  • Review: "Undo" - pressley

pressley's latest release, "Undo," pounds with bass and beats as heavy as her regrets. pressley recalls the affection from a past relationship as if the memories are tattooed in her mind. As people change in relationships, sometimes we miss who they were at the start and regret the love we gave them. If it was going to end, was that love worth anything? The desire to take it back fuels pressley to move forward. She sings, "Un-kiss you, un-love you, un-call you, un-touch you…I wish that I could hit undo." The lyrics are crushing, like you've deleted your favorite photo, and it's gone forever. But this regret protects pressley and many of us when we need to erase our attachment to the past. The song hits like a phone colliding with the wall, smashing the glass–erasing every memory. Every lyric stands out like a crack in the screen. The melodic, bouncy synths create a digitized atmosphere as if our face is glowing with the same blue light as pressley. It takes us into this moment of scrolling through memories and wanting to press the undo button. pressley's voice remains steady throughout the song as if she's not showing her anger. It's purely through her words. She maintains a cool composure with a controlled edge. Instead of a desperation to forget, she shows that the power is in her hands. pressley's undo button stays far from her career as she pursues one achievement after another. In addition to being a musician, she is also an actress, dancer, content creator, and entrepreneur. You may recognize her from the final season of Dance Moms and Nickelodeon's Erin and Aaron. She recently signed a record label deal with Nickelodeon Music, which she can share on her platforms with her reach of over 10 million followers. She supports UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital and Best Friends Animal Society. Although she may seem cold in this song, pressley has a heart burning with passion. • Review: "Sleeping With The Enemy" - Maria Milis

Maria Milis’ debut single, Sleeping With The Enemy, is a dream pop song about realizing your partner is toxic. It’s exactly what it sounds like. You’re in a relationship with someone and you know they are not good for you. In these kinds of relationships, the other person is very manipulative and has a way of making you stay even when you know it’s a bad idea. Have any of you ever felt that kind of stuck in a relationship before? When you can’t recognize the person you’re with and you’re unhappy, it’s really time to leave the relationship. When you all listen to this song, hopefully you’ll be able to reevaluate any similiar situations you've had. Sleeping With The Enemy immediately pulls you in with a catchy beat thumping along with the first verse, “I feel you pull me closer. Why is it that I feel distant”. In the first pre-chorus, she sings “You tear me down then build me up somehow. Push me to the ground then give me a helping hand.” I like the way she describes his manipulation tactics here. In the bridge, she sings “I heard your hisses way before you bit me with your venom. I’m laying next to someone who has ill intentions.” I like the imagery she uses here when she compares him to a snake. I like the overall vibe of the song, the mature way she discusses toxicity, and the production. Maria Milis is a 23 year old singer-songwriter born and raised in London with a unique Greek and Brazilian background. She modeled, got a law degree, and worked as a trainee solicitor before she decided to pursue music full time. She worked on her debut single with Grammy nominated producer, Leah Haywood , who is most known for her work with Selena Gomez , Nicki Minaj , Justin Bieber , and Katy Perry . The song has officially charted on the UK iTunes chart. Her upcoming EP will dive into toxic and challenging relationships she experienced in her youth and how they helped her grow into the woman she is today. Be sure to check it out! • Review: "Architecture" - Nieri

Nieri’s latest song, Architecture, is a dance/electro/synth pop song about breaking free from toxic power dynamics. Have you been in that situation before? Sadly, a lot of people have this experience. Because people are people, there’s always going to be ones that feel the need to control others. A relationship should be balanced and equal and come with authentic love from all individuals involved. True love is out there and you never have to settle for anyone who mistreats you, but you don’t have to rush either. The message of the song is very important and I hope that those with this experience can resonate with the song. Architecture begins with a captivating beat before he makes his way into the first verse. My favorite lyrics are “Such an amateur, putting your design sheets on the floor” and “Always engineered, pushing buttons like I’m a machine”. The first thing I noticed about this song is that it sounds unique to most of the other dance pop music I’m used to listening to. Its killer bassline, his falsetto, and production are major highlights. Nowadays, a pop song will usually have a bridge that contains extra lyrics or no bridge at all. I love and respect the idea to have a dance break serve as the bridge. In my opinion, it is the most exciting way to transition into the final chorus/climax. Nieri is a pop artist born in Milan, Italy, but is currently based in Los Angeles, California. He is known for high-energy dance music inspired by his personal experiences and struggles, but his music also serves the purpose of inspiring and challenging his fans to be who they really are. This type of music can be seen throughout his discography and started with his debut EP, “Starshine”, which was released in July 2022. He has been performing at numerous festivals in Los Angeles and New York City such as We Found New Music and NYC Pride. He released a song in May titled “People Pleaser” with a similar cover art style so he might be gearing up for a big year. Make sure to keep an eye out! • Review: "Watered Down" - MELANi

Have you ever loved someone so much that not being with them feels like you are numb all around? The connection you shared was so powerful and beautiful that nothing else mattered besides the two of you. That was until somewhere along the way the other person stopped putting in effort and stopped putting in their love. It became this sad cycle of forcing conversations and making memories that didn’t have a purpose. MELANi released her latest track titled “Watered Down” on June 27, 2025. A song that reminds us to remember who we are and stop letting those we love wash away the best parts of ourselves.   “Watered Down” begins with MELANi’s heavenly voice that immediately grabs your attention. Her vocals were so beautiful I seriously could not get enough of this entire song. There was not a moment where I couldn’t feel the raw and intense emotion of her lyrics. I also enjoyed the steady drum beat throughout the song as it made the track familiar. The mood of the entire song was so empowering as well. She turned what is such a vulnerable and hard truth to admit into such an inspiring track for anyone who listens.   The talented artist that is MELANi is a singer/songwriter hailing from Melbourne, Australia. • Review: "What I Want" - Sophia Bolinder (feat. John Soul)

Sophia Bolinder released her single “What I Want” featuring John Soul on February 6, 2025. This song is about the desire and emotions that come with being in a relationship that is a little hard to navigate sometimes. Being in any sort of relationship is hard because there are always mixed feelings. Somewhere along the way you lose sight of what is really important, which is each other. Nothing else matters in those moments besides the person standing right next to you. Everyone is going to have their rough patches in a relationship, but the love grows stronger each time you move past it.   “What I Want” opens with such a groovy and soulful beat. It was almost hypnotizing how amazing the intro was especially with the vocals that followed. I thought the lyrics were also so heartwarming with lines like “Its me and you / And that’s the way it shows.” They gave off this sense of promise and pure love which I for one loved. I also enjoyed the slow beat of this track as it gave off such an intimate mood. Everything about this song was wonderful. I could not stop listening and I almost immediately added it to my everyday listening playlist.   Sophia Bolinder is a singer/songwriter from Malmo, Sweden. She released her debut track this year titled “What I Want.” The amazing track falls under that of the soul R&B genre. The song is filled with so much emotion and ear catching beats. Making it the perfect song for anyone who listens. I highly recommend giving this track a listen as you will not be disappointed. • Review: "Sometimes" - Dylan Dunlap

