  • "Don't Care" by Amy Lensson

Let's face it, we've all tried to be someone we're not. We all want to look like this perfect person who has a perfect life. But behind our TikTok videos and filtered Instagram photos, we all have struggles to face. In Amy Lensson's 'Don't Care' is a realization that perfect is impossible, and we should just live our lives as who we are. "Wanted you to see inside my fabricated paradise, nothing's ever gonna be enough." 'Don't Care' is asking us what would life be like if we didn't care how other people see us? "What if we lived like we don't care?". Wouldn't it be a perfect world if what other's thought of us, didn't matter? The moral of this song is to be yourself! Everyone has issues, what's the point of hiding who you really are inside? We push ourselves way too hard. What others may see as a success, we may see as a failure. The fact of matter is, no one is perfect and we shouldn't have to push ourselves to be something more. Amy's lyricism in this song couldn't get any more relatable. Not only that, but they are delivered so well with Amy's soft and smooth vocal tone. Amy really puts us in her shoes as someone who is battling themselves inside about the best way to live their life. Amy's vocals paired with an ear-pleasing guitar and incredibly catchy beat, this song is bound to captivate anyone who listens to it. Amy is a pop singer/songwriter from Israel. She uses music as her outlet for her inner demons. She takes experiences she's had and turns them into a musical masterpiece. Just like her debut single 'Euphoria', 'Don't Care' has managed to pass over 100,000 total streams and has caught the attention of many young music lovers. We're looking forward to seeing what's next in her musical journey! Written By Kaitlyn Nicole FOLLOW AMY:

  • Interview: "Mayhem" by Molly Aisha

Q: Congratulations on the release of ‘Mayhem’! Can you share the story behind this song? Molly: Thank you! The song is about feeling stuck in a dark place and having a lot on your shoulders, but feeling too afraid to reach out for help. Q: What first got you into music? Molly: It started with a passion for singing which came around the age of three, a core memory being singing along to 'Don't Know Why' by Norah Jones at the top of my lungs. The drive to start songwriting then came after learning the basics of piano at the age of ten, but not having the patience to learn full pieces and just wanting to make my own melodies instead. Q: Who are your biggest music influences? Molly: I take huge inspiration from Birdy, Lana Del Rey and Sia. Q: What is your go-to karaoke song? Molly: It's hard to pick just one, but I'll have to go with 'That Don't Impress Me Much' by Shania Twain. Q: If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would you pick and why? Molly: I think Tokyo would be a really exciting place to perform. Their fandom culture and concerts seem pretty crazy from what I've heard, and to be in Japan would be an incredible experience in itself! Q: We can’t wait to hear more from you! What can we expect next? Molly: I have some exciting collaborations coming up, including plans to have an artist feature on my next release, which should be on your screens mid springtime. Until then, my social media will remain active where I'll carry on sharing my covers and songwriting with the world, so stay tuned! Written By Sarah Curry FOLLOW MOLLY:

  • "Girl with a Gun" by SHNO

Love should go both ways, but when their promises of forever end up empty, you have every right to become a lightning bolt of rage. ‘Girl with a Gun’ by SHNO is the power-producing track that’ll give you the ammo to retaliate! You don’t have to take the BS they come up with. Instead, you can hold them accountable when their actions don’t match their words. Or if you’re fully committed to each other, don’t let them push your buttons. You’ve got influence in the relationship too. Don’t let them take it! “Don’t promise me nothing at all; watch your back cuz I’m a girl with a gun.” It’s like murder mystery meets forbidden romance because if you cross the line, you’ll never see the light of day again. This self-validating narrative is honest about love, yet also unafraid to pull the trigger. It’s this energy in the song that’s self-empowering and incredibly persuasive. SHNO’s dark, vivid vocals amplify the ravishing villain arc that the song takes us through. An electronic blare at the end of phrases provides a surprise EDM accent piece to the valiant pop melody! The recording artist from London has a clear knack for indie pop music. SHNO released her first song ‘Forever’ all the way back in 2010. In 2021, 'Girl with a Gun’ became the 2nd single off the artist’s new EP. She has performed worldwide in venues such as Bitter End Club, Wall Street and the World Trade Center. If you like artists who can demonstrate versatility both within and outside of their genre, you’ll LOVE SHNO! Written By Kevin Rodriguez FOLLOW SHNO:

  • Interview: "In Hell" by Commoncranes

Q: “In Hell” is such a beautiful song! What is the story behind it? Commoncranes: Aw thank you! We wrote ‘In Hell’ just at the beginning of our work together in 2018, the song got released in October 21. Chris started some chords on keys and I followed with some very simple words portraying a woman who is not afraid of her vulnerability, fighting for love through tears and determination and that comes with strength. Of course with Chris being the ultimate drummer of our small band, the drama was built very quickly. Q: When did you start making music together? Commoncranes: We started throwing ideas to each other back in 2018 and we couldn’t believe how much in common our music sense was. So very soon after, we recorded our first song “Left to say” which has just been released. The pandemic of course delayed our journey slightly, but we kept fiercely motivated and found some new roots of writing other songs which we can’t wait to release soon. Q: You have such a unique sound. Who are some of your biggest music influences? Commoncranes: Sweet hearing that :) Ani comes from a pop background, she grew up listening and singing pieces from 90s pop divas, whilst I as a northern guy have of course been playing mainly in rock bands, although my soft side comes from listening to country music and from having an unforgettable experience in Nashville. So we both have our separate influences and backgrounds, but as a band we are inspired by phenomenal bands that combine our music influences such as ‘Paramore’ ‘Florence + The Machine’, ‘No Doubt’, Coldplay, 'Fleetwood Mac’, ‘Wolf Alice’, ‘London Grammar’, and so more. Q: If you could open a show for any artist, who would you pick and why? Commoncranes: Any of the band names mentioned above would have been a dream to open the show for, but we love music and so we love many artists who we would have been incredibly lucky to be picked up by. Q: How do you spend your time when you’re not performing or writing new music? Commoncranes: Well we both have created our own little families and we spend a lot of time with them. We often organise family meetings which keeps us closer and motivated, with them being our main supporters. Chris and I have founded our own little studios in Cheshire where we coach our instruments from, a dream job that keeps us always connected to music and people. Q: What can we expect next from you? We can’t wait to hear more! Commoncranes: We are looking forward to playing our songs live and making up for the days that we missed during the pandemic. We then want to get back in the studio for some finishing details of the songs we’ve been writing so far. We’ll bring more drama of course and some more simple messages that we hope will connect with people or inspire them. Written By Sarah Curry FOLLOW COMMONCRANES:

  • Interview: "Ordinary" by Hyerin

Q: What a better way to celebrate your birthday than to release a new single! What inspired you to write “Ordinary”? Artist: Honestly, a guy. I’m a romantic at heart, but after countless disappointments, I’ve realised, that’s not always a good thing. The dating scene of today is very brutal; people’s attention span is so short, and it just doesn’t mix well with online dating - which is really what most people have had to rely on due to the pandemic. In short, I was talking to this guy who lived in another city for several months, and we made plans to meet up several times, only for him to cancel on me last minute or ghost me - then come crawling back and apologize. Looking back on it, I’m not proud of letting him back in - I don’t even understand why. This all happened in the beginning of the pandemic, so thinking about this guy was really all-consuming, and I wouldn’t stop bitching about it to my friends. So one friend told me I should write a song about it, and I did. It’s meant to be a diss track! I remember someone once told me the worst thing you can say to someone is that they’re boring. But I think maybe ordinary is worse? I just hope he doesn’t feel special now that I wrote a song about him.. Q: What does your songwriting process look like? Artist: It’s different every time! With this song in particular, I had been writing down random lines and ideas for a few months, before I sat down to actually try and write something. It’s almost a four chord song, and honestly it’s very basic! Just like the guy! So, I played it on my midi keyboard, put the chords on repeat, and tried to find some catchy melodies on top of that. Also, this song, like many of my other songs have an ascending opening, By now, it’s almost become my trademark. I saw this documentary many years ago, where they talked about how ascending or descending musical themes make great melodic impact. Not really groundbreaking stuff, but somehow I find myself using it over and over again. That’s my best songwriting hack. Q: How did your love for music start? Artist: It’s so cliché, but my mom says I sang before I talked. I do believe her though, because I was such an absent-minded and annoying kid. I was not a troublemaker, but I remember I was sent to the principal’s office for whistling during class repeatedly in elementary school. I hadn’t even noticed I was doing it. So yeah, I don’t remember. I just know I’ve always been making noise. Q: Besides one of your own, what is your favorite song to sing? Artist: Yesterday Once More by the Carpenters is such a warm and fuzzy song. If I’m at the karaoke bar, I’ll finish with that after some ABBA and Michael Jackson. Q: What do you enjoy most about being an artist? Artist: I’m quite new to the game, and I haven’t played any gigs yet, so I don’t really have an answer for that. But as a songwriter, it’s definitely getting feedback from listeners, and being acknowledged by peers! Q: What can we expect next from you? We're excited to see where this journey takes you :) Artist: More music! I’m working on something right now, and I’m very excited about it! I’m starting to feel like I’ve come close to defining my sound. My upcoming music is more personal and revealing lyric-wise, so that will be an interesting experience to perform! Do I have the song for you! ‘Turpentine’ by Nathaniel Paul points to the mass-overconsumption of media outlets as a source of daily disruption. There’s a boatload of information being thrown at us whenever we scroll our socials. If we’re on too often, our mental health can take a hit from the resulting overstimulation. “Take me off that assembly line.” Break away from the toxicity in today’s social culture and focus on what you want. Our lives are so much more than a news report or a screen! There’s a strong sense of empowerment that comes with taking control of our lives. “We have to help others on their feet again so they can dream of a better life.” Lead by example! Groovy guitar strums set the vibe right and give the song its characteristic chill rock sound. Paul’s soulful, melodic voice is a glimmer of hope in the uncertainties of the world. Upward-moving synth motifs reinforce that hope ten-fold. You also get this cool sludge-like effect in the post-chorus that allows for a moving, multi-sensory experience! • Interview: "I Know" by Georgia Winter

Q: Congratulations on the release of ‘I Know’! Can you share what inspired you to write this song? Georgia: Thank you! "I Know" was inspired by a nostalgic late night post lockdown, sitting with my laptop and humming over an ambient synth. I was in a deep memory of that bittersweet feeling of having to let go of something that you know has passed its time. Closing chapters at 2am. Q: What is your songwriting process like? Georgia: I usually establish a home for the track to sit in first, usually done by creating textures and soundscapes with production. From here I develop the feeling and the story that I want to tell, throwing down some melodies over the track and fitting the lyrical structure of that (I often lean towards a sort of Swedish pop approach to songwriting). Once i've moulded the lyrics to the melody, i'll layer everything up! Q: What made you want to pursue a career in music? Georgia: I was brought up on 2000's pop culture: Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Timberland. I remember summer days blasting "Way I Are" by Nelly Furtado and Timberland, wishing I could do something that made me feel as good as I did when I listened to that song. From there I got into rock and started playing drums at the age of 12 (which I still do now- I do some session work with Suki Waterhouse). My own artist project was formed by all these influences. Q: What is your favorite album of all time? Georgia: It changes daily... right now i've got to say "Juno" by Remi Wolf. It's so out of the box, I love it. Q: If you could perform with any artist in the world, who would you pick and why? Georgia: Billie Eilish. Her visuals surrounding her sonic landscape are insane, i'd love to be a part of that. Q: What can we expect next from you? We can’t wait to hear more! Georgia: Justin Bieber meets Joan Jett, dipped in 2000's pop. I'm excited to share! Written By Sarah Curry FOLLOW GEORGIA:

  • "Drinking Again" by Jillian Ann

Who said we couldn’t take ourselves out on dates? ‘Drinking Again’ by Jillian Ann is self-care at its finest. It’s about not being afraid to treat yourself to a night at the bar. When you don’t have friends to go out with, that doesn’t mean you can’t have an exhilarating time in your own company! You could even go to Olive Garden on your own just to get their delicious breadsticks (and I would 100% support that decision). Whatever pleasurable activity makes you feel alive, do it whether you’re with people or not! “Don’t need you to love me, Jack Daniel’s set me free.” There’s something quite compelling between the physical atmosphere described in the verses and the internal thoughts like this one in subsequent lines. Jillian uses this clever separation of ideas to her advantage. Her voice starts off grounded in a deep, resonant tone and turns heavenly sweet when the transition occurs. It’s a great way to compare being in the moment versus being in your mind. Then it all merges into this gorgeous chorus where she turns into a showstopper! Jillian does a fantastic job engaging the listener with masterful wordplay and a party-worthy sound. Boston native singer-songwriter and performer Jillian Ann is a recent Berklee College of Music graduate. Her music catalog transcends a variety of genres, particularly 70s music. Her musical inspirations include the likes of Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Heart and Led Zeppelin. She’s headlined at popular music venues like Hard Rock Café and the Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub. She's also in a duo with longtime friend Christian Colegrove called Intra Element. ‘Drinking Again’ is the lead single off Jillian’s latest EP ‘I Hope You’re Listening Now’ which is available now wherever you stream music! • Interview: "Let Me Know" by Sharl

Q: Congratulations on the release of “Let Me Know”! What inspired you to write this song? Sharl: Thank you! The calendar date being 31st December was the initial inspiration! I felt so restless on that day about the year ending that I just had this need to write one more song before 2021 finished! Being in that impatient headspace took me right back to this time which I describe in the song, the impatience I felt after going on a few dates with someone. Q: When did you know you wanted to be an artist? Sharl: I think people will be surprised by this! I started learning musical instruments when I was three, I’ve loved singing and songwriting for many years and first released original music a long time ago. Music has always been my passion and a huge part of my life. But in all honesty, I didn’t feel completely comfortable being an artist, compared to just being a musician, until last year! I don’t know how but something switched inside me and now I feel totally at one with the music I’m releasing, and that I’m doing what I’m meant to be doing. Paradoxically there is real inner peace and fulfilment I get now from creating my music even though it involves sharing such personal and raw emotions. Q: What is your go-to karaoke song? Sharl: Enthusiastic rendition of Super Bass which no one deserves inflicted on them… Q: If you could have dinner with any artist in the world, dead or alive, who would you pick and why? Sharl: XNDA, even if music is not the career he’s known best for! He is a great inspiration: always working hard to be at the top of his game under immense pressure, and balancing multiple passions in the most impressive way. Also he is an advocate for disadvantaged communities and speaks out about causes he believes in, when it would be much easier not to. Seeing such commitment is very motivational to me, and he does it with a lot of humility and style too. Q: Who would you say are your biggest music influences? Sharl: Right now, I don’t really have any conscious influences! For my music I write whatever feels natural at the time, and sound-wise I go with whatever feels best for the specific song. I like a wide range of genres but I do lean towards listening to solo pop female artists, some earlier inspirations would have been Taylor Swift and Sia for their songwriting and Lady Gaga and Rihanna for their artistry. Somewhere along the line my writing must have been influenced by the girl and boy bands of the early 00s, as I think they have intrinsically timeless and catchy melodies that outlive their production. As a teenager I loved sometimes listening to pirate radio and underground dance music so that’s also a background influence for me, I can never resist a great EDM sound! Q: What can we look forward to next from you? Sharl: My next single “That Girl”, comes out on February 18th. I wrote it very recently too so it feels good releasing something so fresh! I wrote and recorded an album called City Lights last year. So the first single from this album comes out on 4th March. I’m really excited about the song, it’s called “I Fell In Love”: I think it blends together a truly awesome sound with telling a big story! For better or worse, I believe many people can relate to the lyrics, which encompass love, pain and resilience through bad times. I just finished shooting the music video for it, which has been an exciting collaboration with George Tsotsos, an up-and-coming filmmaker from Canberra. So I can’t wait to share that with people too and watch the song come to life with visuals that express the music further. More singles from the album City Lights will be dropping ahead of the full album release this year. It’s a diverse collection of pop songs across many subgenres so there’s something in there for most people.I am really lucky to be working with Daniel Bohen, he is not only an amazing producer but a great solo artist, so check out his music too! We are constantly throwing ideas around, experimenting with different sounds and evolving all the time. So you can look forward to a lot more music from me, with continued growth as an artist and absolute love for what I’m doing! Written By Sarah Curry FOLLOW SHARL:
