- Review: "People Pleaser" - Nieri
As we go through life, we change every single day not just with our views on certain things but how we act and how we look. There is so much that we change about ourselves in order to fit into society's norms. Whether it’s for a new friend group, for family to view you as older or stronger or simply because we don’t recognize ourselves anymore. No matter what the thought process is we find ourselves never being able to be our true selves. We are constantly changing for others while hurting ourselves at the same time. If we can't be who we are around family or friends whatever the case may be then are those people really for us? “People Pleaser” by Nieri is a track that not only makes you think about who you are but also to stop changing yourself for those who aren’t worthy. “People Pleaser” begins with such an ear catching sound. I was immediately drawn in with how unique but euphoric the sound was. I can only describe it as the volume on a radio going up and down but with so much intensity to it. I thought the steady rhythm paired amazingly with his strong voice. He sang so peacefully but with so much devotion at the same time and not to mention how outstanding his vocal range was. Especially towards the end, you could hear just how much soul he poured into this track. I seriously could not get enough of it! Nieri is a singer/songwriter who was born in Milan, Italy but now resides in Los Angeles, California. Since 2022 with his first single released titled “Beautiful Music” he has been killing the music industry with his remarkable sound. While his music fits under the dance pop genre there is also a well-crafted blend of life experiences throughout his brand-new song. “People Pleaser” is such an infectious track with so many relatable lyrics, I highly recommend giving this song a listen. Be sure to follow his social medias below as well and stay tuned for his next release! - Review: "Fiona" - sav.
"Fiona" is sure to be one of the summer's hottest songs, sav. offers us a new perspective on what it means to be the 'it' girl. The whole basis of the song is set around changing the face of modern day society's 'it girl.' My favorite part of the song is the end, because it leaves us hopeful for the future. We gain reassurance from the artist when the lyrics say, "Cliche, coming of age / Small town girl in a big cityscape / It's okay to make mistakes / Right now while you're finding your way." Hearing these lyrics is like taking in a breath of fresh air. We know that it's okay to live our own way even if that means we have to learn from a few mistakes. One message the song conveys that I love the most is to walk with your head held high. The chorus says, "Fiona, you're the new kind of it girl / Hasn't anyone told ya, you're where we want to be / Fiona, you better be proud / Look at you grown up, living the dream." If you work hard for what you want in this life you will recieve it, and other people could very well be inspired by the way you went about achieving those things. Song's of the summer should, for the most part, always be upbeat and energetic and "Fiona" has no problem meeting that requirement. Right away we're given an upbeat, energetic song that allows us to tap along as we listen. The tone is warm and sincere which helps make the mood evoke deep and nostalgic feelings. There's numerous instruments that bleed throughout the song. From the keyboard, to guitar and even slight hints of piano, we're given a chance to experience all of it. "Fiona" has been so beautifully crafted that when all of these elements come together it allows the lyrics to flow seamlessly. sav. is an indie pop artist and singer-songwriter based out of Nashville, Tennessee. The vibe of her music can vary from upbeat and energetic tracks to heartwrenching love ballads. Having years of classical vocal training under her belt, she incorporates powerhouse lyrics into her music. sav. has been putting out singles since 2022 along with her debut EP last October. She is soon to hit her acoustic tour in the midwest and east cost. Her electric stage presence and performing skills make her shows even more captivating. Make sure you give "Fiona" a listen before summer is in full swing. Written By Destiny Rundquist FOLLOW sav.: Instagram | Spotify
- Review: "Had A Heart" - KAT MARCELLA
The word “heart” gains a new meaning in the single “Had a Heart” by KAT MARCELLA . The song’s title means having a significant other, and complications of a love triangle become the core of the lyrics. Marcella was in a relationship with someone, but happened to fall for someone else who just got broken up with. However, Marcella did not want to leave the relationship she was in, so she only stayed friends with the person she was secretly in love with. Eventually, she realized that her feelings were reciprocated when her crush began to show signs that they had fallen for her as well. This was the precursor to the end of Marcella’s relationship. “Had a Heart” is an alt-pop song with guitar chords on the forefront. The production carries chill vibes throughout, and is reminiscent of lo-fi and easy-listening music, but with trap elements. Alongside these components, the reverberated synths and instruments add another layer that is of the indie pop genre. Listening to this song is the perfect way to spend the time in the period between spring and summer. You can just imagine you and your friends going out to the dock during sunset when the sky is a swirl of pastel colors that reflect off the lake that you all go swimming in. This is such a lovely song, which is supported even more by Marcella’s amazing vocals. KAT MARCELLA is a music artist from Brooklyn, New York. - Review: "Forgot To Love You" - BERENICE
“Forgot To Love You” by BERENICE details an unhealthy relationship that one partner wants to make work while the other doesn’t because they know it won’t last. The love they have for one another is faltering, that is if it still exists. More and more proof gets brought to light everyday that they are not a match, including BERENICE’s partner being toxic. Then, it doesn’t make sense to her when partner wants to continue their relationship, despite it being obvious that they aren’t working out at all. Her partner adds another level of toxicity to themselves when they act like they don't understand why she doesn’t love them back, a ludicrous mindset when they’re the cruel force driving them apart. The song begins with just a slow guitar and whispering vocals from BERENICE. After the first chorus, she contributes a full singing voice as a heavy bass flows into the background. As the song advances, the guitars become more distorted, and her vocals become even more powerful with emotion, adding another poignant element to “Forgot To Love You”. The song then falls into an electric guitar solo, making the song switch from pop to alternative, also making the single genre-bending. With BERENICE credited as the songwriter and one of the two producers, it’s without a doubt she’s a musical genius, especially when it comes to these genres. BERENICE is a music artist from Italy and is based in London, England. She began her music career in August 2024 with the release of her debut single “Little Red Heart”. She has been named in several music publications, including but not limited to Rolling Stone and she has also been recognized by BBC Radio . She has big plans for her music career, one of them being her first of three upcoming EPs, and she just performed live at the Folklore Hoxton in London for the Nashley Summer Tour on May 20, 2025, and there shall be more live performances in the future. - Review: "True Nature" - Ella Eliza
“True Nature” by Ella Eliza is about finding someone who has qualities that you truly admire, as well as ones that you share with them. Eliza believes she’s been involved with the wrong crowd for a while, and notices this when she meets someone new that she feels confident and sure about confiding in. Being with them makes her want to leave her old unhealthy lifestyle behind and pursue a new one, where she doesn’t make mistakes or waste her time on unworthy people, and instead spends time with those who actually care about her and what she has to say. She knows she’s not meant to live a life where she feels lonely, but instead live one where she feels accepted and loved. The production and instrumentation of this song are filled with funky vibes all throughout, like it's a step up from easy listening, with a mix of contemporary pop. This is supplemented by the guitar chords that flow through with the raw drums and small riffs that can be heard in the background. The beat isn’t the main focus of the production, but rather the other instruments. putting more of an emphasis on them while still matching the beat at the same time. “True Nature” sounding like a classic alternative pop song but is simultaneously creative and original shows that this song was expertly produced. Eliza also has amazing vocals, which add on to the chill vibes of the single. Ella Eliza is a versatile music artist from Germany and is based in West London, England. She began her music career in January 2018 with the release of her debut single “Like I Can’t Breathe”. Since then, she has released other amazing music in addition to her debut and “True Nature”, such as her songs “Sinner and Saint” and “Imma Do Me”, as well as her EPs INTROSPECTION and I Wonder How It Will All Play Out , where "True Nature" is a track. - EP Review: "I Didn't See It Coming" - EEVAH
