  • Interview: "Games" - Night Acclaim

Q: ‘Games’ is so catchy! What is the story behind the song? Night Acclaim: If you know me, you know I like to write songs about my life experiences. I wrote Games after an indignant time in my life. Games is about putting yourself out there and being vulnerable, thinking they feel the same way. Sadly, to find out a month later they don't and were just using you for their advantage. Q: What was it like to work with Myah Marie? Night Acclaim: Working with Myah Marie was AMAZING! Myah is so talented and her voice is like that of an angel. She is one of the sweetest people I've ever worked with. I cannot wait to work with her again! Q: What is your favorite part about being a musician? Night Acclaim: My favorite part of being a musician is creating new music for people to connect to. Q: What instruments do you play? Which ones would you like to learn? Night Acclaim: I play the guitar, keyboard and drums. I started playing the guitar 10 years ago and then moved onto the keyboard and drums. I would love to learn how to play the bass guitar. Q: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be? Night Acclaim: If I could collaborate with any artist, it would be Betty Who. She is one of my favorite musicians who inspires me every step of the way. She is one of the hardest working musicians who really cares about what she is releasing and won't stop until everything is perfect. Q: What are you most looking forward to in terms of your musical career? Night Acclaim: Within the next year, I am looking forward to releasing new music, collaborating on more music with Myah Marie and Pretty Sister, and playing a live show. My dream is to play at the Stony Pony in Asbury Park NJ. Interviewed By Kendall Koval FOLLOW NIGHT ACCLAIM:

  • Review: "lesser degree" - Evan Sternbach

"lesser degree" by up-and-coming pop artist Evan Sternbach hooked me immediately. The track starts with some wiry guitar strums, quickly getting the listener's attention. This song feels like it should be playing on a popular radio station in the absolute best way possible. I love Sternbach's vocals on this indie-pop track. He is a talented vocalist, for sure. This break-up song is one of many, but it is told uniquely. You are still struggling, but as the days go on, you are beginning to think about this person less and less. A lesser degree, if you will. My first thoughts were that, sonically, this track reminds me of Shawn Mendes and Dermont Kennedy. This song tells a story about not being able to get over a past lover, no matter how hard you try or how much time passes. You're still infatuated with this person, reminiscing about how they were the only person you felt understood you in ways no one else ever could. You feel almost stupid and embarrassed by your feelings, about how you can't get this person out of your head, despite how long it's been. It's a relatable story, that's for certain. Evan Sternbach is a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia, PA. The twenty-one-year-old tells stories with his art, that being one of his primary motivations in this career path. The musician promotes his music on social media, primarily on his Instagram. While not writing songs, he spends his time at his bartending job. He has had a love for music for a while, beginning to post covers on his YouTube channel in 2020. Written By Emma Kimberli FOLLOW EVAN STERNBACH:

  • Interview: "haunted" - Clarissa Diokno

Congratulations on the release of your new single “haunted”!! You certainly achieved the creepy, cool vibe you were going for :) Can you share what the songwriting process was like for this track? Clarissa: Thank you so much, I'm really proud of this project. It all started on a dark, cold winter night in January 2022. I was sitting at my piano experimenting with chord progressions when I stumbled upon a pattern that emanated dark and eerie undertones. I was immediately inspired and started creating a vocal melody over it, which was basically a bunch of jumbled words that didn't really make sense. I began writing lyrics from the perspective of an ex-lover who is stalking their ex, and the story started coming together. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to lurking their exes on social media after a breakup, and I liked the idea of taking this concept and pushing it further. "haunted" is about trying to take up so much space in someone's mind until you're the only thing they think about. You're haunting them in their dreams. It's kind of a revenge song. It's like, you left me, and I'm going to make you regret it. Do you have a favorite performance you’ve ever done? Or a favorite venue you’ve performed at so far? Clarissa: Ooh, this is hard to answer! I've done so many performances, and I've had a lot of memorable ones. In terms of more recent performances, my favourite performance so far was this past August, outdoor in my city's town square. I work with an incredibly talented guitarist who accompanies my vocals at gigs, and we perform really well together. A lot of people stayed to watch and seemed to be really enjoying the show. Quite a few people came to chat with me afterwards and wanted to take photos with me, which was really cool and unexpected! There were good vibes all around! What can we expect from your music video coming out for this new single? Also, I hope you’re feeling better from your injury at the shoot!! Clarissa: Thank you, I appreciate that! Well, you can actually expect three music videos for "haunted". There will be an official music video, a performance based music video, and a lyric video. The official music video will showcase a couple very interesting characters in the form of puppets! I wanted to turn up the creep factor for this video and what better way to do that than to have puppets as the actors! The performance based music video will mostly be me singing to the camera and rocking out in a hotel and in front of a church at night. The lyric video is drone footage of me running on a long trail at night with the lyrics over the screen. This is actually where I injured my knee. I was running, and I had tripped over an elevated part of the sidewalk, and I fell. Though it hurts, I kind of find it hilarious. I think the last time I actually ran was when I was in elementary school doing track and field, which was a very, VERY long time ago. If you could choose any movie or TV show you think “haunted” could be included in, which would you pick and why? Clarissa: There are so many movies and TV shows that I think "haunted" could be included in. I could totally hear "haunted" in shows like You, Good Trouble, and Tell Me Lies, or any psychological thriller movies. It's actually a big goal of mine to get my music into TV, film, and commercials. I truly believe it will happen one day. What is on the top of your bucket list for your career? Clarissa: I really just want to find my people and build a community of lovely humans and supporters who love music, love my music, and embrace being themselves. I don't need to win a Grammy (although, one can dream); I just want to continue doing what I love to do and have a sustainable career doing it. It's all about the journey, baby! I want to make sure I enjoy every step of the way. Any upcoming projects you can talk about?! I am so excited to hear more from you!! :) Clarissa: I'm getting started on the planning stages of a debut 5-track EP. I don't want to give away too many details just yet, but I'm really excited to start working on a larger body of work and to let listeners in on more experiences I've had with love, life, and the internet over the past couple of years. I'll definitely keep you posted! Interviewed By Sarah Curry FOLLOW CLARISSA:

  • Review: "Sadie" - Jaime Deraz

Every now and then you’ll stumble across a song that manages to describe a story so vividly it’s as if you lived through its lyrics. Jaime Deraz’s latest single “Sadie” is one such example, retelling a heartfelt but painfully brief romantic encounter through an innovative electro-pop medium. Deraz’s lyrics leave you with a sense of longing, only sweetened by the encounter’s loose ends. “Sadie” opens with muted synth bass lines and background vocals that come into full clarity as Deraz’s voice pierces the veil, setting the scene of her intoxicating autumn romance. The lyrics speak about the aftermath of the encounter, “coming down from the high of each other” to talk about plans for the future. “Sadie” is the name Deraz bestows upon the mystery lover, and the song’s chorus touches on recollections of their time together before describing a longing to know more about her private stranger. The story’s romance is only heightened by the ethereal synth pads, sweet vocals, and energetic percussion that keeps your head nodding till the very end. • Interview: "Heal Me" - MOREA

Your new single “Heal Me” is so incredibly captivating, I can’t stop listening to it! What is the story behind this new track? MOREA: Thank you! I wrote the song when I felt like I wanted to give all responsibility of living to someone else, I wanted someone to chose what i wear, to tell me how to be a good person, who to trust, what to do with my life. Since you are the daughter of a musician, have you always known music was something you wanted to pursue? MOREA: All I remember is that I always wanted to be singer, there were phases where I thought for a few months I could become a psychologist or something else, but to be honest since I started admitting to myself that its music, and it has always been, what I wanted to do and that I will put all my energy into the goal of making the music that I like and become better at my instruments and build my voice I am getting happier. I struggle(d) a lot with the meaning of life, feeling useless and being scared of the future or regretting the past. But admitting what i really wanted and working for that made a massive difference in my over all happiness and well-being! Can you take us through what your songwriting process looks like? MOREA: I get that asked a lot and I really don’t know the answer, it is as individual as the song itself. Sometimes it starts with a word or a phrase, sometimes it starts with a melody, sometimes with chords on the piano and sometimes with chords or a riff on the guitar. Sometimes it takes 1 hour and some songs took me years. Heal me started with me experimenting on the guitar, finding a melody that I really liked and putting a whole song together in just 1 or two days. A friend of mine wrote a Bassline on that and this directed the song in a whole other way. What would you say is the best album of all time? An album that has no skips and you can listen straight through! MOREA: That I don’t skip songs in a album is rare, but The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd is one where I can’t skip, not even one. Also Plastic Love and A Friend by Say Yes Dog gets me every time! If you could play a show at any venue or city in the world, where would you pick and why? MOREA: I think my hometown would be a really nice Debut. I would love to play a small concert in Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin or Zitadelle Spandau in summer for example. But to be honest it doesn’t really matter, I just want to play! Any upcoming projects you can talk about?! I’m so impressed by your talent, and I can’t wait to hear what else you have in store for the world! MOREA: Thank you again!! There is actually something really exciting coming! I am going to release an Ep in december, we were recording with the vest band ever, filming music videos and just planning this whole thing the last month and now it is finally going to see the light of the world. • “Wildflower” - Thomas Day

