The two artists have incredibly unique voices that, when blend together, create a harmonic soundscape that audiences fall in love with. “Shape Of Me” was originally featured as a track on Ora’s 2023 album, You & I. As a surprise for her mother’s birthday, whom the song is about, the singer decided to release a new version with the Australian artist. The sweet track is not only a homage to her mother and how she shaped Ora into the woman she is today but is also dedicated to all the women in her life that inspire her. The electrifying guitar solo is heard in the outro, closing out the track with an unforgettable piece of himself. Stela Cole’s latest single “Die Hard” is here! This is one of her first tracks from her sonic rebirth, taking inspiration from greats like Fleetwood Mac, The Mama’s and Papa’s, and the Eagles, but also from newer artists like Tame Impala and the Arctic Monkeys. Taking 2023 to focus on her mental health, exiting her old label deal, and blacking out all her profiles, this is Stela’s first song released in a year. This dark and sultry pop track delves into a toxic relationship, and how difficult it can be to exit an endless cycle of high-highs and low-lows with a partner. She starts off the song by recognizing that she has nothing to lose with her partner, but she just doesn’t care. She can’t escape this relationship, “so what's the fun of missing out if I don't have to?” Once again, another day is lost and “another fight lights [her] up,” yet she can never leave. In the chorus, she introduces the hook of the song: “old habits die hard.” Stela’s partner plays her everyday, but she loves it. In the bridge, she repeats these heartbreaking lines: “what's the use?/there's no escaping you/no matter what I do/my body knows the truth.” Even more heartbreakingly, Stela revealed that “Die Hard is about [her] experience of consistently choosing the wrong path with the wrong people… even when [she knows] where it ends." This is a sultry and emotionally intense track with a performance that is flawless yet harrowing. The production is relatively simple, as it features only an electric guitar and strings with some moody backdrops lingering in the background. The electric guitar riffs are moody and dark, giving “Die Hard" a rock feel. Similarly, the string swells and punches give the track an edgy feel as well. Surprisingly, the guitar and the strings mesh and blend really well. Stela’s vocals are very rich and luscious, as she flexes her lower range in the verses and higher range in the choruses. Her harmonies and runs in the chorus once again add a dark and edgy vibe as well. Most importantly, the production matches perfectly with the theme of the lyrics as well as the music video. Hollyn Elizabeth Shadinger, professionally known as Stela Cole’ is an American singer-songwriter who first entered the music scene in 2018. She first started focusing on songwriting at 15 years old, and was noticed by Steve Sparrow, her eventual manager, after a couple of demos.  She attended Belmont University to pursue a degree in “Commercial Voice”, but dropped out after being signed by RCA Records. There’s beauty in knowing that no matter what comes out of the future, a friend will always remain by your side. In this latest collaboration by artists Lucie Glang and Dominic Romano “Friend,” The track is a beautiful folk song that’s use of imagery of the changes within nature transports listeners into a journey of the unconditional love of friendship. What makes this song feel more uplifted by the power of friendship is the fact that the song is a collaboration between two artists, it’s that teamwork nature that comes out of the best relationships. The song itself is carried by sweet sounds and comforting vocals, and it’s certainly a song one could see themselves listening to at all times of the day. There’s a lot to love when it comes to “Friend” and it’s fun to explore the musical world Lucie Glang and Dominic Romano have created. There’s a nostalgic tone in “Friend” that makes one feel transported into their childhood when the magic of finding forever friends is first introduced, and the theme of nature and its ever-changing features. It’s easy to grow fond of the musical arrangements of “Friend,” as it really does make one feel warmer. The track begins with an eerie intro that immediately captivates audiences, reeling them into the gloomy atmosphere. After the first measure, the bass beat kicks off before margø’s compelling voice signifies the first verse. The dynamic production keeps the audience mesmerized while the lyrics describe the haunting message.  