  • Review: "This Feeling" - Paperwhite

The smallest things can turn a day around—a dandelion drifting in the summer breeze, sunlight warming your skin through a window—and Paperwhite’s “ This Feeling ”  delivers that same breath of fresh air. In today’s world of constant hustle, where many of us rush through life on five hours of sleep and at least two cups of coffee, it’s easy to feel like we’re falling behind. Katie sings, “It breaks my heart knowing there’s so much good, but it’s hard to find.” Deadlines, grades, or “failed” ideas narrow our vision, blinding us to life’s simple joys—the songbird on a branch, the stray soccer ball we didn’t pause to kick, the coffee shop we’ve never stopped to try. “ This Feeling ”  serves as a much-needed reminder that when we slow down, we can rediscover happiness. Nature teaches us that while progress matters, it’s okay to be still—flowers that bloom too early often wither. The song flows with the same kindness, reclaiming the childlike wonder found in the present. For anyone overdue for a pause, Paperwhite reminds us that the light will reach us. You’ll get this feeling. The track is slow but carries a sense of renewal — something good coming. The beat is bouncy, like bumblebees traveling from flower to flower. The drop is subtle but colorful, like petals falling from a tree, swirling in the breeze, sprinkling over a lake. Ben Marshall’s production creates a spring-like harmony. Every instrument seems to echo an essence that could make you float. Katie Marshall’s vocals are soft, like silky streams or tulip petals at the local market. The pacing from the verses to the slow chorus replicates what the song is all about. The repeated refrain, “ I get this feeling ,”  ties the lyrics to the present and reminds us that we’ll return to the good times. No matter where we are, renewal is always possible. “ This Feeling ”  serves as a reminder that better days are ahead. True to their mission of providing a breath of fresh air between traffic and constant movement, Paperwhite is based in Brooklyn, New York. The sibling duo combines Katie Marshall’s singing and Ben Marshall’s music production as they write songs together. From a family of scientists and engineers, they received support to pursue a career in a creative field. The Paperwhite siblings studied and graduated from Berklee College of Music, preparing them for a series of projects, including their EPs, singles, and writing for television. They released their debut EP, Magic , in 2014. Their second EP, Escape , was a success, reaching reactions from Billboard, Buzzfeed, and Noisy. “By Your Side,” a recent release, brings the same easy-going vibe of “This Feeling.” There are now Savoir Adore and Adam Weiss’s remixes. “ This Feeling ”  is another sparkle in their body of work. • Review: "PINUP" - Gabriella Zauna

Blog readers, let’s be honest. We’ve all been at our lowest moments. Feeling down on ourselves, hating… WAKE UP! That is what Gabriella Zauna’s new bop “PINUP” tells us as we go through these struggles. Throughout the song, Gabriella tells of her personal struggles and fights, scooping her heart off of the floors and reminding herself to stand strong! While we all go through the dark and rough, and I’ve been there, Gabriella reminds us to stand straight, be grateful, humble ourselves, and BE THAT BADDIE. This alternative dark pop ear candy has more than just a thumping beat, but a message that tells listeners to “Wake up/Do your makeup like a pinup/Get it straight”. The arpeggiated ring with the gaps creates suspense into the opening, with the techno feel thrusting listeners forward. If Tate McRae and Charli XCX had a baby, this would be her. The structure of pulsations and completion on beat is gorgeous! While keeping the lyrics conversational, especially with the background vocals, it aids in the lyrical runs Gabriella slays. I also want to highlight the drums, which are the pulsating drive of the song. There is a live feel, very front heavy that give weight to the song in wonderful ways. A perfect song for the girlies with the subwoofer in the trunk. Gabriella Zauna is a singer/songwriter born, raised, and based out of Los Angeles, California. During a young age, music had been a significant part of her life, along side tennis. After a hefty decision of picking one over the other, she decided to pursue music which she grew within by writing at a young age, playing guitar and piano at 7-years-old, producing compositions at 12-years-old and eventually singing. Gabriella became a one-woman-band, possessing a skill that would aid her in her success, and bring forth her creativity and authenticity: Synesthesia, where each song becomes more than just sound with visuals containing tapestries of rich colors, textures, and shapes. With her mom by her side, supporting her dreams, Gabriella has risen to stardom with her hits. She has over ten thousand listers on Spotify, and has even more followers on her social media. • Review: "Gut Punch" - Hayley Orrantia

There isn’t anything out there like being in love. It’s great when it’s all working out in your favour, but what happens when you’re in love with somebody who isn’t with you? In Hayley Orrantia’s latest single “Gut Punch”, we’re treated to a hyperpop electronica track that highlights the feeling of realizing the person of your affections isn’t going to return them. This will be a fantastic song for those of you out there who love the sad-girl vibe, dancing the night away with tears in your eyes while you enjoy the amazing production behind a song that you can relate to. “Gut Punch” is filled with beautiful lyricism that will really bring you to the moment the narrator is struck with the knowledge that this love isn’t going anywhere. Jealousy and despair flirt with energetic beats in this addictive pop track. I already knew I was going to love “Gut Punch” just by the title. It’s just such a visceral description for a feeling, and I love how evocative all the language in the track is. The narrator describes realizing that she isn’t the one her object of affections wants– “feels like a gut punch, I did it to myself”, Hayley sings, noting that this is on the narrator. Things like this always seem to hurt more when you know that it was your fault things ended up this way, hence that “gut punch” feeling. It’s hard, it’s violent, and it’s immediate. There’s many more lines in the track that evoke that same feeling, such as “shock to the system” and “fell hard, landed under your spell”. These are all things that can describe being in love, but also shock. I just love the duality of the lyrics, and then when you add that amazing electronica soundscape to the mix, you get this amazing blend of intricate lyricism and dance-pop. "Gut Punch" is definitely one of those songs that keeps you on your toes, always knowing that the next verse, chorus, or bridge is going to have you singing louder than the last. Known for her role as “Erica Goldberg” in the ABC hit comedy The Goldbergs , Hayley Orrantia is a multifaceted artist who is no stranger to the world of music. Debuting in 2015 with her single “Love Sick”, she has since released many tracks to great success. Her debut EP The Way Out  has notably charted in both the US and UK, as well as being featured on Spotify and Apple Music playlists. • Review: "guarded" - Izzy Potter

Izzy Potter has perfectly crafted a song that describes how it feels to fall for someone who isn't good for you. At the end of the day, you are aware that the other person can't give you what you want. However, you continue to go after them because you want to stay within the delusion that they might be good for you down the road. We can gain this understanding through the powerful lyrics given to us by Izzy. One of my favorite lines at the beginning of the song says, "Cursed myself for not wearing a jacket / Cursed you for never even offering / Answered the door / Hair is still dripping / Found the straps of my tank top slipping / Cursed myself after for feeling alone / Cursed you for not even walking me home." I can visualize the internal battle that the artist is going through in this moment and I can relate to the feelings being portrayed because I've personally felt the same way. We gain better understanding from the chorus when it says, "It's my fault isn't it / You're not the story I made up in my mind / Yeah it's my fault / I do it every time / I pretend it to be different / I'll try to play it innocent / I'll do what you wanted / Let down my walls, but you stay guarded." This further shows us the lack of positive change on the other persons part, making it hard for the person who's actively changing to continue putting effort into the relationship. The overall tone of the song is rather somber and dark. Not dark in a bad way but rather introspective, seeking deeper reflection in one's self as to why you're allowing yourself to be treated this way. This bleeds into the downcast, sullen mood which allows us to have a mindset focused on reflection. We're reflecting on past treatment and future treatment. The instrumentation helps build these different emotions. We get hints of guitar and drums that add a slow burn affect to the track, which helps keep the laid back pace. Once the vocals trickle in the whole song comes full circle. As the listener we are allowed to put all the pieces together, creating the powerful finished project. We know that each part plays a significant role in communicating the overall point of the song. Izzy Potter is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee with roots in New York. Her songs bring a new level of creativity to the music realm with her intriguing acoustic pop/folk style. Her storytelling is often times compared to that of Taylor Swift, Maggie Rogers, Lizzy McAlpine, and Noah Kahan. Izzy Potter has been writing her own songs since the age of 12 and has been recognized by NSAI songwriting evaluators as "One to Watch." She is currently studying songwriting at Belmont University. She is excited to continue exploring her love for music and performing. If you're looking to catch her, she can be found playing anywhere around town such as Bowery Ballroom NYC, supporting the Long-Island indie-rock band Arcy Drive, or playing shows all around Nashville. Don't forget to listen to "guarded" and show Izzy some love! Written By Destiny Rundquist FOLLOW Izzy Potter: Instagram | Spotify