Halifax based Indie/Alternative trio, EEVAH, has just dropped their sophomore EP, "I Didn't See It Coming", calling it their most personal and truthful work to date . TRACKLIST I Didn't See It Coming I Still Think Of You Lullaby If It Ain't You The Girl In My Head (Bonus Track) Nicole Hope Smith (vocals and bass), Fay Clayton (drums), and Richard McNamara (guitar) make up the 3-piece band EEVAH. Reigning from Halifax in West Yorkshire, England, EEVAH first debuted in 2018 with the single "Can't Breathe", but really gained traction last year (2024) with their first ever EP "Simplify Life", which led them to also selling out their first headlining UK tour. EEVAH blends anthemic indie pop and energetic, nostalgic rock with synths and hints of folk to create emotional and atmospheric musical experiences. They take inspiration from the likes of a variety of beloved artists such as The National , Wolf Alice , The XX , HAIM and London Grammar . In light of their success, EEVAH has gone on to support major names on the stage like Everything Everything , Duran Duran , Corella , and We Are Scientists . They've also been featured on BBC 's Radio 1 , 6music and BBC Introducing . With their newly released second EP, "I Didn't See It Coming", EEVAH plans on taking a bigger step when it comes to connecting with their audience. Let's dive into these tracks to see what they have in store! I Didn't See It Coming We kick off the EP with the title track, "I Didn't See It Coming", a dreamy rock ballad. This song is about being blind-sided by someone and just trying to make sense of it all. You try to come up with ways that you can fix the situation but nothing is working; so instead you're just left alone, wondering what you did wrong. When talking about creating the sound for this song, guitarist Richard McNamara (who you may also recognize from his band Embrace ), spoke about how he wanted to try and keep EEVAH separate from the style he uses with his other band. However, after a night of watching YouTube videos of other artists being inspired by his sound, he realized that "if anyone’s allowed to sound like Embrace, it’s me". "I Didn't See It Coming" the song particularly has an Embrace essence to it's soundscape, with smooth electric guitar riffs through out the whole song. With a light, syncopated melodic rhythm and a melancholic tone, this song is a great start to the project. I Still Think Of You Next, we have "I Still Think Of You", which is the leading single off of the EP. This song is highly emotional; and although personal, very relatable to many. "I Still Think Of You" was written by Nicole after losing her grandma in the midst of her deepest grief. There's themes of family conflict and guilt, but beyond that all, it comes back to just thinking about her grandma and not being able to shake the fact that she's gone. "I Still Think Of You" burns slow but in the best way. There's a soft drum beat, shimmering guitar, mournful piano and of course, hauntingly stunning vocals. When we reach the end, we get an unexpected burst of painful emotion that takes over. Just be prepared, because it is a tear-jerking moment. Lullaby "Lullaby" is an addictingly haunting cinematic experience about night terrors and the things that keep us awake. Have you ever woken up in a sudden panic, drenched in sweat and your heart is racing? The adrenaline and anxiety now has you lying awake, alone in the dark with your biggest fears and looming thoughts. Sometimes we have to find a sense of comfort to force ourselves back to sleep. In this songs case, it's seeing the break of day and hearing the birds start to sing, acting as a sort of lullaby. You can finally take a deep breath and find peace in knowing you can go back to sleep and get the rest you need and deserve. "Lullaby" has a stomping beat, with atmospheric blends of guitars and reverb. The bass is heavy with a groove that's hard not to move to, and there's cathartic layers of harmonies that really bring everything together. If It Ain't You Technically acting as the closing track, we have "If It Ain't You", a heartbreaking but strong soft rock ballad. This song is filled with defeat and hopelessness over a clearly broken and unmendable relationship; but despite that, there's something telling you that there's no one else on this Earth that could be the one. There's forever this tiny little piece of thread that attaches you to them, making it hard to let go, no matter how catastrophic the relationship gets. There's a beautiful simplicity to the instrumentation in this song that allows the emotional melody and poetic lyricism to take over. The Girl In My Head (Bonus Track) Although not currently available on streaming as I'm writing this, there is a bonus track for this EP that you can listen to on EEVAH's Patreon titled "The Girl In My Head"! This song is about all the pain women keep inside with the way we're expected to act and look. We're supposed to keep our thoughts to ourselves, and always be "pretty"; but no one knows what really goes on inside of our heads, and how that effects our mental health. This song has a slow, dreamy groove that is a little bit reminiscent