Dylan Dunlap has gifted us a solemn summertime hit. "Sometimes" paints a picture of what it's like to love someone who's toxic for you. We can grasp the gut wrenching feeling of sacrificing our happiness and health for someone who seems to take advantage of us. There are many solid lines throughout the song, one of my personal favorites comes at the very beginning when it says, "Sometimes / I lied / When I said I love you / I meant I'm scared of you." There's a level of rawness being portrayed by the artist. We're seeing the exposed version of themselves, which helps us better understand the situation. Another smashing line comes towards the end of the song, it says, "Shadows and sunbeams / And pages of nothing / The truth was harder than the lie / The truth was darker than the night." Here, we, as the listener can grasp the seriousness behind the lyrics. A common consensus can be reached that the relationship has become toxic, and there's a need to be free of the person/relationship. The tonality and mood of this piece are very similar. When evaluated you can easily come to the conclusion that the tone is rather melancholic and contemplative. Conflict is very present within the song. Having a tone that can pull the mood into the piece cohesively, adding to the conflicted feeling's, is exceptional and unique. This bleeds into the mood which is tense and introspective. It's a self evaluation of human emotions, the tension that affects them, and how to balance everything at once. The instrumentation plays a huge role in bringing the song finality, or a finished touch to tie the song together. We encounter a mellowed indie-pop fusion, bringing tense beats, layered rhythms, and percussive guitar. Each layer connects to the lyrics in a powerful way, adding more emotional depth. The tense beats contribute and create a more emotionally driven pace, where the guitar adds the familiar sound of a beating heart making it seem more personal to the listener. Each element flows smoothly, creating an intricately woven, yet impactful song. Dunlap nurtured his passion for music at a young age, teaching himself piano at the age of 6 so he could participate in a school talent show. Since then he's pursued his career to the fullest hitting many milestones. Dylan Dunlap, being inspired by artists such as Coldplay and Mumford & Sons, released his debut EP in 2019 titled "Things I Can't Explain." The EP was a hit, launching him even further into the musical realm. He's toured across the U.S. and U.K., surpassing 20 million streams, and supported OneRepublic at a sold out show in Utah. The song "Sometimes" is part of his upcoming album entitled "BROOKLYNITE." Show Dylan Dunlap some love and listen to his new song. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the release of his new album as well. You won't want to miss it! Written By Destiny Rundquist FOLLOW Dylan Dunlap: Instagram | Spotify  | TikTok  | Facebook

  • Review: "Yas!" - Fox Stevenson

We can all agree that things are at an all time high. No matter where you are in the world, it seems as if something really big is happening on a daily basis. What's important is to have the little voice in your ear to tell you that "this too shall pass." That's exactly what the song Yas! by Fox Stevenson brings to the table. This song brings an optimistic outlook on the things that are happening in the world while also asking big questions. The writing that Fox brings to the table is inclusive while also touching on the political climate that we're having to deal with on a daily basis. This song starts off acapella style with an amazing blend of harmonies giving us a sample of just how talented Fox's production is. All this leads up into a very fun, high paced and uplifting chorus. The chorus has this energy that is unmatched from any other song I've ever heard. What I think is really important to note is how innovative Fox is with using technology to come up with sounds adding even more texture to their songs. In this song specifically, Fox uses these sounds as fillers in the background to exapnd the horizon for listeners. While listening in headphones, it really allows the audience to be thrown into a whole different world. Stanley Stevenson-Byrne, also known as Fox Stevenson, is an English singer-songwriter, DJ and producer. Beginning in the early 2000s, Fox's interest in electronic music production began when they released their first vocal track at just 15-16 years old. Fox turned to Youtube where an audience started forming as well as putting stuff up on Soundcloud in order to start spreading the word of their talents. From there, Fox has just been growing and growing. Fox just released their second album allowing the work they've laid down before to continue growing. Written By Breanna M. • Concert Review: Beyonce - Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour in Houston