  • Review: "in my mind" - Rachel Ruzumna

Late night thoughts haunting you? Get out of your head by listening to Rachel Ruzumna’s newest single “in my mind”! This heartbreaking yet relatable song reminds listeners of the struggle of when the anxiety and stress overtakes us. The rawness of the vocals mixed with the storytelling creates such an intimate space for listeners. Everyone, especially myself, have all gone through the ringer with our own minds. Especially during the late night when you all you have is yourself in your thoughts. So if you’re alone with those thoughts and you’re looking for a song to get you out of that headspace, listen to this one for sure! Right off the bat we get a country-like instrumental with the guitar and the heavy vocals. The bass strums constantly, adding space and depth. The flanger effect gives it the perfect distortion to give it the late night vibes. Opening up the chorus is light hi-hat drums that make the reverb perfectly crunchy. There is a perfect relationship between the vocals and the drums that create this mighty presence. The repetitve instrumental entagled with the lyrics create such a gorgeous space for late night thoughts to wander in postive directions. The ending lyrics really tie it all together: “i just had to get out, didn’t look at the time/but it’s all in my mind/it’s all in my mind/it's all in my mind.” Reminding all of us that while these thoughts can take over us, it’s all in our minds. Rachel Ruzumna is a singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, originating from northern Chicago. • Review: "Obsessed" - Jemma Johnson

Let’s not front… we’ve all been a little… OBSESSED. With this new single off her new EP Dark Side , Jemma Johnson’s hit “Obsessed” will have you feeling that title. If you’re a 90s baby, or a 00’s baby who LOVES the 90s pop/alternative pop scene, this song is definitely for you! The song spills the tea of those overbearing, passionate feelings that are inescapable. It lights a fire within you, reminding listeners of the dangers and fun that come along with such aggressive affection. While this can sound scary, Jemma turns it into a fun, poppy adventure that listeners can strut confidently with. If you’re reading this and thinking of Joe Goldberg from YOU, then you’re in the right mindset! Starting with a sultry piano, we are instantly getting that 90s vibe. The gritty bass gives a perfect foundation for the drums and consistent tambourine. There is a dry-synth that keeps the beat grounded, letting the vocals be the star of the show. There are lots of things Jemma has going on with the vocals that make me obsessed with this song. The robotic swell that gives Britney Spears and the occasional runs that give Christina Aguilera intertwine beautifully. Leading up to the chorus, the phrasing becomes accelerated, more excited. Giving the listeners an interesting chorus that echoes in between raw and phone-filter lines: “I’m a little obsessed/Do you even know that you’ve got control/I’ve been trying my best/But I can’t resist yeah it’s physical”. Altogether, this masterpiece is revitalizing the iconic pop that has been missing in today’s music. Jemma Johnson is a rising singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based out of Derby, located in the United Kingdom. She has racked up over 20 million streams within Spotify and YouTube. While experimenting with her take on alternative pop, she has been gigging with a variety of artists such as Charlie Simpson, Beth McCarthy, James Walsh, and more! • Review: "Antidote" - Dasie

Staying during the roughest parts of a relationship can crush your spirit, but “Antidote” by Dasie in her newest EP Modern Mona Lisa can lift you back up! This ending track tells the tale of going through the nitty gritty. The fighting, the problems, and the lack of communication can be so overwhelming. Even with the downs, she reminds listeners that we are no antidote to those problems! As much as we love a person, we can only do so much. Dasie sings of this, with the second verse spilling everything: “If I could I’d carry/All the trauma you’ve buried/But you and I both know/There’s only so much I can take/You question your existence/And you fight your inhibitions/But even when it’s heavy I will stay”. Dasie explains that, even through the rough times, stick through in the name of love! The strumming guitar starts the song of with a country-like vibe, following into the petty pop feeling. The snaps echo gracefully in the background, letting Dasie’s vocals shine throughout. The baby piano in the bridge flows into the lullaby vocal flow that is the chorus, creating a poppy atmosphere. In the second half of the song, the synth bells and the vocal layers give that flare to make the song picturesque. The minimal bass lets the song float peacefully, with light tone hanging out in the background. All of these elements add to a perfect ending to this EP. Capping the song off, the reverse white noise for the ending gives a great dramatic cliffhanger, making me want more. Dasie is an indie pop singer/songwriter based out of Nashville, Tennessee. As a little kid, she wrote songs in her hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated with a degree in Commercial Music, focusing on Vocal Performance and Songwriting at Utah Valley University. She then moved to Nashville to pursue her songwriting and artistry formation. Her music is inspired by artists like Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Julia Michaels. • Album Review: "Something Beautiful" - Miley Cyrus