of the 1950's with whimsical, ethereal and dissonant guitar riffs. There is no doubt in my mind that EEVAH is taking over the indie music scene and they're only going to get bigger from here. They're already selling out headline shows like it's nothing, and I'm just so excited for them to take that leap and come overseas. "I Didn't See It Coming" the EP is a flawless project with meaningful, emotionally fulfilling tracks made by passionate performers that deserve to be heard. EEVAH is only getting started and I absolutely can't wait to see where they go and what they do next. Make sure to follow them below to keep up on their journey, and I'd highly suggest trying to catch them at a show if you have the chance. - Pop Icon Spotlight: The Best of Cher
Dubbed the "Goddess of Pop," Cher has been an influential figure in pop culture with a career that spans over six decades. The American singer rose to fame in 1965, performing as part of the folk-rock duo Sonny & Cher and earning some solo top ten singles like "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)." In the 70s, she began topping the US Billboard Hot 100 with narrative pop tracks like "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves" and "Dark Lady." After switching her focus to acting, Cher reemerged in a hair metal style with the highly successful albums Cher (1987), Heart of Stone (1989), and Love Hurts (1991). She switched gears again in 1998 with her album Believe , reaching a commercial peak as she embraceddance-pop and introduced her signature stylized use of auto-tune to distort her vocals. Truly an icon in the pop world, Cher is one of the best-selling artists in history, amassing an estimated 100 million records sold globally. Among her many achievements, she is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, the only solo artist with number one singles on the US Billboard charts in seven consecutive decades, and has received a Grammy, and Emmy, and the Billboard Icon Award. Though it is impossible to encapsulate such a prolific career in one article, here are some of our favorite Cher songs in our "Pop Icon Spotlight: The Best of Cher." 10. "DJ Play a Christmas Song" The lead single from her 2023 Christmas album, Cher's "DJ Play a Christmas Song" brings an infectious dance-pop twist to the holiday. The track has an upbeat, vibrant soundscape, featuring Cher's deep, powerful vocals, dazzling synths, and unforgettable melodies. Rightfully so, "DJ Play a Christmas Song" earned Cher her first Billboard Hot 100 in 21 years, peaking at number 90. If you've ever craved a song similar to "Believe" but make it Christmas, then "DJ Play a Christmas Song" is a must-listen. 9. "All I Really Want to Do" Cher's debut single, "All I Really Want to Do" was released in May of 1965 and was included on her first studio album of the same name. The track was originally written and recorded by Bob Dylan in 1964 and was covered by Cher after she heard The Byrds perform it during their pre-fame residency at Ciro's nightclub in March 1965. It was a huge success for Cher, earning her a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 15. 8. "Super Trouper" Part of the soundtrack for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again , "Super Trouper" was released in July of 2018 and is one of Cher's current top songs on Spotify. The track is a cover of Swedish pop group ABBA's hit song and is performed by the whole main cast of the film, which includes Cher. 7. "Walking in Memphis" Originally written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Marc Cohn , Cher breathed new life into "Walking in Memphis" in 1995. The track was released as part of her 21st studio album, It's a Man's World , serving as the album's lead single in the UK. Though the song was not as successful in the US, Cher's version of "Walking in Memphis" debuted at number 11 on the UK Singles chart and is a gorgeous version of the popular pop-rock song. 6. "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)" Another fun cover, Cher's version of "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)" was recorded for the soundtrack of her 1990 film, Mermaids . The track was originally written by Rudy Clark and recorded by Merry Clayton in 1963, later being covered by several artists before Cher's 1990 release. It was a huge hit for Cher, earning her a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 33 and her first solo number one single on the UK charts. 5. "I Got You Babe" One of the most famous songs by Sonny & Cher, "I Got You Babe" is a folk-rock and pop track that served as the first single from the duo's debut studio album, Look At Us . It was released in July of 1965 and spent three weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in August of the same year. A huge commercial success for the artists, "I Got You Babe" sold more than one million copies in the US and was certified Gold by the RIAA while also reaching number one in the UK and Canada. 