Photo: Beyonce's Instagram This ain’t Texas… Actually it is. I went to see Beyonce in Houston, Texas at NRG Stadium. I went to both shows. I also went to the Renaissance Tour. Same venue. Both shows. Both night 1s in the 100s. Both Night 2s on the floor. Every time I share that with people, they get upset. I can’t imagine why. If there’s a time to see Beyonce, it’s in her hometown. Regardless of the setlist or special guests or anything else, she performs her best shows in Houston. For the Renaissance Tour, we got Megan Thee Stallion as our special guest and they performed Savage together. We also got the Big 3: THIQUE, ALL UP IN UR MIND, and Drunk In Love. Night 2 won the mute challenge. (We will forever have bragging rights!) Now back to the Cowboy Carter Tour... The show started promptly at 7:50 pm. (Much to everyone’s surprise. Definitely the earliest concert start time I’ve ever been to.) It's A Lot of Talkin' Goin' On Before the show starts, the American flag is plastered on the screen. The screen starts flashing. Smoke is rising. Dancers are coming on stage. Queen Bey has arrived. Act 1: Requiem starts with “AMERICAN REQUIEM”, the perfect opener for both the album and tour. She continues with a cover of the The Beatles song, “ BLACKBIRD ”, “ Star Spangled Banner ” with Jimi Hendrix ’s instrumental arrangement, “Freedom”, and “YA YA”/“Why Don’t Love Me”. Favorite moment: I’m a sucker for Beyonce’s model/runway walk so I’ll give this one to the beginning of “Freedom” where she vigorously shakes her head and struts down the catwalk. Beyonce Performing American Requiem Night 1 They Never Take The Country Out Me Act 2: Revolution started with a series of clips known as the Propaganda interlude. The clips showed black musicians singing country, playing the banjo, and yodeling. Fast forward to present day and the hate spewed at her for deciding to make country music. America has a problem indeed! She stands at the podium performing “AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM” and continues on with “SPAGHETII”, “Formation”, “MY HOUSE”, and “Diva”. Favorite moment: I loved the back and forth between ”MY HOUSE” and Gil Scott-Heron ’s “ The Revolution Will Not Be Televised ” lyrics serving as a transition into “Diva”. Beyonce Performing America Has A Problem and Diva Night 1 Time Heals Everything. I Don't Need Anything. Act 3: Refuge's Trailer interlude was like watching a Western film. Beyonce played the infamous Cowboy Carter. Cowboy Carter is the new gal in town. Tough as nails and colder than Titanic water. Those in her way best step out the way. This is what I like to call the ballad section. She performed “ALLIGATOR TEARS”, “JUST FOR FUN”, “PROTECTOR” where she brought out her youngest daughter, Rumi. Blue Ivy, her oldest daughter, was there as well, and she was owning the stage with her dance moves throughout the entire show. Clips of various moments with her twins came before "FLAMENCO". Favorite moment: The tap dancer and guitarist at the end of “FLAMENCO” were chef's kiss!! Beyonce Performing Protector A-O-T-Y Who Ain't Win Act 4: Marfa started with the Peep Show interlude where Beyonce is wearing different outfits and seems to be flirting with herself. I couldn't interpret this interlude as well as the others, but that's okay. I don't mind being wrong. Anyway, this section featured a slew of Cowboy Carter songs including “DESERT EAGLE”, “RIIVERDANCE”, and “LEVIl’s JEANS” and called back to Renaissance with “THIQUE”, “PURE/HONEY”, and “SUMMER RENAISSANCE”. Favorite moment: She changed the lyrics during the BUCKIN’ segment from “A-O-T-Y I ain’t win” to “A-O-T-Y who ain’t win”. She did that because she won Album of the Year at the Grammy’s earlier this year. Speaking of the Grammy’s, did y’all see the new categories they created? One of them is Best Traditional Country Album. As we all know, Beyonce became the first black artist to win Best Country Album. That award has now been renamed to Best Contemporary Country Album. Bey's impact! Beyonce Performing ll Hands ll Heaven Night 2 You Must Not Know 'Bout Me Act 5: Tease began with the Outlaw interlude where Beyonce was a 400 foot cowboy walking through all the cities she performed at on this tour. She didn’t technically show the city of Houston. Instead, she picked up a baby alligator in an oil town surrounded by the desert. This is most definitely inspired by East Texas. (Think Midland or Abilene) It was the perfect transition into “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM”. This portion of the show was the longest and featured a string of songs from various albums. She performed iconic pop hits including “Crazy In Love” and “Single Ladies”, some more country songs such as a cover of Dolly Parton 's " Jolene " and “Daddy Lessons”, and more from Renaissance like “CUFF IT” and “HEATED”. Favorite moment: Our surprise song for both nights was a cover of Maze ’s song “ Before I Let Go ”. It was permanently on the setlist for the Renaissance Tour as well. You can tell she loves that song and we love singing it back to her. Beyonce Performing Texas Hold Em and Crazy In Love Night 1 Beyonce Performing Jolene Night 2 Been Off. Been On. Been Back. What You Know About That? Act 6: Renaissance's interlude was called Holy Daughter. Various images of Beyonce in the bathroom of a night club, in a veil holding flowers, and smoking a cigarette spread across the screen. The acoustic guitar kicks in as she sings “DAUGHTER”. Then, she brings us back to the Renaissance with “I’M THAT GIRL”, “COZY”, and “ALIEN SUPERSTAR”. This is what I wanna see! Renaissance is my favorite album and the tour was amazing. I'm so happy she peformed some of the songs again, specifically "COZY" as that's a top 5 song from that album. Favorite moment: During “DAUGHTER”, her dress was lighting up, glitching, and changing colors. That was really cool! Beyonce Performing I'm That Girl, Cozy, and Alien Superstar Night 1 Them Old Ideas Are Buried Here Act 7: Reclamation kicked off with the Legacy interlude. This series of clips showed the different versions of Beyonce including dancing in the living room growing up, performing as a member of Destiny’s Child, surgery on her knee, winning awards, and so many more milestones that led to her to this moment. At the end of the show, she sings the final two songs, “16 Carriages” and “Amen”. For “16 Carriages”, she flies around the stadium in a red car holding onto the American flag. On Night 1, there was an incident where the car was tipping too far to the right as you can see in the picture below. She said stop three times and thanked us for our patience, but was slowly brought down from the car. She walked to the stage and finished the rest of the song there. She skipped the song completely on night 2. She finished the legendary performance with “Amen”, the closer on both the album and this tour. She vehemently thanked us and took multiple bows. Lights shut off. She gone! Favorite moment: I wish the car hadn't malfuntioned and she could've done it safely, but her singing in the car was a cool concept. Only Bey could pull up in those clothes, look so good, and have fantastic vocals before, during, and after a serious malfunction! 16 Carriages Malfunction I'm One of One. I'm Number One. I'm The Only One. Yes B. Yes you are. Earlier, I chose my favorite moment from each act, but I have to choose my overall favorite moment and that is… the entire show! It’s too hard to pick one moment because she played so many of my favorite songs. From fashion to vocal ability to choreography to personality to stage design to setlist design to visuals to celebrating black culture, she gave us everything. She’s also very stunning! I grew up listening to Beyonce because I was surrounded by people who loved Beyonce so this has been a lifelong journey for me and a dream come true to see her perform live. If you’ve never seen her live, you should definitely go when you have the chance. I'm done savin' this money, tonight we gon' ball out! That’s exactly what I did and I don’t regret it! I’d like to praise her even further. She is the Queen of Incorporation. The way she interpolates/adds elements of her own songs and other artists’ songs into her setlist that contribute to the story she is telling is something that needs to be studied. She always pays homage to Texas! It is truly remarkable to see a black woman performing country music and breaking records. The album and tour are pivotal moments in music history. History can't be erased! (I promise that's the last lyric reference.) If I had to rate her performance, I would give it 10 10 10s across the board! (Okay. Now, I'm finished!) When we look back on Beyoncé’s legacy, it’ll be filled with times like this where she withstood unfair criticism and discrimination to create iconic moments! She is an inspiration to me and so many others. I could go on and on about how phenomenal Beyonce is because it’s true and her level of talent is extremely rare. In simplest terms, Beyonce equals legend. Beyonce Performing Amen Night 2 Beyonce inspired me to write an article about country music's black roots. If you’re interested in that, it will be released later this month so be sure to check it out. Tour film? Visuals? Act lll? (My theory is contemporary and traditional rock with sub genres such as soft rock, new wave, blues, and even heavy metal.) Whenever Beyonce releases something, I will be reviewing it. Until then… A good night! (Tips hat) Written By Jazz Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Spotify | TikTok | YouTube *copyright not intended. Fair use act, section 107.