“Something Beautiful”, released on May 30th, 2025, is Miley Cyrus’ ninth studio album. The album was released by Columbia Records and will be accompanied by a musical film that is to be released on June 6th, 2025. This visual album deals with various existential themes and is centered around finding light in the darkness and healing from the past. Cyrus is the executive producer of this album along with Shawn Everett. This album features the works of a variety of musicians and has earned praise from various media critics. TRACKLIST Prelude Something Beautiful End of the World More to Lose Interlude 1 Easy Lover Interlude 2 Golden Burning Sun Walk of Fame (Feat. Brittany Howard) Pretend You're God Every Girl You've Ever Loved (Feat. Naomi Campbell) Reborn Give Me Love Miley Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23rd, 1999. She is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and began her career in childhood as the main character of Disney show “Hannah Montana”. Cyrus’ solo career began in 2007 with her album “Meet Miley Cyrus”. Soon after was the release of “Breakout” and “Time of Our Lives” in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Through this strong start she was able to establish herself as a solid musician as she explored various musical brands and identities while still producing songs and art of quality.  Prelude The first track “Prelude” enters with repeated arpeggios. The percussion enters, and with the synths create a bouncy sound. A dramatic bass hit signals the entrance of the “lyrics”, which are closer to spoken poetry. Eloquent words combined with the intense instrumental create a beautifully mysterious atmosphere. The ending is epic and enticing, with emotional melodies on synths and dramatic percussive hits. This track is a fantastic introduction to the album, as Cyrus pushes the boundaries of her artistry. Something Beautiful The title track of the album evokes the style of RnB. There’s a groovy bass and melodic synth, along with brief interjections from a strings section. The instrumental is rather simple at the beginning, but Cyrus’ vocals are powerful in conveying the emotions behind the song. A saxophone enters in the pre-chorus, adding an exciting element teasing what’s to come. The chorus slams in its arrival. There’s an almost metal sound to the chorus. Perfectly complementing the lyrics of an all-consuming love, the sudden arrival of the chorus is reminiscent of a sudden arrival and disruption in your life. The RnB instrumental returns for the verse, with the metal instrumental being layered over the bass as the track closes out. End of the World This track begins with an exciting guitar melody and percussive grooves underneath vocalizations. With its major key and exciting tempo, it has an upbeat tone. This song is about urging someone to live in the moment and take risks. It is optimistic in nature and encourages the receiver of the song to live life to its absolute fullest. The instrumental is vaguely repetitive, and an extra melody enters in the second chorus. The bridge starts exciting then calms down, before returning to the excitement for the final chorus where the original melody is layered on top of the melody introduced in the second chorus. More to Lose “More to Lose” begins with long string and guitar melodies, and the introduction is wistful in nature. Underneath the first verse is the piano playing the chord progression. The vocals carry an emotional and reflective tone as they describe the pain of losing someone you love and being haunted by the memories while grappling with their decision to leave. The vulnerability in the lyrics is reflected in the more acoustic nature of the instrumentals compared to that of the rest of the album. In the bridge are emotional adlibs proceeding a modulation that creates a fantastically moving effect in the final chorus.  Interlude 1 As we arrive at the first interlude, we are met immediately with a wonderfully unique soundscape. The introduction begins with a mysterious string melody with interjecting percussive and synthetic tracks. The impact is almost unsettling while also drawing the listener in deeper. Eventually the introduction transitions into an exciting instrumental track that layers the unconventional sounds in a masterfully tasteful way.  The song ends on synths as transitions into the next track. Easy Lover “Easy Lover” has a groovy bass on top of a steady percussion. This song tells the story of a connection that is exciting but almost bad for you. It brings fun and interesting occurrences to your life, but the connection is not easy to maintain either due to the other person's lack of emotional availability or steadiness. The addictive nature of this relationship is captured in the catchy tune that will have you nodding along the entire time. The vocals themselves are impressive and powerful and are reflective of Cyrus’ technical abilities. Interlude 2 The second interlude circles back around to the unsettling feeling present within “Interlude 1” while expanding about that feeling with new sounds. It begins with distorted arpeggios that are joined by a swift and intimidating percussion. After this has been established enters a distorted arp melody. The melody is ornamented upon, but remains just as mysterious and enticing. Synth chords underneath that melody drive the track back to the ending statement. Golden Burning Sun “Golden Burning Sun” is a song about wanting to love someone and treat them well. It tells the story of vulnerability that is the undertone to all relationships. Each involved party must be vulnerable and open with each other if the relationship is to work. An intense synth lies underneath piano melodies and emotional vocals. Eventually a grooving percussion and guitar melody replace the instrumental as the lyrics delve into an aspirational future with another person. Glittery synths drive the track to a short bridge before returning to the final chorus. Walk of Fame (Feat. Brittany Howard) This song features Alabaman singer-songwriter Brittany Howard. “Walk of Fame” begins with choppy synths that drive the chord progression underneath impressive vocalizations by Howard. Just as a percussion beat begins, so does Cyrus with the first verse. The dance groove is complemented by confidence-driven lyrics, creating a track that makes listeners want to strut. There are light hints of Cyrus discussing the struggles within fame and receiving attention, but there is also an overwhelming essence of optimism as she talks about walking with pride in spite of issues or anxieties.  Pretend You're God Pretend You’re God” begins with isolated vocals layered atop thin instrumentation. Eventually percussion tracks enter the mix as well. The lyrics are a story of wanting someone so desperately to stay and protect and take care of you. It is indicative of an almost religious devotion to a person. Synths contribute to the ethereal atmosphere, creating a presence of something powerful but delicate. The ending verses describe the feeling of losing someone like this, and how it feels as if you have lost part of your soul or identity.  Every Girl You've Ever Loved (Feat. Naomi Campbell) This song features British fashion model, actress, and philanthropist Naomi Campbell. Immediately this track enters with an exciting bang, as it sounds off with a trumpet melody and an upbeat percussion track enters with the verse. This song depicts working to get someone you want in spite of them fighting the commitment. The chord progression is presented by an exciting piano under the chorus, with Campbell on adlibs. Lyrics develop the story more, discussing the experience of knowing you can give someone what they need and wondering why they won’t accept it. They simply just don’t want to give you what you want. The ending has bouncy synths and exciting ad libs that create the feeling of dancing in the club. Reborn “Reborn” starts with echoey synths and the return of spoken poetry lyrics before returning to Cyrus’ impressive vocals. This track is about an intense and spiritual connection. Synths develop a melody as Cyrus tells her story. She wants to merge her life with the recipient of this song and desires the feeling of growing through and around someone. Although repetitive, this song is spectacularly moving. Give Me Love “Give Me Love” depicts the all-consuming nature of love. There is a guitar introduction as well as chords on deep synths. On top of this moment interjects a momentary flute melody. There is an almost gentle feeling of the instrumental that lies underneath the poetic and eloquent lyricism of this closing song, leaving listeners reflective and satisfied. My favorite track off of this album has to be “Prelude”. I think the artistic leaps Cyrus takes in this entire album is very refreshing to see from a mainstream artist. Miley Cyrus has been a household name for over a decade, and I love seeing this kind of art released on such a large scale. I feel as though this makes more art forms more accessible to wider audiences as such a large audience is releasing it. If there was any doubt about Cyrus’ artistic growth and development, she has effectively squashed them with this release. • Review: "Give Me Some Space" - Fox Stevenson