4. "Half-Breed" One of the artist's more profound works, "Half-Breed" was written by Al Capps and Mary Dean and was recorded by Cher in 1973. The pop track features a narrative that tackles themes of racism and double standards, describing the life of a girl who faces oppression and societal rejection due to having a Cherokee mother and white father. Intended for the American market, "Half-Breed" hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Cher her second solo number one hit in the US. The hit was certified Gold in 1974, selling over 1 million copies. 3. "Just Like Jesse James" Coming from her 19th studio album, "Just Like Jesse James" was released in 1989 as the third North American and second European single from Heart of Stone . The track is an epic pop-rock power ballad, featuring Cher's powerhouse vocals and lush instrumentals. "Just Like Jesse James" was another commercial hit for the artist, peaking at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming Cher's third top ten single from Heart of Stone in the US. Though it might not be one of Cher's favorite songs, it remains to be a fan favorite as it is currently one of her top songs on Spotify. 2. "Believe" The artist's most successful single and one the best-selling singles in history, it's safe to say that "Believe" is one of the first tracks you think of when you think of Cher. Released as the lead single from Cher's 22nd studio album of the same name, "Believe" saw an artist reborn in 1998 as Cher departed from her previous music and dove headfirst into dance-pop/electropop. The track serves as an anthem for the broken hearted, incorporating themes of empowerment and self-sufficiency after a breakup. 1. "If I Could Turn Back Time" Another signature Cher song, "If I Could Turn Back Time" is an iconic pop-rock/soft-rock power ballad from the artist's 19th studio album, Heart of Stone . The track was released as the album's lead single in 1989 and is considered to be one of Cher's greatest hits. It peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the artist's first number one hit in Australia. "If I Could Turn Back Time" has been performed on seven of Cher's concert tours and continues to be a fan favorite to this day as it has reached over 358 million streams on Spotify. - Review: "How to Be Alone" - Kat Brix
Filmed by: CK Films "How to Be Alone" is the newest single from Kat Brix, a song about trying to leave the nightlife lifestyle and commit to one person. Brix wants to be in a committed relationship, but doesn't know how to start, as she has been used to hookups and flings, which has been her safety net in terms of romantic connections with others. She only wants to either be dating someone or have a fling, as she doesn't want to be alone, as the song's title references. She doesn't want her safety net to just be having flings, and she wants to get out of her comfort zone by finding someone to be in a relationship with. Influences of nightcore and electronica are found throughout "How to Be Alone". Alongside additions of sound effects and vocal sampling comes incredible melodies and the whispering reverbed strums of a guitar, making the production very creative and distinct to all other kinds of music. Brix also has an amazing and striking singing voice, which goes with the fast-paced choruses and toned-down verses. Between the fills of hyperpop vibes are moments where some of the production elements and layers are removed to create a distant sound amongst a beat of a different tempo, making this song perfect to listen to in a nightclub, further worldbuilding with the lyrics of the song. Kat Brix is a music artist from Denmark. She has been working on beginning her music career for a few years, and in January 2025 released her debut single "In Love With a Psycho". Saint Kid has released his new song, “Kids Again.” Looking back on a failed relationship, Saint Kid wishes to go back, not only to return to his past lover but to also retain the innocence of a young relationship. Saying that “[they] won’t be kids again with someone new,” the experience of the relationship lingers on his mind. Fighting for the relationship or leaving it be in hopes his partner returns on their own? It's a hopeless decision, one that Saint Kid feels like "[he] can't choose" on. - Review: "Boyfriend" - Belle Tatum
In her second single, Belle Tatum's release of "Boyfriend" mixes her self-described a esthetic of "the 60s, the candid angst of the 70s, and the opulent glamour of the 80s." Her storytelling ability takes the show with this single, escaping into a world of love triangles and passion. Following a compelling narrative, this single showcases the beautiful and innate writing of Belle's lyricism. Each v erse reveals another layer of emotional complexity, drawing listeners deeper into the story. Belle’s ability to showcase vulnerability and strength in her lyrics makes “Boyfriend” a hit. With the combined nostalgia and refreshing taste, Belle Tatum is a new artist to watch in the pop scene. The musical composition of this piece gives the lyrics balance to flow in a musical chronological fashion. Because Belle Tatum's Taylor Swift-inspired narrative shines brightly, the production gives power without overwhelming the song. It ebbs and flows gracefully but in a tasteful and complementary fashion. The soft guitar riffs and steady drumbeat create a strong foundation for the vocals. Subtle background harmonies add depth without distracting from the main melody. The use of light synths brings a modern twist to the vintage feel. Overall, the production supports the emotion of the lyrics, making the story even more impactful. Based out of Nashville, Belle Tatum is a singer/songwriter originally from Olympia, Washington. This rigorously trained pop star has long been passionate about stage performing and all things music since she was 7 years old. - Review: "Don't Call Me No More" - KUSHYKUSH
If you are looking for an upbeat track that displays messages of self-control and power, then KUSHYKUSH’s newest single “Don’t Call Me No More” is for you. Relationships are inevitable to be repeated no matter the history or issues it had before. As individuals grow love for one another and issues take place we often look past those issues and think of the positive. This leaves us wanting and hoping the other person has changed this time around. But we are often failed by our thoughts and belief in the other. We get so caught in how amazing they are but fail to remember it only lasts so long. “Don’t Call Me No More” is such a strong track that reminds us we have the power to leave those behind who don’t deserve us. “Don’t Call Me No More” opens with a catchy guitar instrumental tone that catches your attention instantly. I enjoyed all the sounds in this track as they gave the feel for a compelling mood. The instruments and sounds also made the track super influential as they were steady and strong throughout. Their voice was also so electrifying with the most vulnerable and real lyrics. I really loved how this song overall took a hard topic and emotion and turned it into something so forceful. While the track was upbeat, I feel like those elements really made it super relatable and something anyone who listens to can resonate with. KUSHYKUSH is a singer/songwriter from London, United Kingdom. They released their debut album May 1, 2025, titled “Don’t Call Me No More.” This track explores the hard truth that no matter how terrible an ex-partner feels it’s never an excuse to go back. - Review: "Shadows" - Georgi
Teaming up with songwriter/producer Rob Wells, producer/mixer Dave "Rave" Ogilvie, and multi-instrumentalist/producer Anthony "Fu" Valcic, goth pop icon Georgi has released her latest single, "Shadows." The track reflects on the pains of lost love and growing up through the lens of being young in a world that's falling apart. Shedding light on the inspiration behind the song, Georgi shares, "Shadows is a song I wrote about heartbreak, youth, and not understanding the world. There’s a lot of emotion and rawness in it. I see it as a bridge — musically and emotionally — from where I’ve been to where I’m going." Blending electropop with dark wave, Georgi's "Shadows" embodies the moodier side of pop as the artist pushes sonic boundaries past her usual post-punk/synthwave sound. The track's ominous soundscape is equal parts biting and captivating, featuring a mix of haunting synths, pulsing beats, and intoxicating melodies. A notable composition under Georgi's belt, "Shadows" features an interpolation of Depeche Mode’s "It’s No Good," approved by one of the band's founding members, Martin Gore. As the track draws inspiration from 2000s pop with influence from 80s/90s industrial music, it'd be no surprise if fans of Depeche Mode, The Cure , Crystal Castles , and early Grimes instantly fell in love with "Shadows" and Georgi. Finding her passion for music at an early age, Georgi began singing and writing songs at the age of 5. She formed several bands throughout her childhood, continuing to hone her skills until high school. Georgi eventually went to college, enrolling in business school in New York, later transferring to Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. During this time, COVID-19 shifted classes online, leading Georgi to rediscover her musical roots and pursue her music career full-time in 2021. Since then, Georgi has been busy making a name for herself, playing in venues like The Brooklyn Mirage, Area 15 Las Vegas, and Future Factory LA, and amassing over 150 gigs in her first year. She has supported iconic EDM artists like ARTBAT , Eli & Fur , Charlotte de Witte , and The Chainsmokers , making Georgi a rising artist to keep an eye on.