  • Review: "Fun" - Madison Margot

Madison Margot lures an old love into the veil of the past through a common proposition: just one more night. She sings “one more night where we can kick it for the hell of it,” aiming to resurrect the memories of hope that flutter in her head. Madison fantasizes about one last taste of this person, singing “you keep me up through the night”. She sells this last night rendezvous with a yearn-heavy “wouldn’t that be fun?”. She knows it might be “irresponsible, illogical” to “reopen what we closed,” but allows a compulsory persuasion that begs for one last glimpse of this person. Madison creates an intimate exclusivity with them that acknowledges her poor judgement through lyrics like “they’ll never know.” Madison longs for a bit more time with a past lover through the vulnerable lyrics of “Fun”.  Madison’s voice is smooth with bits of vibrato that lean into an upbeat chorus to distract from a somber subject. The introduction offers an electro-pop sound effect that adds dimension to the track. A fuzzy baseline carries the beat with light drumming that fluctuates. Slight vocal reverberation contributes to an ethereal sound that embodies the ghost of memories in the track. Slower sections include acoustic strings that soften the sound and ground the listener. “Fun” provides an instrumental stability that contrasts the emotions in the song. This creates a well-rounded track that attracts and retains listeners. Madison sports an inflection so emotion-packed that the track evokes complex feelings.  American pop singer/songwriter, Madison Margot, began singing, writing, and playing instruments when she was just 11 years old. Her work is similar to that of Taylor Swift, Haim, and Halsey’s. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies and likes to work with only female directors to empower women. Madison released her first song “Virgin in a Red Dress” in 2017, album “The Chronicles of Lovers” in 2020, and her latest single at the end of June. Her most popular release is “Into the Morning” with over 125K streams on Spotify. She has over 250K streams on Spotify altogether. To learn more about Madison Margot, follow her socials linked below! • Review: "WHERE DO U GO?" - Sawyer Utah

We've all been there; so head over heels crushing on somebody that doesn't know how we feel, nor do we know how they feel about us either, but we're too scared to fess up. So, we fester in our anxiety and overwhelming gushy feelings. "WHERE DO U GO?" by Sawyer Utah is about those lingering questions we ask ourselves when we're crushing hard on someone. Where the heck do they go when they're not hanging out with us? Are they with somebody else? Are they having a better time with them than they do when they're with me? It's enough to make you sick. Although the the topic of "WHERE DO U GO?" feeds all of us anxious hopeless romantics, the song itself is a bop and a half. The rushing, energetic beat has a nostalgic groove that gets you ready to move. The overall production has a bright, electro-pop atmosphere that is addictingly catchy. Not to mention Sawyer's incredibly smooth and heavenly voice to top it all off. Accompanied with a self-directed music video (with creative director Orchee Sorker ) that takes you all over New York City and a remote desert location, "WHERE DO U GO?" is pure chaotic pop perfection. Sawyer Utah is a 24-year-old singer/songwriter and producer. Originally from La Crosse, Wisconsin, he began writing songs at the very young age of seven, and performed at his first ever open mic night at eight years old. In middle school, he mastered the art of production and engineering, which led him to signing to music business veteran, Norbert Nix 's artist development and publishing enterprise, VISCYRL . Sawyer has written and produced music for major label artists and recognizable names such as Zach Hood , ROSIE , Bryant Barnes , Jacob Sartorius and many more. With his own solo artist journey, Sawyer released his debut single, "Nights Like This" in 2023, earning more than half a million streams on Spotify alone. • Review: "Closer to Heaven" - Empara Mi

Empara Mi has left listeners speechless after her release of "Closer To Heaven," a chillingly piercing track that has our hearts aching, yearning, and beating hopefully alongside hers. Masterfully capturing what it means to love wholly with your entire being, this song does not hold back. Empara Mi sings of being pushed to the edge and unapologetically daring to take the fall if it means growing one step "closer to heaven". Battling the internal torment, Mi sings that she would "drink an ocean" and drive "like a psycho right off the edge" to finally reach the place where the one she loves now rests. Mi constantly pushes her musical and artistic boundaries in a vulnerable act of trying to recover from loss, desperately lunging for a soul, even if she risks everything in the process. "Closer to Heaven" outlines the beauty in the innate humanity of longing, while also acknowledging destructive habits because they're human, too. With this track, Mi wears her heart on her sleeve, evoking a deep, guttural introspection that is impossible to ignore. "Closer to Heaven" is a song that embodies strength and sentimentality, and the emotional lyrics paired with Empara Mi's passionate delivery command equal attention on this track. Her dominant chest voice immediately grabs your focus at the song's forefront and only grows in poignancy and fervor. The pristine yet emotion-ridden belt she builds up to in the chorus is resounding; it sends goosebumps down your spine. She channels all of this emotion into impassioned belts that create a pure rush of adrenaline, elevating her exhilarating sound. The orchestral instrumentation complements Mi's energy, enhancing her refined sound while showcasing her explosive artistry. With each listen comes a different perspective, a new detail unlocked, and a fresh wave of emotion faced. "Closer To Heaven" is a timeless journey that expands and explores what it means to confront deeply our wounds and desires, all while spotlighting the intensity of Mi's raw expression . Empara Mi is a rare gem with an irreplaceable talent for song, sound, and storytelling. Encompassing a wide range of heavy themes like grief, religion, hope, and passion, Mi gets gritty and vulnerable in her distinctive fusion of indie, cinematic, and hip-hop influences. One of the elements that allows her work to stand apart from the crowd is her love and appreciation for the orchestral accompaniments, which amplify her signature soul-baring deliveries. Mi's debut album, "Suitcase Full of Sins," was a momentous release that garnered wide acclaim and solidified her as an industry force, with some songs finding their way onto Netflix screens. With a highly anticipated second album, "Monsters and Masochists," on the horizon, Empara Mi will continue to share her fearless spirit and devotional intensity with a world eager to hear her sound. • Review: "White Flag" - Devon Alexander

Relationships experience peaks that make you feel like you are on top of the world and valleys that can leave you with a deep sense of hopelessness. The climb is normal, as no healthy and communicative is without hurdles or disagreements. However, sometimes the peaks get lower and the valleys get deeper, and you know that you have to move on. This is what Devon Alexander illustrates beautifully in his track “White Flag.” Alexander paints a narrative portrait of the experience in having to face the music and end a relationship. Even when people want to continue fighting, sometimes you’re forced to wave the white flag. The introduction begins with an echoey ambience that is replaced by vocals that sound vulnerable and exposed over strums of a guitar. Alexander demonstrates his wide vocal range with his higher register in the pre-chorus. Drums pick up for the chorus adding energy to the song that serves to create a more devastating emotional impact. Throughout the track, Alexander sprinkles in beautiful vocal harmonies on top of the melody that further demonstrate his artistic prowess. In his song “White Flag,” Alexander blends musical intellect with an emotional awareness that connects on an intimate level with listeners everywhere. Devon Alexander is a singer-songwriter from Sonora, California. At the age of 23, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. He works primarily within the pop music genre, taking inspiration from artists such as Etta James, Dua Lipa, and Shawn Mendes. Alexander blends soul with modern pop in a delectably artistic manner. His initial mark was made as a Top 40 Finalist on season 18 of American Idol. Through his narrative genius and acclaimed musicality, Alexander will no doubt leave an impression on numerous listeners as he establishes his career through his brilliant artistry.  Written By Victoria Fitzgerald FOLLOW DEVON ALEXANDER: Instagram | Spotify
