what she has in store; let's dive in! Fine Starting with the title track, we have the hauntingly catchy alt. pop bop, "Fine". This song is about confronting someone who is refusing to open up about how they really feel. You can tell that they are not okay, but they continue to lie and smile through their tears anyway. All you want is for them to let you in, but no matter how many times you let them know that they don't have to be alone, they won't give in. "Fine" has a super dark tone and mood with an eerie synth and hard electric guitar, giving the song a little edge. colby! sings with frustration and heavy emotion. "Fine" perfectly sets the unique twist to alt. pop that colby! has in store for the rest of her project. Out of Sight Next, we have "Out of Sight", a super addictive song about not being able to get a past love out of your head. You find yourself seeing things everywhere that remind you of them; from guys who wear the same type of clothes and have the same hairstyle, to the car he drives parked on the street outside your workplace. It's almost enough to drive someone insane. How are you supposed to get over someone when the ghost of them is following you everywhere you go? "Out of Sight" has a super heavy and catchy beat that feels dancehall influenced. It's almost impossible not to move and groove to. The bright, sparkling acoustic guitar pairs greatly with the rhythm and beat while colby! sings an ear-worm chorus that'll most definitely get stuck in your head. To Each Their Own "To Each Their Own" is a really deep, symbolic song with poetic lyricism about struggling with identity and feeling stuck in life. There's themes of wanting to escape to other sceneries and experiment different lifestyles out of pure exhaustion from the unending stress of life and having to put on a happy face. It's extra tiring when you have to pretend to be someone you're not just to make it in this society, leading to a complete identity crisis at the end of the day. colby!'s vocals and the lyrics are really emphasized in this song. She sings with energy and dramatization, making sure she gets her point across. The style of the song itself was giving me nostalgic RnB vibes with a modern alt. pop twist that is uniquely colby!. Monster (feat. Shaya Zamora) Next, we have colby!'s super breakout single and collaboration track, "Monster", which features fellow indie artist, Shaya Zamor a . "Monster" is about two people in a relationship who are super toxic for each other and they know it; yet, they refuse to let each other go. They put in no effort to make their relationship positive or healthy; they just go in circles, slowly driving each other insane. Will it ever end? "Monster" obviously has the spooky vibes that you expect a title like that to have, and it delivers it perfectly. colby! and Shaya's voices blend so well over the dark and danceable beat, almost like it was a collaboration that was destined to be. "One day, I got a text from Shaya Zamora with a little audio file and a message that just said, 'Hey, what do you think about this song idea?' It was just a verse and chorus idea, but I loved it right away. I took it to my brother and producer, RJ, and from there, we started messing around with it—sending it back and forth with Shaya. The whole process actually came together pretty quickly. The song was a bit different from what I had written before, both lyrically and sonically, so it was really fun to explore and bring it to life. And I’m so glad Shaya featured on it—I think what we ended up with is really special. Monster is about two people stuck in a toxic relationship. They don’t bring out the best in each other, and they know it, but for some reason, they can’t let go—or even try to become better for one another." -colby! Read our full review of "Monster" here! For The Record "For The Record" is the newest, unheard track on the EP about reflecting on the aftermath of a bad breakup. The dust has settled, but the painful words that were said are still lingering, and you won't let them be forgotten. You want to put it all on record with permanent receipts of the damage they've done. There's a part of you that wishes you could say it to their face and let them really have it. "For The Record" is super upbeat despite it's melancholic emotion. It has vibrating synths and down-strummed guitar, giving it a little bit of an 80's ode. You Last but not least, we have "You". This song is about being in that type of relationship that changes you into someone different, and not in the good way. Your partner starts to shape you into another version of themselves, and if you try to express your true feelings about anything, they snap at you - so you keep quiet. You start to become distant from your loved ones, and they even start to notice that you're not the same. You become trapped in this cycle of control, and now you don't know how to get yourself back. "You" has a soft, emotional soundscape with an acoustic tone that gently builds throughout the duration of the song. colby! sings her heart out as she tells this tragic story that unfortunately many can relate to. There isn't a single track on this EP that sounds the same, but yet at the same time, it's all cohesively colby!. Each story grasps you from every which way; from the lyrics, to the soundscape, to colby!'s unique and stunning voice. When you listen to colby!, you immediately think she has to be a famous popstar with a sound and talent like this. The underrated nature of her music is baffling for sure, but I have this feeling that soon, everyone is going to know who colby! is. Her music is catchy, relatable, and something that hasn't been heard before. I can't wait to hear what she does next! Make sure to follow colby! below to keep up on her incredible journey. • Review: "DON'T CALL IT" - Cerys Georgina

Cerys Georgina released her latest single “DON’T CALL IT” on May 23, 2025. This song is about the need to change who you are for those around you even when you aren’t sure if you should do it. While fitting in is something we all do, there comes a point where you have to remind yourself that changing who you are for other people’s needs is not always the best answer. You can change a million things about yourself, and it still won’t be enough for others. Not being yourself at all times of the day will cause you to think about what you are doing and wonder how you can keep changing. Over time this leads you to regret not being yourself because if they can’t love the true version of you then they don’t have a place in your life.   “DON’T CALL IT” immediately begins with the artist's warm and powerful voice. When I first heard the song, the mood felt so upbeat and happy. The sounds throughout also backed up the tone and mood of the entire track. I really liked how there were very few instrumentals in this track, but the beats were bouncy and steady. Especially for how relatable this song was, It was full of so much energy at the beginning and as it went on the beats got slower and a little more mellow. The soft piano towards the end was my absolute favorite and the perfect way to end a song.   Cerys Georgina is a singer/songwriter from London, England. She started releasing music in 2022 with her first single titled “Nobody’s Birthday.” Since then, she has released several other tracks that are filled with so much emotion and tell a beautiful story. Her music falls under that of the alternative pop and indie genre. If you haven’t already listened to her latest single, I definitely recommend doing so.