As the pre-chorus begins, the instrumentation intensifies, making the listener anticipate the heavy drop in the chorus. When margø says the line: “I do anything and everything to hit the self-destruct,” the synth sound provides an effect that musically imitates the sound of a machine breaking down. While it maintains the melodic element of a cohesive production, it also encapsulates this feeling of mentally hitting a self-destruct button, bringing to life the lyrics. Being in the spotlight and having millions of eyes on you isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. It can come with people that try to project hate and negativity onto you, as a way to try and bring your light down. Your personality or content can spread positivity or authenticity, but there's always those haters that want to shut it down. Spreading positivity uplifts people, but for some strange reason, there's always those negative nancies hiding behind the phone with post notifications turned on, ready to spam the comments with hate. It's giving jealousy or secret fan. But what I love about Asher Angel's latest song, “ Flip the Switch ,” is that it highlights maintaining his confidence in his own skin, no matter what comes his way or who's watching. The haters and comments aren’t affecting him at all, as he shares that he wants to continue highlighting only positivity by posting whatever make him happy. Hate and negativity is seen everywhere, everytime you scroll. Whether it's a hate comment or a post directed towards Asher, it’s exhausting. So, Asher flips the switch on that. In this super poppy, upbeat and catchy track, he tells everyone in the first verse that he’s a: “ Sharp shooter, give me any target I hit it. Next up, put me in a game I won’t quit. Won’t freeze even though I’m so cold .” The “ sharp shooter ” metaphor indicates precision in skill in overcoming the hate. I personally think a lot of girls can relate to this song. After getting frustrated by guys who are so emotionally closed off, it’s a refreshing change to find one who’s open and more in touch with their own feelings. And it’s songs like these, however fun they are, that can start to change the assumption that all women want stereotypically strong, emotionless men. She has everything she wants with her life, but one thing is missing: not feeling alone. It’s a relatable feeling, especially after everything we as a population have been through the last few years. With everything being digital or nobody wanting to talk anymore, Nessi touches on the feeling we’ve all been feeling throughout the last couple of years–lonely in a crowd full of people. With this song, Nessi helps people connect to this feeling and lets others know they are not alone in the ever-growing crowd. That’s one of the main things I love about this song: the song’s relatability to the general public helps fans not only connect to Nessi but also helps the fans connect themselves. However, there’s also so much more to love about this recent track. I also love the production of this single. I’m not usually a massive fan of dance music, but “Lonely in a crowd” makes the production lowkey enough to match the song and make it enjoyable to both dance music listeners and other genres. The lyrics match the feeling as well. Nessi does such an excellent job of writing her heart out and putting her and other listener’s feelings into words that it helps people connect to the song even more. Coming into 2024 with over 12,000 monthly listeners, Nessi is ready to take on the new year with even more songs that fans will love. Scandinavian pop newcomer NOEL just released the emotive "Everything's Fine" in duet with Oslo-based singer Tessa Odden. Inspired by NOEL's feelings around "what ifs" and "what could have beens" with past relationships, the lyrics explore feeling regret and wishing that you could wake up one day and have the person you love back in your life. With rich vocals set over a piano-driven production, NOEL has crafted a sound that could be compared to Lewis Capaldi and James Arthur. The track is elevated with the addition of Odden's gentle vocals. The pair recorded this song one day in Stockholm. Beginning with NOEL's vocals, the song start with him reflecting on a relationship and missing this person. The dreamlike chorus is an expression of an ideal world, where they are together and everything is better. This is depicted with lyrics like "Then we fight about who loves the other more and / It's fine 'cause you're still mine / Everything's fine." The track builds into the second verse, where Odden comes in with her passionate vocals. As Odden adds in harmonizing layers over the second half of the track, the pair really pull you into the feelings of desperation, regret, and longing that the lyrics convey. First gaining attention through bedroom covers on TikTok, NOEL released his first single "When You're Not Mine" just in 2023. He originally had football dreams, but a knee injury at age 17 propelled him to switch his focus to music. "Everything's Fine" marks another single in anticipation of his debut EP Headed North releasing on March 8, 2024.