Inspired by overstimulation, “Give Me Some Space” criticizes brain-rot bandwagoning, and mocks the uncertainty of information in a corrupt society. He sarcastically sings “no questioning what you know for sure/ no what would anyone do that for,” highlighting the infectious nature of misinformation and consequential obliviousness to real issues. Stevenson asks for “some space” to separate him from the mindless following of the majority, and conveys the frustration of “don’t tell me what I need to know,” when he is capable of informing himself- accurately. This social protest suggests historic happenings as “they might look back on us,” followed by “how are people buying the myth,” indicating the necessity and importance of the topic. What better way to comment on the status of society than to produce an action-packed song? Stevenson begins with what sounds like a kazoo, maybe providing a less-serious intro sound to soften the punch of the track’s topic. His song presents as a medley of quick sounds that push his important message through unconventional instruments, layering, and vocals. Punk-ish bridge breaks with bold strings offer a variety of sound that is valuable to this genre. Stevenson’s steady voice brings structure to a busy beat, creating a balance in sound that works well. Additionally, multiple build ups add an urgency to the song that parallels the timely message. “Give Me Some Space” offers variability that’s paired with a consistency that promotes cohesiveness of the track. The uniqueness of production is unmatched, making it easy to recognize Stevenson’s skill and talent. With influences like Gorillaz , Weezer , and 2000s video game music, Stevenson meshes and executes genres complimented by his own exclusive flair. He’s a singer/songwriter that plays multiple instruments. He is also a DJ and producer, and is responsible for the vocals, lyrics, and production of all his singles as well as the entire upcoming Sunk Cost Fallacy album. He also performs with a guitar, drum and vocal trio dedicated to sharing his invigorating sound, live. With millions of streams and over 800K monthly listeners, Stevenson is quite popular on Spotify and other music platforms. His most frequently streamed song, “Bruises”, has over 38 million streams on Spotify and was released in 2018. He releases Sunk Cost Fallacy in late June, and is touring  in July.  Written By Hanna Hathaway FOLLOW FOX STEVENSON: Instagram | Spotify | Facebook  | YouTube

  • Review: "LOSER" - Elli Moore

Elli Moore’s newest single, LOSER, is an upbeat pop song about a breakup. It’s not just your average breakup song. She is speaking directly to her ex and letting her ex know it’s all their fault. Have you ever had an ex that wasn’t worth your time? If so, this song describes the exact way you felt after the relationship ended and it makes you feel better about the heartbreak. The music video is also really fun. Someone is keeping Elli hostage and her friend group has come to save her is the premise of the music video. The choreography towards the end was the icing on the cake of what is a high budget and well produced music video to accompany a high energy and well produced song. LOSER starts with “La, la, la-la-la-la, la, loser, la, la, la-la-la-la” which is a part of the chorus as well. I like that Elli starts with a small taste of the chorus before she jumps into the body of the song. Lyrics like “Look at you, turning blue over just a little breakup. When you're the one who brought the drama”, “You thought that I was someone easy to blind so I showed my spine and gotcha tongue tied”, and “You could’ve had me, but now you lost me. See when you’re cocky, that’s what you’ll get” let the ex know how bad they messed up. Breakups are difficult to deal with, but the upbeat manner of the song is going to make you forget about your ex in a heartbeat. After all, music is the best medicine. Elli Moore is a 28 year old singer, songwriter, and producer based in Los Angeles, California. She released her debut EP, Confections, back in March of 2020 and consistently released solo music up until today. She is also one half of pop writing/production duo, LYRE , alongside her best friend, Alina Smith . Together, they have written and produced a plethora of songs including ITZY ’s “Mafia In The Morning” and Fall Out Boy ’s “Hands Up (Dear Future Self)". In between solo work and LYRE, she partners with an organization, She Writes , that helps young women learn how to write and produce music. This goes without saying, but Elli is extremely accomplished, the work she has done is inspiring to all women, and she deserves to be spotlighted even more. • Review: "the things that hurt to say out loud" - Callie Young

Callie Young has released her new single, “the things that hurt to say out loud.” Beginning to finally live life independently, the fear of failure haunts Young. Not going through the usual experience of college, Young instead chose to pursue music. Writing about the fears she faces when coming into the music industry, Young faces off with her internal doubts, voicing the thoughts of what if’s and fears of wasting space. However, when speaking these thoughts that haunt Young’s early 20's, there’s a spark of realization: everyone has these fears of failure throughout their lives, and by admitting to these fears, we can receive the support we need in order to succeed. Vulnerable and relatable, Young expresses her emotions beautifully throughout “the things that hurt to say out loud.” Her experience of chasing her dreams is met with societal expectations and stereotypes, something all young adults struggle with. Whether it’d be the lack of college experience and lack of degree on her resume or the financial struggles of breaking through the music industry, Young’s fears of not making herself proud can translate to any 20-something’s experience of becoming more and more independent, with more responsibility and fault falling onto their shoulders. No matter where you are in life, these fears remain the same for those who chase their dreams, and Young has created a song that captures the feeling perfectly. Callie Young is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter. Originally from southwest Colorado, Young grew up around music, being a member of alternative rock band,The Garrett Young Collective along with her brother. With inspirations coming from her country and folk roots, Young also has explored the indie-pop world as well. With “the things that hurt to say out loud” being her newest release of 2025, Young continues a strong year in her discography. Singles “crumbling,” “12 ROUNDS,” and “training wheels” preceded the release, leaving listeners hoping for more.