Thomas Day’s “Wildflower” is by far one of the best feel-good anthems of the year. It talks about raising your spirit and carrying on. No matter how happy and glamorous our life can seem on the outside, we still all experience pain. “Wildflower” helps us feel less alone knowing we’re not isolated in that feeling. It offers a fresh new sentiment that gives us the courage to empower ourselves. Thomas’ sound throughout this track is reminiscent of a sunny spring day, following along with the motif of the title “Wildflower.” The moment the verse drops into the chorus is undoubtedly one of my favorite moments throughout this song. It encaptures the essence of relief and makes me feel like a weight is lifted off my shoulder. Being ranked one of America’s top football prospects, Thomas Day spends his time writing new music and playing the piano. He gained attention by being on season 15 of America’s Got Talent. In 2019 he joined Tik Tok, quickly gaining over five million followers and 66 million likes. Written By Brielle Pattillo FOLLOW THOMAS DAY:

  • Interview: "Tonight Contigo" - Ariel Rose

Congratulations on the release of your new single, Tonight Contigo!! What was your inspiration for writing this new track? Ariel Rose: Thank you so much! My inspiration for this song came from my own experiences. I recently released my Tropical Visual EP, In Paraíso, and learned a lot from that process. This is my first release since my EP and I wanted my next song to be fun but also show my evolution as an artist. “Tonight Contigo” is a sexy, fun and fresh sound that mixes pop and trap with a latin beat. It features English lyrics and some Spanish phrases that talk about being hesitant to settle down until finding the person who changes that. The song is about a powerful woman who goes after what she wants but guards her heart. When she finally finds someone she's interested in, she decides she wants to be with that person and explore the possibilities. Can you take us through what your songwriting process looks like? Ariel Rose: I collaborated on this song with Mike Munoz and Gio Fernandez, known for working with Prince Royce, and other notable artists. The songwriting process is always special to each song, but in this case, I had a clear idea of what I wanted and we were able to work together to create something that we are really proud of! I love the music video for this new single!! Any favorite memories or funny stories you want to share from the shoot? Ariel Rose: Thank you! Filming the music video was such an exciting process. I particularly loved the team of people I was working with and the four looks were really fun to create. We went with a retro glam look for this video and we wanted a very over the top and luxurious feel.Filming day was very long and we filmed the video in Miami during the rainy season, so we were very concerned with the weather, as it was getting quite cloudy. We were just praying that it wouldn’t rain! It actually started pouring for the night about 30 minutes after we wrapped up filming so I feel like we dodged a bullet with that one! If you could be the opener for any artist in the world, who would you pick and why? Ariel Rose: I absolutely love Ricky Martin. I grew up listening to his albums on repeat so opening for him would be an incredible feeling. I also love Carlos Vives and would be so honored to open for him as well! We have some amazing artists in Miami and being able to collaborate with any of them would be incredible. What are some of your favorite hobbies to do when you’re not making music? Ariel Rose: I am an avid poetry writer. I love reading poetry, writing poetry, and I’ve actually been working on my very first poetry book that I hope to publish within the next year. I also enjoy baking and painting. I really love doing anything that involves creativity! What can we expect next from you?! After listening to your stuff, I am so excited to see what’s next for you!! KTEE bares her heart out to her listeners with new single “The One”. With excellent lyrics, vocals, and production, KTEE kills it and creates a fun upbeat pop song which everyone can enjoy. In contrast, the lyrics are a little somber as KTEE reflects on a past relationship that wasn’t the healthiest and left KTEE in ruins. • Review: "You Make Bad Things Not Suck" - Meg Smith

As the title insinuates, Meg Smith's latest single is about enjoying the presence of someone so enthusiastically that even the mundane seems not so bad. "You Make Bad Things Not Suck" describes the parts of life we all dread, such as traffic or poor weather, and how sharing these parts of life with a cherished significant other can change your outlook on these frustrating moments. What was once an extra 30-minute drive alone on the freeway can become another half hour to make memories with someone you deeply care about. The song sweetly portrays the artist's shift from the day-to-day thoughts of a pessimist to someone enjoying every minute of every day. The artistic style of Meg Smith is a combination of the 00's girly pop aesthetic reincarnated with a matured Olivia Rodrigo twist. The intro guitar paired with the little 'Da da da das' as well as a reference made to Ashton Kutcher in the TV show "Punk'd" pays a major homage to the early 2000's. Smith transitions her voice throughout the song from a delicate tone to an intensely passionate one, not only showcasing her range but also following the musical and lyrical flow of the single. Upbeat and easily relatable, the song is easy listening for those nostalgic for the 2000's but also craving a modernized sound. Inspired by her love of 00's rom-coms, Meg Smith's music has a nostalgic pop sound that simultaneously presents as emotional and carefree. The Brooklyn-based artist has been writing songs since she was just 12 and began playing various cafes around LA in her teen years. Now, her music is reflective of her life as a 20-something living and making music in New York. Smith has actively been releasing music to stream since 2020, with her single "Cross My Heart I Hope U Die" reaching almost 5 million streams on Spotify. Written By Zewdi Cass FOLLOW Meg Smith:
